Always have driven by and never gave myself an opportunity to stop in until today. Greeted by a display case of deliciousness, I turned my attention to the board to see what they had for food. I couldn't decide what to get so I went with "The Chaug" with no tomato and a sausage egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant. I had the breakfast sandwich first. Delicious! I would order one from here over Rice's any day of the week. Could have eaten another had I not bought something else. I enjoyed the chaug, pesto hit the spot and plenty of filling to fill me up. I enjoyed the ambiance of the place. It was relaxing and happy I stuck around rather than getting them to go. Cruising the area and stopped in for lunch, this place hit the spot. You could almost miss it as it looks like an old store. We both had sandwiches and sodas, nothing too crazy. The service was on point, they took our order right away and before we knew it, it was in front of us. The staff were all great. my partner and i ordered two simple breakfast sandwiches one croissant sandwich with cheese mayo and ham another on a bagel with egg ham bacon mayo and cheese, we asked to have a food for dine in but when our names were called they packed up our food to go, nonetheless we sat down and ate it at the restaurant when we took a bite into our sandwiches we were missing many of the things we asked and paid for such as no cheese in the croissant and no ham, mayo, or cheese in the bagel. this was disappointing as we repeated our orders to the lady at the register twice over and our meals were almost 30$, this was our first time and we won't be back... read more

Before I begin the entirety of my review, I wanted to note that the person I spoke to throughout this process was named either Sasha or Tasha. This situation occurred today 10/25/20 around 3:20pm. Sasha/Tasha was incredibly rude throughout the several conversations we had. She was a terrible example of how customer service should be implemented and I would be embarrassed as a company to have her as an employee. I am disheartened to be writing this review as this has been a place that I've gone to for years with my best friend and her family. My best friend and I had placed an order for Village Store Cafe through GrubHub around 2:45pm and received a call the restaurant that they were having issues with their iPad regarding seeing the order. I inquired if I should place again through GrubHub or directly through the restaurant. She said she wasn't sure and made several comments about how the GrubHub driver and his supervisor "did not speak English" (which I later spoke to the supervisor, who although having an accent, spoke English clearly and well). GrubHub canceled the order and I attempted to call the restaurant again directly. The phone rang repeatedly but no one picked up so we placed the order again through GrubHub. I called the restaurant to confirm they received it as I still had not received a notification confirming. After being placed on hold for several minutes, I had to call again. When I got through again, I was told they did not receive the order. I asked if I could place the order verbally and pick it up which given Tasha/Sasha's attitude I would have normally cancelled but it was the birthday restaraunt meal choice of my best friend's family member. It was around 3:20pm and they closed at 4pm. I was told that they were closing shortly and "did I live close by?" I explained that we did and I could be there in within ten minutes. She repeated that they were closing soon again and then proceeded to say that she could put through a small order. She made it abundantly clear that she did not want to take the order. I was then placed on hold AGAIN where she continued to reiterate that she would take a small order and how they were closing shortly upon her return. I explained that the order was not necessarily small and had around ten things in it and she was like "Oh Sorry" fairly rudely. If we had pushed to place the order, she may have been taken it begrudgingly but what was the point? Between her attitude and her clear lack of customer service skills, we cancelled our almost $100 order that she could not be bothered to take. She was clearly more concerned with leaving for the day then focusing how to rectify the situation for the customer for an error that was technically on the restaurants!!! Even if she wanted to leave that desperately, most people who work within customer service would have still offered to make the meal and/or provide a credit for a next order as it was an issue on the restaurants' end. I reported my concerns to GrubHub as well about how the employee treated my best friend and I. Although this restaurant has been one that we have thought highly of due to it's "family like atmosphere", we will no longer affiliate with an establishment that repeatedly makes negative comments about a person's "inability to speak English" or that clearly does not prioritize their customers as most establishments would have been willing to complete the order with the remaining FORTY MINUTES they had.. I am disappointed by the treatment we received today and hope that Village Store Cafe will highly consider only maintaining employees who value their customers and do not act in discriminatory judgmental fashions. read more

The owner and two employees were in this morning. One employee was taking orders and making drinks. The owner and the other were chatting and ignoring customers. There was a small line and literally every single table needed cleaning. When I finally order and got my coffee, about 15-20 minutes later, it was mediocre at best. The sandwiches look good, but they are a bit pricy for the area. Also, the AC was off so it was baking inside.My guess is that this place stays in business because there is no competition. I will never stop by again. I would suggest avoiding it unless you are marooned in Wilbraham and can't get anywhere else. There is no point in going to a local coffee shop with bad coffee, poor service, and dirty tables. read more

Wicked French roast coffee is wicked good put that right up there with one of the best cup of coffees I've had. So to was the corn muffin, not overly sweet and cake-like as some tend to be but a marvelous corny texture that featured the main ingredient, rough stone ground corn flour. Note to the self service satellite coffee service with top of the line Fetco coffee equipment, someone knows their business when it comes to delivering a great cup of Joe! read more

There are some negative reviews out there of The Village. But listen to me: tell those naysayers to go on back home. This place is tasty, and Frank sells damn fine coffee. The Village Store is a staple in Wilbraham. These folks are incredibly friendly, and Frank is a great person who makes a point to learn the names off all the regulars, and that's what community is all about. I moved here two years ago from Mississippi and within a week or two they were saying, "how's it going, Dean, every time I stopped by." But let me talk about the food and such. You come here for good sandwiches and you leave here happy. They also make a tasty Mediterranean salad, and the Chaug panini is spot-on every time I've come. Not to mention they just started selling ice cream and bubble tea, and they have a solid list of pastry offerings. But really the bread and butter here is community, like I said. The village treats people (especially the folks at Wilbraham & Monson and the kids at both WMA and Minnechaug) with kindness and love. I've never seen or heard negativity about The Village from any of my students at WMA or any of my colleagues, definitely not since Frank took over. And you can't beat that or ask for better service. Verdict: This place is good people. And they make darn fine food and coffee to boot. read more

If you want to wait almost an hour to receive sub-par food, this is the place for you. The staff had no sense of urgency and did not seem to understand that people only have a certain amount of time for a lunch break and can not be waiting for their food for this long. NEVER going here again. New ownership is miserable. He clearly hates his job because he doesn't smile or even greet you when you walk in. Went in with a colleague and my small soy latte and her coffee came out to about $6?!?! How is that even possible! My latte was terrible. It tasted like warmed milk and have of it was foam! I have never really been a fan of the Village store because of the quality of food and drinks and their high pricing. And this just solidify my reasons why. I had their avocado, bacon and mayo sandwich, a brownie as well as a cinnamon sugar donut along with a dark roast coffee. Decided to stop in breakfast on a Saturday morning. It's a nice little hometown cafe full of locals I presume reading their newspapers, eating, and talking. It has a rustic New England feel, but yet is still modern. Parking is limited and so is the seating inside. You order up front and they bring your food out to you. I had the breakfast burrito which was very good. My family all had breakfast sandwiches on croissants in which they put in a panini press. I have never seen that done before, but they loved it. The prices are higher, but the food is real good. I particularly was impressed by the nice selection of baked goods. Customers seem to come in waves making the staff seem overwhelmed. They could use more than a couple people making food to stay ahead. It seemed like a cool place to meet someone for breakfast or lunch to catch up. Check it out! read more

Okay, so this was the fourth time I've gone here and is probably the last, save for a cup of coffee. The first time we went I had the banana pancakes, which were awesome. The next time I got the eggs benedict, which had a wonky sauce that didn't resemble hollandaise at all. The home fries are awesome, though. The next time I went in for lunch and had a chicken salad sandwich which was WAY too salty, and I consider salt a food group. The next time I ordered the banana pancakes again, only to get somewhat doughy pancakes with no bananas. They eventually brought them on the side. We went back for breakfast this morning and I ordered the Spanish omelet, which was supposed to have spinach, roasted red peppers, and feta cheese. There was no feta in it at all. When I informed the server, she couldn't have cared less. She said, "oh, sorry about that. I'll tell the cook." Okey dokey. And I'll tell all my friends that you all could care less about the customer. I also believe all their baked good are outsourced and are fairly basic. It is within walking distance, so that is a plus. However, I think we'll try some other places from now on. read more

I'm literally writing this review as I'm sitting here eating. The cashier, didn't catch her name, kept on getting my order wrong and also Charged me for a Powerade that I didn't ask for. She didn't even give me the receipt until I asked her for it. Luckily I did because I wouldn't have known about the drink until I saw it on the receipt. At this point I was already charged and ANNOYED so I just kept it going. She asked for a name and gave her one. And she wrote the wrong name (which isn't the problem). She brought out the food and the sandwhich was missing some things. So I told her and she was like "this order is for (wrong name) " I quickly corrected her about the name and she consistently kept calling us The WRONG name. After I corrected her... multiple times. She wouldn't even fix the food either... just walked away from us. First time here and I definitely will not be coming back. Food is okay. Not worth coming back after that service. read more

There some kind of a varnish problem on the dining tables. The tables are so sticky and it feels kind of gross like they don't wash them but they actually are clean and just need to either be replaced or refinished somehow. Your napkins will stick to the table. They have playing cards there that you have to scrape off the table because they are so sticky. I sat here for over 20 minutes with two starving kids and nobody came over to the table. You can't get in and out of this place within an hour. There is no sense of urgency. Aside from the fact that it now has the best coffee in Wilbraham, the new management is fantastic. You can tell they care about their patrons. They recently converted the space into a great cafe with lots of seating and a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. They revamped the menu and now serve breakfast on the weekends. Let me tell you, the breakfast menu is awesome and stays on the healthier side of things. The Huevos Rancheros is my favorite. I began coming here over this summer to study. I hadn't been by for about 2 years. It's my new favorite study space. I was a stranger to the place and within a few days I felt like I was a regular. This place has undergone a couple changes of ownership since people have started logging Yelp reviews. The newest owner, Frank, is great. He's very attentive to everyone walking in, and although he's kept most of the menu he inherited (which was good to begin with), the daily lunch specials he creates are usually excellent. The salads are large, full of leafy greens and other great stuff like feta, olives, red onions, cukes, carrots, etc. The baked goods are divine. He's also willing to tweak any existing menu item to suit individual tastes. He's brought in a much friendlier staff than the previous owners. He recently added a small little picnic table area behind the restaurant that abuts a small town park. This is a nice little sandwich shop and only gets 4 stars due to things that can't be controlled: limited seating and parking during peak times. read more

I'm so impressed with this place! I grew up in monson and can't believe this was the first time I've been here since it's so close. The food was awesome we had a grilled rueben and a buffalo chicken wrap. The food was fresh and a good portion size at a good price. I can't wait to go back and try their flavored brewed iced coffee and breakfast. Super cute decor as well it has a nice country aesthetic. The two girls working were super sweet and great service. Food is excellent but they need to manage the business better. They need more sense of urgency. Staff can not handle pressure and the cook up front is very standoffish and unapproachable. Atmosphere is lovely and never had an issue with the food, except for some expired cream cheese a couple times.
