As restaurants were very busy on a Saturday evening in the streets of Vancouver, my partner and I were scurrying to find a place to dine at. We wandered along the strip of Denman Street and stumbled across a hole in the wall gem. This is Dan Dan Noodle. Dan Dan Noodle stands out as a culinary gem, offering an unparalleled taste of authentic Chinese cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance transports you to the bustling streets of Chengdu, with its vibrant decor and welcoming atmosphere. The star of the show, the Dan Dan noodles, are an absolute delight. Each bite is an explosion of flavor, perfectly balancing the rich, nutty sesame paste with the spicy kick of Sichuan peppercorns and fresh vegetables. The noodles themselves are cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of chewiness. The food was so good we ordered TWO more noodle dishes. The Sichuan Cold Noodles (Liang Mian) and the Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup. Not only that, but we had a side of Spicy Wontons with Chili Sauce and Soju Bombs! We noticed how perfectly seasoned the dishes were right away. Usually when you order a large amount of food, you'd feel full and tired, but these dishes were not too heavy or oily, leaving us satisfied and full of energy! From the fiery heat of the spices to the comforting warmth of the soup, every dish is a testament to the chef's dedication to authenticity and quality. Prepared to perfection. We even had room for dessert afterwards! What truly sets Dan Dan Noodle apart, however, is the impeccable service. The staff go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and satisfied. Whether you're a seasoned spice lover or a newcomer to Sichuan cuisine, they are more than happy to guide you through the menu and offer recommendations. The staff were extremely friendly and wonderful! Dan Dan Noodle is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic taste of Sichuan in Vancouver. With its delicious food, inviting ambiance, and top-notch service, I will 1000% be back next time I'm in Vancouver.

Yummy, but small portions and spensive. They're open late and I definitely have ordered a few times. My wallet is sad though and my tummy is rumbling.

We stumbled upon this place for lunch on a Monday after we arrived from the states. I have made Dan Dan noodles at home, so we were familiar with them. Compared to other places nearby, this place was not crowded, so that was a little worrisome. However, the noodles were great - crispy pieces of pork with a nice bite from the Sichuan peppercorns. We also ordered the "boiled" vegetable, which was some sort of green Asian stalky thing that we really didn't know what it was, but it was sauced well and just a bit bitter. We liked it.

Okay, real talk, if you've never had anything mala, you are missing out. I know spicy food isn't for everyone, but do try this place out. They have a "no spicy" and mild option for those that can't handle it and an "extra spicy" option that wants more of that good good numbness. The mild option is a bit spicy still according to the waitress, so get the "no spicy" option if you don't want any at all. I have to admit, the numbing feeling from the spices that you get here on your lips is real. I want to say that it isn't really spicy, just more numbing, but my sweat at the end of the meal seems to say otherwise. So my friends and I came here during happy hour and the wonderful waitress informed us that during this time, they were offering a "buy 1, get 1 free deal" for the Dan Dan Noodles. We opted to go for that as well as getting the Yi Bin Noodles, Sichuan Cold Noodles, and Spicy Wonton. Pretty much, we decided to get everything at a different spice level cause we had people that couldn't handle spicy foods. It was all quite good and my friends that couldn't handle the spice said it wasn't too bad. The numbness from the spice made the water taste unexpectingly sweeter. So expect your taste buds to get a bit messed up. My friends seemed to like the "non-spicy" option of the Dan Dan Noodles a lot. So spice isn't necessary to have flavorful noodles here it seems. I do like the spice still. The Sichuan cold noodles had a different texture and seemed more al dente. Had a bit more of a crunchy texture due to the bean sprouts. I liked it and it definitely felt like there was more variety in these dishes despite them coming out looking similar to each other. Recommend mixing the ingredients up before digging in. The ground meat tends to sink to the bottom still after mixing, so I guess that can't be helped. Do mix it so all the ingredients are more balanced when you slurp up the noods. The spicy wonton was pretty good, but I think the star of the show here is the noodle dishes. The noodles are quite good and felt more memorable. Granted, we did have 4 noodle entrees, so I guess it's hard to forget them. Overall, I enjoyed the food greatly. Service was wonderful and the price is reasonable. I had a great experience coming here with my friends and sharing and trying out everything.

I saw this place on Uber east, ordered it with buy 1 get 1 free discount. The noodles and the pork are too dry and there are barely any sauce. Perhaps it is better dine in. The cold noodles are way to easy to break apart. The quality just isn't that good.

If you are ever craving spicy food, Dan Dan Noodle is the place to go! It ain't for the faint hearted as their food is loaded with chillies and oil. There's no parking around so make sure you get that sorted before you decide to come in. We parked closeby and walked to the location. We had the cucumber in spices and it wasn't as good as it sounds. It was tasty but loaded with chilli oil. The Dan Dan noodles were amazing!! We ordered a non spice version for my 6 year old and he couldn't stop eating. So flavourful!! Their dumplings are the most delicious ones I've had in a long time. The pork and rice dish was average and can be skipped. Over all the staff gave us right recommendations and was helpful. The place was quiet on a weekday evening but I can see how it could get busy on weekends. The prices are not exorbitant and we had lots of leftovers that we packed for next days meal. Will I go back?? Hell ya! I still think of that plate of Dan Dan Noodles !!

Food was delicious and service was good. However, the Dan Dan noodle portion is small and for the price it only included noodle and a little bit of minced pork.

It does not look very special from the outside, and the food choice is not big. However, I think they deserve 5 stars for their tasty food and friendly service. I had the spicy cold chicken and the intestine noodle. Both are authentic and tasty. I would have liked the noodle soup to be heavier in flavor. The chicken could have been more tender.

    Sichuan dan dan noodles (vegan)

Absolutely top-notch Sichuan food with tons of clearly-marked vegan options. I saw online that their menu had a lot of vegan options, so we decided to check them out for dine-in one night. They serve up authentic Northern Chinese / Sichuan cuisine, including classics like ma-po tofu and dan dan noodles. We ordered the Sichuan cucumbers ($7.95), boiled vegetables ($6.95), Sichuan spicy sliced potato ($7.95), Sichuan mapo tofu ($14.95) and the Sichuan dan dan noodles ($13.95). Everything came out very quickly. -The cucumbers (served cold) were probably the best I've ever had, largely due to the delectable dressing -- perfect combination of peppercorns, chili peppers, chili oil, salt and sugar. We couldn't get enough of these. 5/5 -The spicy potato dish was really solid too, coming with a similar sauce to the cucumbers (but hot) and were very tasty. These were probably the least impressive of what we ordered, but still damn good. 4/5 -The boiled vegetable was yu choy (like smaller gai lan), and came with a salty oyster sauce-like sauce. Nothing incredible, but exactly the kind of greens you want to accompany this kind of meal. 4/5 -The mapo tofu was fantastic. It wasn't a Sichuan peppercorn bomb, but had plenty of that; it was more dominated by the wonderful fermented bean paste character. On the oily side but acceptable for the dish, this was fantastic. This is served with a bowl of rice. 4.5/5 -The dan dan noodles were exquisite as well, nice and peppercorn-y, with excellent crunch from the minced veggies and peanuts. Excellent. 5/5 The service was top-notch also, providing helpful recommendations and information about the different dishes. Prices are reasonable for the most part, and the portions are solid. My utmost highest recommendation.

Your preference will depend upon subtleties about noodle thickness and texture and broth flavors, but there is always, always a line in front of Ramen Danbo. A lot of it is probably due to hype or fame, but I have to admit that I think it does edge out the others in several ways. I think the noodles themself are more flavorful and more delicate. And I have to say the pork was extremely tender and flavorful. The egg was perfectly prepared, and the broth was perfectly seasoned to my desired spiciness level. Also got a piece of tempura spicy chicken - basically coated in shichimi and i think chili oil. This one was WAY too salty. They had a new yuzu drink which I also tried - too sweet, and for $5, total rip off. Considering the quality, their prices are on the high side. Its just not good enough a product, especially when there is exceptionally good ramen to be found elsewhere in Vancouver. Street meter parking if you can find it. Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.
