Came here while visiting Vancouver on the recommendation of a friend, and they were spot on!!! Also, not sure where all the negativity around service is coming from, as the moment we entered, we were promptly greeted and seated, and our family dining commenced! We had an excellent server (name pending) that took such great care of us. We perused the menu before deciding on several dishes. As the food began to make its way around the table, everything smelled and tasted delicious! I'm not quite sure what my favorite one was but actually now that I think about it it was the fried halibut dish! It was cooked to peer perfection and amazing sauce that it was tossed in with the sautéed onions just made the whole dish come together. I love coming to dim sum because it's family style and everybody gets to try a little bit of everything! As plates became empty other servers came over to clear a table and take more orders for us constantly filling our waters and teas to quench our thirst. The restaurant was nice and clean and we got there early right when they open which I would highly recommend, because as soon as we sat down the place filled up quickly. If you're ever in Vancouver make your way over to Kirin and get you some dim sum!

This place is legit. If we had more time in town then we would've come back. I would've ordered more dumplings. We got the shrimp hargow (our toddler ate 4) and these things are huge compare to what we get in Denver. We got the prawn spring rolls, scallop dumpling, Chinese broccoli, beef pan fried noodles, pork dumplings in chili oil and mango mochi and everything was so fresh. And the service was hands down the best service ever. They were so cautious of our son's allergies and we felt so taken care of. As dim sum lovers, this is our 2nd favorite dim sum restaurant in the world. Wish we had time to come twice.

I joined 900 people for lunar new year festival here. The food was tasty but as you can imagine service was super slow. It was really hard to get water lol. Nevertheless the courses brought back memories of childhood. I especially liked their prawn chips And bbq pork!

Great place for dim sum in downtown Vancouver. Pros - wide selection of dim sum options and noodle dishes. Convenient location downtown. Very large interior and quick friendly service Cons - none! Great place for weekend dim sun with the family.

There's something about the Dim Sum here that makes it more fresh? I'm obsessed though. So glad we had lunch here and everything was good! ***What we ordered ~ **Char Siu Bao (8/10) ~ The Bao is soft, the filling has a nice sweetness to it, and it's not DRY! I would recommend getting this especially if you like Char Siu Bao! **Har Gaow (10/10) ~ Ooooooh my god. If I had a bigger stomach I would get lots of this. I love that the shrimp is juicy and spongey. The rice wrapper on the outside is also soft and not dry too. I would order plenty of this honestly. Overall, Food did take a little bit to come out, but everything was good! I would totally come back! Highly recommend making a reservation though!

We were a little hesitant to try Kirin for dim sum after reading mixed reviews, but decided to just go for it on a Sunday morning. We walked in without a reservation and we weren't sure if they were going to sit us, but they ended up giving us a table pretty quickly. The menu for dim sum is pretty small compared to other places we have been to, but they had most of the usual items. It was a little pricey, but maybe you pay for the elevated ambiance. We ordered siu mai, chicken feet, har gao, the deep fried prawn wrapped in taro root paste, and the charcoal salted egg yolk buns. Everything was pretty tasty and tasted a little "cleaner" than the normal push cart dim sum spots. Overall, decent experience in downtown Vancouver. I would probably go again if I visited the area and maybe try a couple more things if I had a bigger group.

It's definitely a different way or high-class way of eating dimsum! Where I'm from, there are workers who bring carts filled with dimsum over to our table, and we would choose what we want. However, Kirin was just like your typical restaurant. You order off the menu, and the server brings it out to you. There's nothing wrong with this, but it's just different. I like that they give you two chopsticks- one to use for shared or communal dishes and one to use for your own plate. We didn't really care, but it was cool for them to have for germaphobes! Everything that we ate there was delicious! No complaints! Cleanliness on point! Excellent service! Reservations highly recommended! Everything was delicious!

***FOOD: Utterly delish dim sum for downtown. Lots of variety and every dim sum we ordered was fresh and top knotch. SALT PEPPER FISH - Must Order/Try, so unbelievably good it'll have you craving long after; HAR GAW & STICKY RICE & SIU MAI & BBQ BUN - everything is good piping hot and so delicious. Totally satisfied our cravings. CONGEE- very very good; MANGO PUDDING - wow don't see this oldie and goodie on menus anymore. It was just so creamy good. So much mango. ***COST (OUT OF 4$) $$ expensive because it's downtown but if you are downtown and don't want to travel to Richmond or outside of downtown then this is as good as it gets. ***DÉCOR: upstairs, looks like it was carved out of lobby of the office building with skylights which made it pretty warm in there and the AC had hard time keeping the place cool. Contemporary modern pretty, upscale decor. Sparkly chandeliers. Parking may be an issue but it seems to me it's a place for tourists/visitors in hotel ***SERVICE: servers were ok, attentive, did try to seek us their special Kirin Mooncake. Dishes seemed to take a while so just assumed they were making them fresh. ***RECOMMEND: Yes highly RECOMMEND. Definitely would come back to eat here if have a craving for dim sum while visiting downtown.

Walking in it was really nice but I thought the food was okay. The service was okay but the price isn't too bad so it can make up for it.

One is the best dim sums in town. Superb service. The ambience of the downtown location is a mix of Hong Kong banquet restaurant and business feel. It's also more quiet. It's suitable for all occasions. They validate either 1 or 2 hours for the underground parking. Otherwise it's parallel street parking.

The food was super yummy and juicy, service was great as food came out immediately. They offered us jasmine tea and there is free mint at the front! The restaurant felt cozy, there is parking right underneath very easy to get to, come eat here !

We started with a plate of the BBQ Duck, and it was absolute perfection--packed with so much lean, incredibly flavorful meat. Then we ordered the Signature Four Treasures Chef's Plate on Steamed Rice. Talk about a masterpiece! It comes with BBQ Pork, Soy Sauce Chicken, Roasted Pork, and half a Salty Duck Egg. Honestly, every single element was so delicious that I genuinely couldn't pick a favorite. To top off an already amazing meal, their black lychee tea was out of this world. I loved it so much I actually asked if I could buy some to take home! They don't retail it, but the staff was so sweet and told me, "You can drink as much as you like here." Challenge absolutely accepted! The staff kept it perfectly topped up the entire time. Excellent food, wonderful service, and all the cozy, classic vibes. More cha cha cha please! New Town Bakery is one of those Chinatown staples that feels like a rite of passage in Vancouver…read more We headed there for breakfast, excited for pastries and a classic bakery experience, and decided to dine in. Once we sat down and were handed the full menu, though, I had a brief moment of panic. The menu is huuuge and varied, plus none of the items I had mentally planned on ordering were on there. We pivoted and ordered pork siu mai, congee, look fun noodles, and a few steamed buns (they're especially known for those). The congee, noodles, and siu mai were all fine--very standard, not particularly memorable. In fairness, they weren't what I came for in the first place, so that probably shaped my expectations. The real standouts were the pork asado siopao and the chicken deluxe (bola bola). Both have Filipino roots, and the siopao especially brought a comforting sense of familiarity--soft, fluffy, and filled with that sweet-savory pork that felt like home. Those alone made the visit worthwhile. They actually have quite a few other Filipino influenced items like hopia and puto which was surprising. Ironically, it was only after we left that I noticed the sign on the window highlighting their most popular items--exactly what first-timers should probably stick to. I had ordered a few pastries to go with the intention of trying them later... and then completely forgot about them, which I'm still a little sad about. Overall, it was a good visit with a clear lesson learned: go in with a game plan and order the hits. It's a beloved Vancouver institution for a reason, and I'd definitely recommend stopping by--just know it's cash only and do a little pre-order research so you can make the most of it. I'd give it more like a 3.5 vs a 4 star, but I'm already planning a redo focused purely on the classics.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.
