Very good dim sum! Ordered: Siu Mai: Excellent. Comes with five (!!) pieces and was succulent and juicy, topped with fish roe. Cha siu bao: Average. The meat was not lean enough but the flavor was standard. Egg tart: Excellent. The egg custard was much less sweet than I was accustomed to but was pleasant. The pastry portion was light and crispy. Shrimp and chive dumpling: Good. Packed with chives and shrimp with a light garlic flavor. Seared on both sides. Salt and pepper squid: Excellent. Easily the standout of the meal and was garnished with garlic and peppers! Ambiance was loud as usual for a dim sum restaurant. We came here for dinner recently for family dinner and we ordered a bunch of dishes and got the soy chicken for free. The dishes are of decent size and quantity and is pretty decent. First time coming here as we were nearby on a Monday morning. Dimsum apparently is 10% off all the time? Only the dimsum part and not the specials. Phoenix claws - wow the portion is generous. And only the claw part so it's even more. Taste is done well. Soy sauce stir fried crystal noodles - I knew I wouldnt enjoy it because the term soy sauce stir fry noodles only have beansprouts and minimal things. It has red onions, green onions and bean sprouts. Taste is as good as a soy sauce stir fry gets haha. I didn't like that some noodles were still giant rolls and they didn't undo them. This means more bland noodles. Pan fried bean curd wrap - this is the first time seeing it in this form. Usually its a smaller in side and individually rolled. They rolled a giant one and cut them in half diagonally. This makes all the filling fall out. I like that they put a lot of mushrooms in it but again, it falls everywhere. They dont charge for tea so that is a plus. There is a small parkade behind. read more

Absolute BEST dim sum I've had yet. Made to order, the food was hot, juicy, and tasted just right. Not greasy or oily, just pure juiciness. We tried to go to other places around town for dim sum but others were too busy or only took reservations. I'm so glad we ended up here. Portions are huge so be careful when ordering! With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Have been dying for authentic Chinese food so discovered this restaurant while searching Yelp. Another reviewer mentioned she/he had visited 3x in 10 days. I now see why! I first came for dinner, then returned the next morning for dim sum. Everything is prepared fresh and service was pretty fast. Loved all the dishes. Most of the dim sum plates were 9.98 each, except the rice congee (small bowl) was 13.98. If you have any leftovers, consider bringing your own containers as take out containers are an extra flat $2 charge. read more

This is a lower end Chinese restaurant located in Vancouver on East Hasting. Their parking lot is small and the parking spots are tight. I drive a small car so its not bad for me but I can't imagine the bigger cars. We were a table of 14 people. They managed to accommodate everyone at one table. I was surprised that we booked the table 30 mins before showing up on a Monday and they managed to have seats for us and the table ready when we showed up. The place is at the cheaper end. If you dine over a certain $$ you get a coupon for free half chicken with an expiry date around the corner. The price is cheap. We got free tea and 10%. The food portion size is huge. However, the presentation is kind of gross for some dishes such as the rice rolls that looks like a mess on a plate. The quality of the ingredients are not fresh for some items and the taste is not there for some items as well. The restaurant itself looks ok. It was very noisy when we went. The washroom was kind of dirty. The restaurant itself isn't very appetizing if you notice the smaller fine details of the cleanliness of the place. They attract customers who don't want to drive to Richmond for Chinese food or looking for cheaper Chinese food options. Some dishes are a hit and miss. Reviewing for our dinner here back in December 2023 (I took notes, just getting around to finally posting this). Pretty good Chinese food. The entire restaurant had Asian diners, we were one of two tables with caucasian diners. THE SERVICE A little difficult if you don't speak Cantonese. Even my Mandarin didn't help; I asked our server for Oolong tea and she didn't understand me, eventually waving me off and bringing me some unknown tea. Eventually I think our server handed us off to a manager who speaks English because we saw a lot less of that server. They were a little judge-y of my caucasian partner, saying things like "of course you'll need a fork" directly to him without him asking for one, and kind of being brusque when he asked for soy sauce (and it was for our kids). RESERVATIONS We got a 5:30pm reservation for 5 people on Christmas Eve with just about 1 hour's notice. THE COST $153 CAD total for 4 dinner entrees & 3 bowls of rice. THE FOOD * Beef Slices with Gai Lan ($29.80) - 3.5 stars Very tender beef slices; the gai lan was quite crunchy, slightly undercooked. * Scallop, Egg Tofu, & Eggplant ($33.80) - 4.5 stars Everyone's favorite dish! Great flavor and everything in here had a perfect texture. * Supreme Soy Sauce Chow Mein ($26.80) - 3 stars This normally comes with veggies, but we asked for plain noodles with soy sauce for our toddlers. We asked if the veggies could be on the side, but that wasn't possible for some reason. Maybe the 5 stars is an over exaggeration but also maybe not - for the price, quality and quantity of food, this place is a winner for sure. Our group of 4 came here after seeing it was always busy and the parking lot was full even on weekdays. This place is a typical Chinese banquet hall that looks like they do dim sum on weekends and feels like it could even host a small wedding - and a smaller 6 table room in a different area of the restaurant. The menu was expansive, as expected, but the dinner combos really caught our eye. We ordered the lobster combo, which came with five other dishes for a price that honestly felt like a steal of a deal. The seafood vermicelli was the real crowd-pleaser. If I had to rate the dishes, it would be the following: 1. Seafood vermicelli (very flavourful and not dry) 2. Sweet and sour pork (crispy and meaty) 3. Ground pork and eggplant (saucy and big portions) 4. Beef and Gailan (a staple and really good - I've been to places where the gailan is bitter and chewy because they kept the ends on - this place cut it off at the right spots and the dish was good) 5. Lobster with sticky rice (This one is a personal preference but I like fluffy rice and more of a crab person) 6. Soy glazed chicken (This one is the bottom on my list but in no way a bad choice, I just liked the others above this) Service was smooth. One of our group spoke Cantonese, but the staff's English was spot-on, so no translation needed. They kept things moving and didn't miss a beat. The meal kicked off with a soup and wrapped up with a dessert--both not in the pictures but both very appreciated. With places like this - with such an expansive menu, I feel like its hard to go wrong, but there are some key winners that would change some people's opinions from a 3- or 4- star review to a 5, so definitely check out the ones I listed above! read more

There are gringo Chinese restaurants, and there are authentically Chinese restaurants. This is definitely the latter. Most or all of the tables are ten-person round tables with lazy susans to move things around. We had about a twenty minute wait on a Thursday night. Our waitress was difficult to communicate with due to her strong accent, but she was quite friendly. We had the Peking Duck Combo + 5 items for the eight of us and had a good amount of leftovers (too bad we had little use for them. :( ) I wasn't particularly impressed by the Peking Duck: it was similar to what I've had before at other restaurants. We started out with the special Winter Melon Soup, which I'd never had before. Thick, dark, and rich broth, but not much floating in it. Then came Deep Fried Garlic Shrimp Spring Rolls, solidly packed with shrimp, but surprisingly mild flavored. My favorite was the Honey Garlic Spareribs. We also had a chicken with vegetables and a shrimp with vegetables, the String Beans with Minced Pork (not too spicy), and a fairly basic fried rice. Service was a little hard to come by. read more

For years relied on an upscale dim sum place with a location in Richmond and one on Main St., but had an unpleasant experience post pandemic. Have tried a couple of other places with mixed results and ended up here on Sunday. It did not disappoint - authentic, reasonably priced and delicious with some of the best service ever for a dim sum place. Sizeable menu, some items only after 11 am, large portions. Most the "usual" suspects on offer with a couple of fun twists per below. The individual portions of siu mai, hat gow etc were larger than most places and in addition, there was often one or two more pieces than one would normally have in an order. Xo sauce chunky but on point and reasonable cost, no charge for tea. Free parking out back if driving. One day I will figure out how to order Worcestershire in my bad mandarin and not get ketchup... Came here for a friend's birthday party and we were seated in the very back secret private room with 20 friends. The friend wanted a typical Chinese banquet style for his birthday dinner, and on top of that, he wanted something decent for pricing, so this was not a bad choice as I love it. We had their Duck banquet 12 dishes. It was delicious and omg, I wasn't expecting so much food in 1 night. When we thought we were finished with all the food, it just kept coming. On top of that, the variety of their menu is just decent. It isn't that bad and neither are their styles of cooking too. We had 2 bottles of wine too, and surprisingly they didn't charge us for cork fee. We had so much food to the point that we had to have some boxes to bring home the crab, some noodles and some meat. Even though we had like 2 large tables of us, it was just so much food we were like full after too. On top of that, their dessert was the different type too, not the red bean soup, it was the Pinapple topping sago dessert. Something a little addition to our experince it was a good time. Just what I was looking for. This hit the spot for my dim sum craving. The food was fresh since the turnover was high. I ordered way too much because my eyes were bigger than my stomach but that meant awesome leftovers for later! The jin dui - sesame with sweet bean paste was the best I've ever had. Super soft chewy and crispy and not too sweet. The lo mai gai - sticky rice with preserved egg and Chinese sausage and mushrooms was also super delicious and huge. Lo bak go - turnip cake was on point. I don't normally get chin guin - crispy egg roll but I did and they were excellent.
