Lots of wineries in Solvang and decided to have a tasting at Dana V before dinner. Lots of different wine packages. It was a warm day and they had a perfect menu with 5 chilled wines. My favorite was a Chardonnay and i ended up buying 3 bottles and got a free tasting for it. Service was top notch and they carefully explained each wine and the flavor profile and pairings. Memorable time at Dana V. Wines. It was raining outside and the inside seating area was full, but our host/sommelier Tim made it work for our group of seven. He set some seats around one of the firepits outside, wiped down our seats, and placed some seat cushions on top. He also had the umbrella positioned above us to shelter us from the rain. It was a cozy arrangement. We did the $23 wine tasting, which included five wines with a mix of whites and reds. Before each pour, Tim would go into detail about each of the wines, where they were grown, and the processes of producing different flavor profiles. He also threw in an additional white wine pour for us to taste, which we ended up purchasing. Favorites included the Chardonnays from Santa Barbara County and Santa Rita Hills and the BDX Rouge red blend. I hardly leave Yelp reviews but I felt this tasting room deserved it. We came across Dana V. Wines on a busy Saturday afternoon during Thanksgiving weekend. I was attracted to the outdoor seating, live music and the cute decor inside. We've never been there before but being a regular visitor to the area over the years, I've heard positive reviews about their wines. We immediately were greeted by one of the associates, Teresa, and were seated at a table outside. They were very accommodating to us, as we had our two year old English Cream Retreiver tagging along. She provided us a wine list, water for us and our pup (along with a few treats for him). We spent almost two hours there, enjoying the music, people watching and being able to relax. We bought two bottles. The 2020 BDX Rouge which is from Happy Canyon and a 2020 Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills (both my favorites). I've worked in the food and customer service industry and was very pleased with the hospitality that Dana V. provided. They were attentive, friendly and very informative. I also appreciated the dog friendly atmosphere and how kind and loving they were to him. We had the opportunity to meet the winemaker as well. She was very welcoming, kind and of course, loved our dog. I highly recommend if you're walking the streets of Solvang to stop and give them a try. It's one of the best locations to visit in town. Ok first of all I'm not much of a wine drinker (till now) nor did I ever enjoy wines. Dana V has some of the best wines here in Solvang. Been to many winery's and tasted wines from all over the world but I really never enjoyed them like I have been enjoying her wines. I've open many bottles and have left them unfinished since I really don't drink wines. The other day I opened a bottle of their "Hope" and by the time my wife finished her glass I was done with the rest of the bottle! Located in the very heart of Solvang, this little unassuming tasting room offers lots of big tastes. Hard to believe we had never been here before, but thank goodness for the internet as we came across several articles about these wines and the fact that they are locally owned AND #femalewinemaker And thank you Steven for being our very knowledgeable and gracious host. We initially came in for just the Chardonnays, but found that their Pinot Noir, Grenache, Syrah, and both Red Blends were all outstanding. And was also a delicious place to start celebrating National Rose Day. Their Rose of Grenache is a sure winner. Wine is fantastic, I have had it several times, but this story will warm your heart. I am a local, I live here in Solvang. My son informed me at 11:00 pm on a Friday night, he needed a No. 2 pencil for his important college prep exam the next early am- let's not discuss, nor worry about the details of if he & I planned well prior to this or not. We did, but things happen. So, in a very small town, at 11:00 pm the only places open, are bars. I went and asked a few-they only had pens. They were very nice & that's expected. Then I saw lights on at Dana V! A very nice gentleman/staff member asked me as I approached quickly, out of shear excitement that they were actually open...."what can I help you with?" I explained my situation..... he said, ok wait here-I'll be right back. There was a nice woman outside finishing a glass of wine-looked like she might also be a Mom. Spent a Sunday afternoon here recently. What a cute little place! Due to the pandemic, the do not allow folks "inside" but have great outdoor seating that is comfy and appropriately spaced from other parties. My husband and I each did a flight here and our server was very polite and great at adhering to the COVID safety precautions. Their wines were great and we even picked up a bottle to take with us. For COVID safety, only patio seating is available, all staff/patrons must wear masks, and all tables are socially distanced. A little chilly on the patio without any heat lamps or fire pits near us, but we still enjoyed the mellow ambiance. Dana V. Wines is a bit further into the block from the main street, which allows for a bit of space from the traffic noise. The flight was great, less than $20 for 5. I picked up two rosés for friends back in the bay, along with a stack of gorgeous geode coasters. Though, after touring a few wineries around Solvang, my partner and I felt there were stronger choices in the area. Dana V. Wines' advantage is their beautifully curated atmosphere. I brought some girlfriends here and loved the decor in the place, as well as the outdoor seating area. For the record, there was not a single other person inside at the time, only a few people out front on the patio. The place is really cute inside, but our greeting by the hostess/waitress was kind of awkward, we wanted a tasting, and we wanted to sit outside, so we ventured and she set us up and we got our firepit going and then got our glasses. But two of us had some lint and little hairs in our glasses, one was way worse than the other and so they took them to her and she was saying how maybe it was from the trees, and how she just took them out of the box, and even then it was like, well did you rinse them out? Or what happened, like she didn't fully believe it, and they did get really busy, so it took a long time for us to get our tastings in and then the pours were not that big.
