I have lived in Glen Ellyn 6 years and have finally found my neighborhood deli. It's a classic polish deli with quality sliced meats, terrific homemade tuna and egg salad, on a variety of fresh breads. The homemade soups are amazing! I had the goulosh one time and the cabbage soup the next time. Where else can you can get a healthy soup and 1/2 sandwich special for under $7. The food is way better than Panera and I couldn't be more happy having lived in Chicago for 15 years before I came out here I could always find these little hole in the walls: well now I did! This little gem just re opened at a new location in Wheaton. I missed them while they made the move. Everything is homemade... soups, delicious sandwiches and desserts. There is simply no other place with soup that's good. The family that runs this restaurant is incredibly nice and always remembers me. Excellent. The soups are delicious and taste home made...and they are made right there. My favorites are split pea, bean soup and the cabbage soup. The stuffed peppers and stuffed cabbage are really good too. The egg salad sandwich was fresh and wonderful. Don't judge this Deli by it's looks. It is much more than the gas-station quickie-mart that it appears to be. When I lived in Wheaton, I would always visit the Danada Deli and order a wrap with turkey, cheese, veggies and honey mustard, and I was amazed at how much flavor such a simple item can have. The ingredients were always very fresh. I wouldn't call this place a restaurant, but they do have a few small tables, so you could eat there. Since it is a "pantry", chips and drinks are far cheaper than if you were to buy them to accompany a sandwich anywhere else. read more

I stumbled into this place a few years back when I was craving for Hungarian food and specialties. This place came in sight as one of the old reviews contained my searched keywords. I finally got a chance to stop by a couple years ago. What a pleasant surprise! The owners are the friendliest Hungarians. The foods are exceptional and truly home made. If you are lucky, when chef Laci makes them, you can get Hungarian Hurka (blood or liver sausages), Kürtőskalács( chimney cake). Their desserts are usually in European style, light on sugar and more tasty. Having a taste of Hungary is a real treat in Chicagoland. Two thumbs up for this exceptional place! I have found few places that treat you as hospitable as The Danada Square Dali & Pantry do! Upon telling them I have never been there before, I was walked through the menus and given all the options possible. I chose the pastrami on wheat with mayo, mustard and pickles. Absolutely sublime. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The portions are very generous for a very low price and the drinks are huge for $1.50. The owners are incredibly nice, warm and caring people who make sure you want to come back again, which I definitely will! read more

I've always wanted to try this deli for lunch because 1) I love delis and 2) there's a sign outside that says $5 lunch specials. I stopped by today and it did not disappoint! This is a great lunch place! I stop in here once or twice a week. Everything is made fresh, including their soups and their daily special. It is family run, and it's obvious that they care. Dad cooks in the back, mom works the cash register, and their son makes the sandwiches. Their sandwiches and soups are great. Their daily specials are even better. Give this place a try. I recently stopped by this particular establishment because I needed to purchase some energy beverages. I was running on very little sleep and therefore forgot to check the expiration date of the products I was purchasing, which turned out to be quite the mistake. The two products I purchased were both wildly out of date. I purchased an "Extra Strength 5-hour energy" and a "Kirkland extra strength energy shot". The 5-hour energy shot had an expiration date of January 2015, and the Kirkland energy shot had an expiration date of September 2014. Sadly, as I stated before, I was quite tired and did not look at the expiration date until after I had taken a sip of the extra strength 5-hour energy, which was thoroughly disgusting and felt like acid on my esophagus. I quickly poured the rest of the contents into a glass to examine the color and smell of the liquid -- putrid brown with a foul smell. I still have the containers. Fortunately, I did not become ill from ingestion of the aforementioned energy beverage. I cannot speak strongly enough about how disappointed I am with establishments who refuse to throw away expired food or drink. Apparently this business would prefer to sell expired consumables than lose a small amount of money by throwing them away. Actions speak louder than words. Please avoid this establishment for the sake of your health. read more

The soup here is wonderful. So delicious that I asked to talk to the man that made it. Guess what? He makes all the stock/broth from scratch. Delicious home made soup from scratch every day. Yum yum yum! There are always different soup options and every soup we've tried has been delicious and full of meat & vegetables. The beef and barley soup is so full of beef, grains, and vegetables that it's almost a stew. My kids love it and it's a very affordable way to add variety to our meals when I don't have time to cook. There is also a daily lunch special and I've wanted to try the food but it's always all gone by the time we stop on the way home after school. If they added dinner specials to their menu I might never cook again. read more

I give this place 5 stars for service, friendliness, and trying to please the customer. I truly felt I was being serviced above and beyond as if I were family. I tried the Italian beef sandwich special. Like I said, I felt like I was a family member when they gave me my order to go, packaged up my order including my extra au jus. However the flavor was just 'meh', I didn't finish it and I threw out what I didn't eat (I save everything to eat later, don't like to waste). What a great place to pick up dinner. They have a daily special and last week - lamb shanks w/mashed potatoes. Just terrific.
