The first time we tried coming here on a weekend but the restaurant and parking lot were packed. We came on a Monday, I'm still surprised to see that they are semi busy on a workday. The parking lot and the restaurant on a weekday morning is plentiful. Service could be improved. Is it Maria? The young and cute one that provided an awesome service. The older, mean looking one was not very friendly. She gave us mediocre service. Prices are slightly expensive, especially for a large orange juice. We ordered half biscuits and gravy, stuffed French toast, and sweet hot fried chicken and waffles. I'm not quite sure why my half order of biscuits and gravy took about 22 mins to make. It was faster at other places. They were good, not amazing. We received the main entrees a few minutes later. They were huge portions. I got my fried chicken on the mild side because I didn't know how spicy they make it. The mild version was still good. They were easy to cut and tangy. The waffles were firm but soft. The stuffed French toast was loaded with cream cheese inside and I like the generous amount of fresh fruit. Overall, the experience is like a solid 4. read more

I shall start with the good. This is the closest place to our home when we both have extra-busy work days, with meetings, calls, etc. This is a woman-owned business, which I am happy to support. My husband is a human garbage disposal (rude, but true). He is happy to eat here. I really hate this place. They are overpriced, very overcrowded (on any day of the week, however do not even attempt to get a table on the weekend). If you decide to come anyway, know that they provide no seating for waiting customers. This dump is standing room only. They have (kind of, to be generous) a couple of options for vegans. Their hashbrowns are made with canola oil, and by default only, they are vegan. They serve a very bad fruit cup at a very high price. If you bring your own vegan butter, their toast and English muffin are options as well. Vegetarians do well at any breakfast diner. There are no Celiac/gluten-free options that are marked, however to my limited knowledge eggs and hashbrowns are safe (minus toast) I really try to do my best and include everyone of every dietary choice/need in my reviews. read more

Lily's is one of those true one fashioned Midwest diners that you find hidden out in the suburbs. The portions are heavy, the seating is tight, and the prices are just right. Overall we were happy with the experience, and the rooted feel of the restaurant. Service felt a little rushed, however, since only one server was working the floor while we were there. A good friend of mine that lives in madison came on a weekend and took me to this place to get the best chilaquiles ever! Everything fresh maded, not too salty and the right amount of spicy, I loved to make it with sunny side eggs, I made it a point for brunchs occasionally and bring friends just to try this place from time on time. Lily's Cafe doesn't really need another review. I will write this for customers who will dine here for the first time. We were first timers on a Friday morning. Con: it looks like there are 2 handicapped parking spots in front of the restaurant. One spot was occupied. The other had 2 orange cones blocking the use of it. We had to park far away. When we left the restaurant at approx. 9:45am, one of the servers was removing the cones. Now the space was open for someone with a Handicapped sticker or plates could park there. I don't understand why the parking spot was blocked off before 9:45am Another Con: A gentleman came in much later than we did. The server immediately sat him , took his order, and immediately took his order and left to turn it into the kitchen. His order was delivered before ours. Perhaps he was a regular there. One of my pet peeves is serving customers out of order. Pros: a very large menu for a small diner. The breakfast egg entree was very good. The women's restroom was very clean. My mom was in town to visit and This Cafe popped up with great reviews. So we decided to check it out. It's a small cafe and you can seat yourself. We got there pretty early so enough seats. I will say it did get very busy by the time we left. The staff was super nice and quick. The food was so delicious!!!!!!! It was mouth watering. My friend and I split the chilaquiles with chicken and the stuffed French toast. They were both amazing! The chilaquiles were very authentic and delicious. They split the order for us and as you can tell it is a generous portion! Coffee was also quite tasty! The waitresses were so attentive and kind and checked on us multiple times. Everyone there seemed to be enjoying their meals. It has a welcoming feel to it when you are there. While staying in Lombard, sought out this place for breakfast based on reviews, and I'm glad I did. Located in a strip mall, it would be easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled. To begin with, if you're a breakfast restaurant, your coffee had better be good. Lily's did not disappoint on this score. But we were just getting started. I had the sweet hot chicken and waffles, with the mango habanero glaze. Our server assured me it was mild, but it had a nice kick; perhaps too much for someone who doesn't like spice. I loved it. The waffles were studded with bacon and were perfectly fluffy--a great complement to the chicken. My sister enjoyed her French toast combo, and was pleased that she could get turkey sausage with it. She said she wished the French toast had been a little more custardy, but that it was still very good. Likewise, my husband liked his corned beef hash skillet, but noted that it was a bit light on the corned beef. Not a large space, by any stretch of the imagination, but apparently they used to have a center table with a set of stools on each side, which they removed, and added more dining. We'll say they make good use of the space that they have . Had the biscuits and gravy and definitely they were well above average, they did not come with potatoes. Had bacon, as a side, which was nice and crispy . My friend had a skillet and proclaimed it quite enjoyable. Not his first time, however. Nor will it be the last for either one of us. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was casual and easy going. Staff was nice and chill. Bathrooms clean, Parking is decent. They recently celebrated a five-year anniversary under the new management but I've been a fan of Lily's for a long time before the change. I'm so glad they continue to offer excellent food and fast and friendly service. Lily's is a neighborhood gem and I absolutely love their chilaquiles de la casa with eggs-over-easy! The portion is still generous, so I can easily get two meals out of it. What a deal! Lily's is very busy on the weekends, so try visiting for breakfast during the week, if you can. A gem of a find! Visiting the area and looking for a local place for breakfast, how fortunate we were to find Lily's Cafe. The service was impeccable from the initial welcome to the thank you as leaving we felt at home and cared for very well. We ordered off of the Lilys special menu for the holidays - a Cuban sandwich, breakfast burrito with chorizo and chilaquiles con Rojas with chicken, avocado and scrambled egg. Every bite was tasty and beautifully presented. The chilaquiles sauce was flavorful with a bit of spice, tortilla were crispy, the eggs perfectly cooked. This dish could easily serve two hungry people so a box was needed for take out which were promptly gobbled up by family who slept in. Lily's Cafe is my new favorite breakfast spot. This place flies under the radar but delivers on all points. Good food, good service, good prices. We went for breakfast on a weekday morning and were one of only a few groups there. The dining room is small... the entire place is small... but they go big on other points: food and service. After running through the menu a couple times we made our choices and enjoyed the relaxed and homey atmosphere. We had some pretty standard items (pancakes, bagel with jelly, etc.) but I had the a special, the Mexican Benedict, and was blown away. I love me an EB but this was AMAZING: it had avocado, chorizo, and a spicy hollandaise that changed my life! I don't know know I'm going to go back to a regular Benedict now... Also, the portions are perfectly-sized, just the right amount of food. This whole experience was topped off by the wonderful staff. The cook was quick to prepare food and our waitress, Deloris(?), was an absolutely delight. She was all smiles in everything she did and cemented a feeling of at-home cooking that left us feeling warm and welcome inside. Lily's Cafe is the epitome of why Yelp is great: I stumbeled upon it while looking for a new breakfast spot and the reviews spoke loud and clear - this spot is fantastic.
