Absolutely delicious cupcakes! I couldn't stop eating them. The salted caramel was amazing. The buttercream is sweet but not too sweet, and the cake is moist. I forgot to do "check in" yesterday when I stopped in however I couldn't pass up the opportunity to write a review about all the deliciousness!! The chocolate eclairs tastes amazing.. the chocolate, the filling is just right, and the pastry shell, good flavor and I loved that it didn't get soggy. The frosting on the cupcakes is delicious.. not too sweet, wonderful buttercream flavor. And the coffee, I was asked if I wanted a Americano; not something I usually order but.. sure why not.. it was one of the best cups of coffee ever!! Other things.. shop is clean, staff helpful, and I would have given 5 stars if only they had bags for customers to carry purchases in; balancing 3 boxes and a coffee on my walk back to the garage wasn't too bad but the whole way back to the car I prayed that I didn't drop anything. Dana made an exquisite wedding cake for our 30ish person "COVID" friendly wedding last year. From the tasting at her adorable bakery in Leesburg to the delivery and preparation of the cake, everything was perfect. We opted for a double chocolate layer and a pina colada layer. I still feel, and have guests telling me, it was the best cake they ever tasted. She also worked closely with our florist to incorporate fresh flower decorations around the cake per my wishes. She is such an excellent cake decorator, the hardest part was really choosing a design. read more

I ordered a cake from this shop for a baby shower. I had very specific ideas about what I wanted - a rainbow theme with baby animals - and I got exactly what I asked for! The cake was gorgeous and it was the star of the baby shower (except for the mama-to-be of course). And oh my gosh - it was delicious. I love buttercream, so it was covered and filled with delicious buttercream frosting. The bottom layer was chocolate cake with mint buttercream frosting and the top layer was confetti cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. It doesn't really show up in the photo but the frosting was covered with sparkle so the cake glittered! Everyone thought it was so adorable and delicious. Also it was delivered to the party on time and in perfect condition - so one less thing to stress about on the day of the party. It wasn't cheap - but it was really worth the money. Shopping in the Leesburg area and checked out the Villages of Leesburg. Saw the Bakery sign from across the way. No greeting as you entered shoppe.Waited inside at the front counter/case for at least 10 minutes maybe longer before I was asked if I'd like anything. There was 1 heavy set girl w/dark hair, in braids, who saw me standing in front of her but chose to ignore me. Too bad, because I was planning on buying a birthday cake next month for my mom. I am very disappointed with wedding cake that Dana delivered on 08/28/21 to a wedding venue. 1. the wedding cake was damaged ( I have picture of the damage) 2. it had completely different flowers, not what were in contracts. the flowers had to be the same as on her business card picture. 3. Design of white tensile also was different. I cannot call it "design"what she place on the cake. Dana did not call me after setting up the cake even though I was close by in the wedding area. She simply left wedding venue without giving me opportunity to see the cake. She never apologize for damage to the cake and different much more simple design. I decided that she will never do it so had to create this post. Original design of flowers is on her business card. She can check easily. Very unresponsive and poor customer communication. I wanted to order a simple 8" marble cake. I called, texted, and emailed and didn't receive a single response until 11:45 the night before I wanted it. They simply emailed me telling me they couldn't fulfill the order. I recently moved to the area and wanted to do something nice for a local company. I was ignored and will not try to order from them again. I found a better provider for a better price. I was disappointed by the experience I had at this place. First of all, if you sell croissants and pastries, you should be open way before 10. I do not wish to eat my croissant for dinner. Second, if you sell me croissants from the day before, first ask me if that is alright and also maybe give a small discount in case you do! I know the croissant was from the day before since they first said they did not have any and went in the back to find some more. The croissant definitely tasted old, even after warming it up. As far as taste, besides the croissant, I can not complain. I tried the onion/parmesan pastry, the eclair, and the tiramisu and pistachio macarons and all were really good. I especially liked the macarons since they were not too sweet. As far as price, I think they are overpriced so I do not think I will go back to this place. I'm sad to say it, but the cake and cupcakes I bought were awful! Save the icing (on the cupcakes) ~ it was amazing! The cake in both cupcakes was super hard and dry, and the chocolate cake I had was super dry, hard and not tasty at all! I spent $24, and walked away completely sad that I wasted that money! I am basing this on an eclair I bought today. I also bought carrot cake for my husband but have not had it yet. My favorite dessert has always been a good & real eclair! I give it an 8 out of 10 rating. It has a pretty good real egg pastry cream filling & not mixed with whipped cream. It has a sufficient amount of good dark chocolate on top- Its not cake frosting which I dislike. The pastry was nice & thin and on the flaky side- not soggy. My only dislike is for me, it's just a little too much sugar in the filling. I feel the sweetness of the chocolate is enough & the pastry cream should be just a tad less sweet. But that's how I like all my desserts; probably less sweetness than most people do. I really enjoyed it! I try to buy one when in s new area if I see a bakery to compare. Some of my guest remarked how "not fresh" the cupcakes were. This quality isn't indicative of this shop as I've had delicious moist cake previously from this bakery. I've tried four cake flavors here (lemon mascarpone, toasted almond, chocolate hazelnut, and pistachio ricotta) and they are all delicious and well crafted. They also make great coffee. My husband and I went out to an early Friday night dinner and wanted to pick up desert on the way home. We are new to the area so I googled bakeries around us and chose Dana's Cake Shoppe after reading all the stellar reviews! I was so excited to stop in to get some cupcakes or cake. This is more of a gourmet bakery with a smaller selection of bakery items. Everything looked beautiful and delicious. Small cupcake $4+, cake slices $6+. I purchased a slice of chocolate cake to share with my husband. This is the absolute worst cake I have ever had. So glad I only purchased one slice. The cake was old, stale and sickening sweet. The actual cake part was hard dry crumbs held together with chocolate syrup icing. The syrup icing reminded me of a bottle of Hershey's syrup- nothing against Hershey's syrup but it is not supposed to be icing on a cake. I'm so disappointed and perplexed why a gourmet bakery would sell old cake. read more
