I have gone full circle with Kia of Danbury, but lately I am not feeling the love. I brought my 2019 Sorento in on May 22nd, 2026, because I was experiencing some loss of power during acceleration. I was told it would be best for me to leave it. I did not hear back from them all day, but I realized that might be a possibility. They held the car through the entire Memorial Day Weekend, which I still understood. On May 26th I called and I wasn't expecting it to be repaired, but at least I was hoping for a diagnosis after four days. I will not reveal the young lady's name who was asssigned to my case, but I will say she seemed indifferent. No calls from her... No updates... The only answer I kept getting from her was "It may be a transmission problem... We need to hear back from corporate." Finally on May 27th, I called and asked if they had heard back from corporate and the young lady answered "No." I asked to speak to a manager and she informed me she was in a meeting. Being frustrated from the lack of service and lack of response I informed the person I would be coming in to pick up the car. When I arrived, the young lady asked me if I wanted to speak with the manager. I told her I am no longer interested in dealing with Kia. She informed me that if I drive it past the 100K miles, it will not be fixed under the warranty. My response to her was, "It's not being fixed anyway!" I took the car to my local mechanic, and he made the repairs. It turned out the problem was not the transmission at all. I may be incorrect, but I believe Kia was ghosting me so I would become frustrated and not compel them to make the repairs under the warranty that I paid into for nearly five years! I only owe $3,000 more on this car, and I will soon be in the market for another, but with the frustration I have experienced, I will not likely buy another Kia again... People should be aware that their corporate headquarters only had 2.2 stars... That should be a red flag for anyone. read more

We went to a reputable Kia dealership the next day and got essentially the same deal (including the trade-in). It took half the time and we were never accused of trying to "scam them." I am writing to file a complaint regarding my vehicle purchased from this dealership approximately 3 years ago, at which time a 10-year manufacturer's warranty and a lifetime engine warranty provided by Kia Danbury were also agreed upon. I emphasize that all inspections and maintenance services have been performed exclusively at this dealership, as instructed at the time of purchase. Yesterday, when I inquired about the warranties, I was informed that maintenance records had been incorrectly registered under a VIN number belonging to another vehicle. Based on this error, I was told that my warranty had been voided. I consider this unacceptable, as it is clearly an internal administrative mistake. Furthermore, I would like to highlight a serious incident that occurred during an oil change performed by this dealership, in which the valve was left open, resulting in a complete oil leak and subsequent damage to my vehicle. In light of these facts, I request the immediate correction of the records, reinstatement of the warranty as originally agreed, and full responsibility for the damages caused to my vehicle. The sales manager Jeremy Winter once again reminded me why I have bought 4 Kias now and done ALL my service from their Danbury KIA location even though its an hour away with several other Kia dealers far closer to me. He honored a conversation I'd had with my salesman and others there at Kia 4 months earlier despite I did not have it in writing - resulting in another lifelong happy customer. I will ALWAYS go out of my way to tell others to Goto Danbury - thanks to him. Horrible experience with this dealership. We made an early appointment to see a specific car that my husband had found online. It had a hard-to-find feature that we've been waiting several months to find, and my husband made clear we were ONLY interested in this specific used car. As a favor to the sales rep, Bernie, my husband agreed to wait to come in on Monday instead of Sunday bc Bernie was off on Sunday; Bernie assured my husband he would keep the keys in his desk to save the car for us. My husband even asked about putting down a deposit to reserve it, but Bernie never got back to him. Our appointment for seeing the specific car was confirmed the day before. We drove 2 hours to the dealership only to find out it had been sold the day before. Bernie was not even apologetic about the situation. We were understandably angry, and yet he was more concerned about feeling "disrespected" that we were pissed, and I used a curse word in frustration with regard to the time wasted (NOT cursing at him). Bernie could have just called to let us know it had been sold before we made the long drive. Zero respect for customers and their time. Poor communication and customer service in our experience, which is mind-boggling considering how much of this process is now automated. I can agree to Tommy T's 1/14/24 review. Same issues the past 2 times that I tried to purchase vehicles from them. Thank God I walked away both times. Agreed upon numbers didn't make the paperwork and when I caught the errors I was told can we split the difference? Walking away twice ended up saving me close the $5000 total on 2 purchases. I did try their service dept. Had tires replaced and when I went to pick up the vehicle I did a walk around only to find they changed only 2 and charged me for 4 tires along with an alignment. How do you do an alignment when the only tires changed were the 2 rear? Back inside and said I had to come back on Monday. Got home and noticed the wiper blades also were not changed but I was charged. You can't make this up. read more

Spent 3 hrs in the dealer. Went to bank to cut the check. Came back, got to the Financing dept with Frank. The trade in value is not what we asked for or agreed to. We had come and shown them Carvana and Carmax trade in comps. Manager comes out from nowhere and tells us they are not selling the car anymore. OK. I will just go to the next Kia dealer. I went to go buy my first car at this dealership with bright eyes... left with tears instead. I had expressed interest in a 2016 Jeep Wrangler, and was met with crudeness, unprofessionalism, and straight con artists. After finding a representative that was actually genuine (Thanks Al!) I bought the Jeep. On arrival to pick it up, I overheard a group of disgusting men who worked there cussing me out thinking I wasn't serious about the car. I have been waiting for a part to come in for my trunk turns out it came in and has been sitting there... no one has called or cared to let me to schedule it... meanwhile I have noticed another issue called to schedule an appointment so they could check it out... 1st they are already arguing that it's probably not gonna be covered on your warranty (scum bags already trying to get me to pay out of pocket) that it would take all day or longer to diagnose and the there is no courtesy vehicle for me, (must just be for more important customer) and that I would have to rent a car out of pocket... I leased a 2022 Kia on July 30, 2022, with Jeff Sousou. This is the third time my husband and I have worked with him - my husband bought a Kia from him last year, and I purchased a used car from him about 4 or 5 years ago - and he left such a great impression on us back then, there was no question where we were going to go when we needed new cars. We referred many people to him, specifically, as well as Kia of Danbury. We called him "the only honest car salesman ever." On Sunday, August 7th, someone attempted to steal my car. They smashed in my passenger side window and tore out my steering column and severely damaged the wiring and ignition. After obtaining the police report and calling my insurance company, I contacted Jeff to see if there was anything special I needed to do, as the car is a lease. At his suggestion, I had it towed to their shop - with his assurance that he'd talk to "his guys, Lance and Jimmy" - to move me to the top of the line. As my husband and I have had positive experiences with Jeff, I had absolutely no reason to doubt him and did exactly that. Regardless, I was without a car until October 5th - and had made two payments on it, had been making insurance payments on it, and had experienced extreme disruptions to my life for almost two months with virtually no communication from the shop or dealership. On September 17, my husband actually went to the dealership to speak with Jeff, personally, as we were unable to reach him via phone and he was not returning our calls. He told my husband, due to the length of time I had been without a car, and the short amount of time I had one, he could easily just swap in a different car and get me out of that lease, no problem, I just had to work something out with my insurance. When I spoke with them (and I admit, they ALSO dropped some balls here) although there was NO follow up from Kia (I'd be fired from my job if I didn't follow up on urgent matters). (And as far as I can tell, that is what happened with the woman, Karly, I was dealing with - who would only respond via text message - and then just started ignoring me when I asked for updates on my car. Meanwhile, I managed to get those requests regarding my insurance cleared and let Jeff know - and as he was so "I'll absolutely get her into a car" with Steve, and told me, on Monday the 19th "I'd get you into a car today, if not for the insurance", I was positive things would work out. Unfortunately, things went very south. When I finally got in touch with him - and he is aware that we are in a very tight financial situation (something he always claimed to be very sympathetic toward) - he informed me that I would be leasing a different, brand-new car, and my payments would be going up - which is something I cannot afford, and is absolutely not what he said to Steve when he spoke to him. He started to get quite an attitude with me, questioning me about how I "expected to get a used car when I have no money and a poor credit score?, asking me if it was his fault someone tried to steal my car, and saying, "I really don't have time to explain the ways of the world to you, I have sixteen customers like you calling me every day" -- which is probably not good for business if there are that many on-going problems with customers. And yes, I did lose my temper and say some regrettable things to him... but I once genuinely respected him, and thought of him as a man of his word and someone who could be trusted, and carried his card in my wallet and recommended him, and the dealership, to many friends, as did my husband. That is something I would not do now, or ever again. In fact, I think the way he treated me - both dismissively and disrespectfully, he is detrimental to the business, overall. The fact that the service center cannot fix a damaged vehicle in months is quite disturbing. They had my car longer than I have had my car, which I am paying for, and frankly, that's not right. I had to get to and from work, appointments, and other things - and had to rely on my husband and friends for everything I do. Considering the amount of money I was paying - and much of the reason I am doing so is because Jeff is a good salesman and was able to close a sale on a car that I was a bit hesitant on in the first place - this seems so terribly wrong. I attempted to contact Steve Sinardi, the General Manager of the dealership, multiple times, but apparently, returning a call or answering an email is just too much of a hassle for him. He must have too many dissatisfied customers to even keep up with, and would prefer to ignore them, than speak to them, or reassure them in any way that they will be getting some kind of customer service. Our experience at Danbury Kia was a spectacular display of incompetence and shady business practices, particularly exemplified by their finance/business manager. The entire car buying experience was a cringe-worthy affair, leaving me questioning the dealership's integrity at every turn and nothing short of a disaster. The entire ordeal was marked by incompetence, excessive wait times, and the shameless use of every stereotypical car dealership sales tactic in the book. We spoke with the sales rep (Jose) on a specific model that just came in. Everything down to the price and fees were agreed upon over the phone and we left a deposit to come see and purchase the car the next day given it was a 2 hour drive from NYC. Jose was great, over communicated and understood where we were coming from with our 8 month old baby. However, when we arrived, we were forced to wait close to two hours for our scheduled appointment to finalize the transaction. It's baffling that a supposedly professional dealership can be so disrespectful of customers' time. Once we finally got to the business side of things with the finance/business Manager (Jeff Campaniolo), it became painfully clear that honesty and transparency were not in Danbury Kia's vocabulary. Jeff took center stage in turning an already dreadful experience into a masterclass in unscrupulous behavior. His demeanor was reminiscent of a used car salesman from a sketchy movie plot, more concerned with trickery than genuine customer satisfaction. He quickly ran through the paperwork without allowing us to review the documents. When we started to read through any document, Jeff would become brash, impatient and wanted us to leave his office to review the dozens of paperwork and come back in an hour or so with any questions. I don't want to drag this on so long story short, it was clear we fell for all the stereotypical car dealership tactics from the moment we stepped on the lot. From coercive upselling to burying fees in the fine print, this individual embodied the worst stereotypes associated with car dealerships. If someone comes into your dealership stating they want to buy a new car.. you sell them a car! My car had died a few days earlier, so I was in desperate need of a new car. I was interested in the sorento and telluride. I looked inside both and went back the next day to test drive them. I went back a 3rd time to actually purchase one and they low-balled me on my then repaired trade-in, just stating they "heard a rattle" and ignoring the kbb value altogether. They then claimed they were giving me a deal by not selling it above the sticker price (they had previously made no mention that they were marking up their cars despite having budget conversations with them). My salesman said all other dealerships were selling their cars above sticker price-- newsflash: the 9 other cars I looked at that week at other danbury dealerships are not marking up their cars! They then tried to sell me a demo with decent miles on it at the same price as a brand new one. Are people this desperate for kias?! Zero flexibility, zero service and an all around negative experience. Do yourself a favor and go next door to mazda! Got a brand new, beautiful cx-90 there that is very similar to a sorento and telluride with comped oil changes and great service. They incorrectly dated the purchase forms and registration forms on the used car I bought, and now I can't get my plates (the forms are dated 7/31 and the insurance is date the actual purchase date of Aug 3rd). I can't get my plates because the state will think I was driving without insurance for a few days. I don't know what quota-making scam this is, but it's really hurting me. Plus they said they were gonna mail a second key and they simply haven't. At some point we got an envelope that was sliced open, so hopefully that wasn't it....they said they were gonna FedEx/UPS it, but maybe they "made a mistake" there too. read more

My car was in at 8:15 for routine maintenance and by 9:45 we went up to the desk to let them know we were going to walk the parking lot and look at other vehicles to which the guy goes "I actually need to talk to you." Turns out I needed to have some work done on my breaks, which is fine as it's an extremely important part of the vehicle. First what I would like to know is if my car was sitting there done why didn't anyone come to us, not for nothing we have jobs too that we needed to get home for. We go home and by 1:15 I sent a follow up text for the status of my vehicle, and again "yep your car is ready" ok well again why didn't anyone call or text me? Get there and are given a total of $1,421 (after being told it was gonna cost around $800) but we figured with the oil change and other maintenance maybe this was reasonable. Turns out we were charged $907.28 for labor. They have a giant sign in their lobby that says labor cost (I believe it was about $169 or $179 per hour). Our oil change labor was only $24.95 which was what was being done from 8:15-9:45. Leaving $882.33 in labor for the break issues if you do the math that's about 5 hours worth of labor, however when I texted my car was already done by 1:30 and we were told they break for lunch from 12-1 so how is it that my car was being worked on for 5 hours from 10 AM to 1:30 PM with a 1 hour break? Something isn't adding up. Everything about this dealership seems greedy. One of the only few dealerships we know still doing market adjustments on vehicles. Thieves. I will no longer be using Danbury Kia for anything, we'll instead take the drive all the way back up to Poughkeepsie where we bought my car. read more

Although the business uses COVID as an excuse to try to gouge their customers for an average one-hit wonder car, they have no problem exposing their customers and employees to COVID risks by forcing them to drive in a chaperoned test drive. Worst customer service I have ever experiences. If you call and they don't want to listen to your issue they hang up on you. They have shady business practices and are rude and unprofessional. If I owned or was a manager at this location, I would be embarrassed by the employees I have and how they treat customers. I was given a loaner car that was an employee's personal vehicle and was disquietingly dirty and stunk of cigarettes. I was desperate and needed a car to get to a meeting, so I took it. The car broke down and they said they couldn't come and get me for hours, so my husband had to leave work to get me. The ridiculous and overpriced "conveyance" fee of $1,300, they claim, is non-negotiable. They use a bait and switch tactic by advertising amazing discounts online that they simply won't match at the dealership. Update 1: Since they asked (below), I'll elaborate: my primary (but far from only) issue was that it was impossible to connect with anyone and no one ever got back to me after I'd purchased my car when I called with a fairly simple but very important question. I had to call a dozen times, and no one has time for that. Once this place gets your money, they don't care about doing right by you. They also messed up the registration and made a million other small but annoying errors that raise red flags (the processing took forever and then it turned out they'd misspelled my name and we had to wait even longer as they fixed the error). I post 1 start because I can't post zero, it's the worse dealership, they are liars. I went to by a car and I already had the loan approved by my bank, they told me that if I did it with Kia they could give me the same or lower interest rate, I told them that I did not want to run my credit, but I gave them permission to do it JUST ONCE, I told them this more than 10 times. When they gave me the papers to sign, they showed me that they ran my credit twice, with Kia and with another bank, it was without my authorization, when I complained about this, they started laughing at me and said that it wasn't his fault. When I looked at the papers from the second bank, they had taken of $1,250 because they only gave it rebate with Kia financing and according to the person who did it, he didn't know that because he was a new worker. Additionally, they charge $1299 for papers fees (other dealerships does not charge it), they miscalculated the taxes (obviously too much). As I was discovering everything they were doing wrong, they became more and more rude until I got tired, and I left. At that moment I went to another Kia (Newburgh) and showed them all the paperwork that I supposedly had approved from Kia and they told me that Kia denied my loan, so, the other dealership lied more than I thought, because they ran my credit without my permission because I was not approved, and they still want to make the finance. Please do not go to Danbury Kia, you are going to pay a lot more money than any other dealership. read more

This happened about two years ago. My daughters 2013 Forte broke down on I84 and I had it towed to the nearest KIA dealer which was Danbury Kia. After having it for about a week (no call back to multiple inquiries), they finally told us the car needed extensive work a cost over $2000. The car was barely worth that much so I asked them to just make it drivable so we could park it. The bill for that was $250 and we took it off the lot. We took the car to a local mechanic at around 9am the next day. They called at 4pm and said the car was ready, all it needed was a new battery. She has been driving it to and from work every day since, with no problem. This place is seriously criminal. Beware!!! read more

Took my car here today for a recall service. Right when I pulled into the lot two employees in two vehicles were talking to each other blocking both ways of traffic flow. I ended up having to go around. The lot itself is a mess no clear direction where to park.. I ended up parking my car where it said dodge only, I got out of the car and was immediately yelled at by some dodge employee. Already being annoyed by the situation I told the guy I was getting my car serviced and kept walking. I guess the service guy at Kia saw and came running over and offered to move my car ~ nice save. When I got inside there was three people working at the desks, one on the phone and one doing nothing and the other helping someone else. I was not greeted by the "busy" employee so I waited for the other to finish up... upon checking in she proceeds to tell me she didn't have an appointment and then shuffled some papers around and said ok, we can service you.. When my car was done the guy walked me out which was nice, but then gave me a sheet of answers that I should choose for their survey offered a free oil change for 100% rating and rambled about a car wash..... I'm sorry what? Are you trying to bribe me to accommodate your silly survey so you can win another false customer award!? If you can avoid go somewhere else.... otherwise be prepared for a slugggy slow chaos of a service. read more

Sorry to say the sales side of this dealership has a serious flaw. A particular sales person. I'm sorry somebody didn't show up for work so you are doing extra work. But the customer is not responsible. When we say we want to look at a car, please give us the choice to see the car before you start the paperwork. I've never seen that before and I don't want to experience it again. I probably would have gone along. Why not? You're the one doing extra work if I don't want the car I came to see. But I'm not a man. Men just want to see the car, and say so. When we were walking to the door to leave and you say "do you want to see the car or not?" I would have said "not now I don't" But he decided to stay. "It's an as is car" is not something I would have said to a customer as they got behind the wheel. Off putting. You had to charge the thing. Naturally I asked if you were going to ensure the battery would hold a charge or put in another battery. I'm sorry you don't have the salesmanship to come up with a better answer than "we aren't putting anything new in that car. At the price, it's as is" A 10 year old car is not going to command a top price. I've been in sales for 40 years. I give sales people a critique, good and bad. Guess you didn't like hearing that your poor attitude was the reason we were leaving rather than looking around. "I don't have an attitude. I was very nice" is what you said as I walked away. Bet you had plenty more to say under your breath. I've been pleased by the service department and I will probably bring my Kia there again. I wrote a review last October and this is an update. After a couple of days of my review I was contacted from Kia Danbury, and they agreed to fix my car. Apparently, the cameras were not working at the time my car was there and Danbury Volkswagen had pictures of receiving the car damage. I am very pleased they fixed my car, however this is a bad experience I have to learn from. Advice-? take pictures of your car when you drop it off and received it after any work done. Kia is the worst ! They do not stand by their products . I have a 2015 sorrento with 3 years of payments left . Blown engine . No warning lights nothing . Dealer Maintained and when towed into the shop there was no oil . It had just been for service . No oil low light nothing to indicate a problem! What did kia offer us ? A bill of 12,000 to fix it . so now I have a 460 payment every month on a car that doesn't run . From this dealer to corporate they absolutely do not care once you sign . BUYERS BEWARE !!!! Edited for truth Kia is not the one who discovered no oil ! Another mechanic did . Total engine failure with no warning or reason ! Kia did make an offer of 1200 towards the $12,000 Bill .
