the lift! one of the many crowd pleasers of our dance routine!

One of the best investments we made in preparation for our wedding! My husband wanted to learn a dance routine and "put on a show" for all our guests, so he did all the work to find this place and they were so great! Neither my husband or I are dancers, yet they were able to teach us and were flexible to accommodate our schedule despite the hectic timeframe as we squeezed in 3 two-hour classes in the 10 days leading up to our wedding! :) We did plenty of tripping and stepping on each other's toes and the practice dress, but in the end I think we did pretty ok! Our family and friends were so surprised that we could dance (like I said, we aren't exactly known for having that talent), which goes to show wonderful the instructors at Dance Reverie are! The tempo of the song we chose didn't really go with the dance style we were comfortable with (slow waltz), but our instructor was able to modify it for us and make it work. And my husband wanted to do a lift, despite my fear of falling out of my big poufy dress, hahaha, so they helped us to learn all the right flourishes including a lift that got everyone's attention. It was so incredibly fun, and my husband and I plan on going back for more dance lessons in the future.

YUKA YUKA YUKA YUKA. She is the one to see. Her 7 dance classes made our wedding dance an outstanding success. Her patient and humorous demeanor made us feel very at ease and able to express ourselves through dance. She gave slow step by step instructions. They were also very generous w the payment plan and we never felt pressured by them to take more classes or pay ASAP. We were beyond pleased with YUKA and Dance Reverie and highly recommend this dance studio to everyone!!!!

I have four words for you... KARI IS THE BEST!!!! My husband and I were trying really hard to learn the Rhumba on our own for our first dance at our wedding and we were able to get the basic steps down but obviously we knew we needed a real professionals touch to correct us and show us a trick or two! If you are getting married... and hunting for an amazing dance studio to learn a thing or two... Or even if you just want to have some fun and learn how to REALLY dance... This is DEFINITELY the place to go!!! Reasonable prices, flexible schedule, and Ive only worked with Kari as a private instructor so far but we LOVED her!! She really explained everything and took the time to make sure we would look our best! We actually really look forward to seeing her in the future and now we have so much fun dancing!! No more high school swaying here anymore! The studio isn't huge but its been enough and now crazy intimidating. Its a great space for beginnings to spin around the dance floor without getting overwhelmed and you can have some fun! Its very clean and very well lit!

My husband and I decided to take dance lessons to prepare for our first dance at our wedding! Before our classes, my husband really did not enjoy dancing and now he feels more comfortable on the dance floor! Hanna was so easy to work with! She made us feel comfortable and well prepared for our first dance :) every lesson was enjoyable with her and we learned a lot from her!

I can't believe it has taken me this long to write this review. We found Kari and Dance Reverie in the last 2 months leading up to our wedding knowing we both had limited dance experience and were nervous for our first dance. Kari was awesome in listening to what we wanted and tailoring a beautiful first dance for us that wasn't too complicated but gave us more then swaying. An added bonus working with her was such a fun time to relax and be together leading up to our wedding. I would highly recommend everyone to check out this place, the first lesson is free after all and you can't go wrong!

A dip perfected by Kari for our wedding reception. She transformed my husband into a pro!

We did our wedding dance lessons with Kari at Dance Reverie, and she was simply amazing! Within 5-7 lessons, she is able to teach ballroom dancer beginners an impressive performance to execute. She focuses on small details like helping you customize a position to make it easy for you to execute or helping you get used to doing the routine in heavier clothing (like wedding outfits usually are). Also, Kari was really caring and did everything she could to create our dream wedding dance. We slayed at our reception thanks to her! We highly recommend her and may even take dance lessons with her in the future just as a fun date night activity!

    Last move. The lift!

They also provide bathrooms for changing and cubbies in the studio to store your belongings.

This time, I took class with Amber, and she is truly a 10 out of 10 -- from her character to her teaching style, choreography, and ability to educate dancers in real time. She doesn't just teach steps; she teaches movement vocabulary and helps you understand how to inhabit the choreography as it unfolds. That presence and clarity make the experience special. A lot of what I enjoy about Sass Class comes down to both the choreographers and the energy of the space. That said, there are some practical considerations. There is no elevator, which can be challenging because of the number of stairs you have to go up and down. The studio itself is small but functional. There's a small waiting area, a check-in desk, two bathrooms, and a spot to quickly change if needed. There are two studios, which allows classes to run smoothly without feeling crowded. The location is central, not far from Moynihan Train Hall or Port Authority, and there are plenty of food options nearby for before or after class. Overall, SASS Class continues to be a space I value. I fully intend to take more classes there in the future. For me, it's about the quality of instruction, the intentionality of the movement, and the community -- and that keeps drawing me back.

They have a schedule updated monthly, with separate sign-up options for both member and non-members. As a non member, I paid for the drop-in class, which was $25. The class runs for an hour with around 10+ students, where an instructor first starts up with a quick warm-up and then jumps into teaching you a choreo to the song. The choreo is broken into several routines, so you learn them slowly in detail, and then piece them all together with the song incrementally. Dancing is as challenging for your brain as it is for your body, as you need to really exercise your memory and mind body coordination! The whole class went by super fast. Everyone who went seemed to be regulars and quite experienced, but you'd be too busy trying to master the dance to care. At the end, we are placed into two groups, where we are given a chance to perform and record ourselves. When you get off the elevator there's a few benches there that you can sit and wait and a desk for you to register/sign in. Sign in process was easy and simple and they told me the room the class was going to be in. The hallways of the studio is a bit tight so we had to shuffle around with the people that were coming out and the people that were waiting for the next class but we may do. The size of the class room is a decent size for the amount of people that showed up. The teacher was very informative and assisted with steps and would go over steps as well just for the people that may have missed steps. There was also apart in the class where you got to work with a partner that was fun you got to meet different people. This place is deserving of it's glowing reviews…read more I signed up for a Friday evening Beginner's hip hop class with Ryan who was covering for Rob that day. As someone with zero dance experience, I found the pace of the class too quick and had a hard time keeping up, but that's not anyone's fault. If you have two left feet like me, it can feel intimidating and honestly, discouraging because all the students are great dancers (seriously, have you seen the class videos?), but as Ryan said..practice makes perfect and you just have to keep at it. Despite the nerves, I'd come again because the classes would be a great way to get out of your comfort zone (if you're not a dancer and/or have stage fright) and build confidence. I also recommend dragging a friend to go with you if it's your first time. For you first timers, the building is right to Taco Bell (burritos after class, anyone? Haha) and staples is on the corner of the same block. classes are on the 4th floor. When you get into the building, show your ID to the front desk and they'll give you elevator access. Classes are on the 4th floor and you don't need to check in with them at the front desk. Once the class begins, the receptionist in your studio will check you in. There's a changing room and you leave your belongings in the studio. As for dress code, wear athleisure or something comfortable. I saw jeggings, shorts, tanks, leggings, and sweats. I'm not sure if all the classes are like this so don't take my word for it, but it begins with a 15-20 minute warmup, followed by 45-60 minutes of learning choreography, and ending with 10-15 minutes of "groups" where students are split up to have more room, followed by the opportunity to get your groove on with an even smaller group. Each group goes twice--once with the instructor guiding you, the second time without. You'll also be shuffling to different ends of the room so you can get closer if you need to. Also, each instructor chooses what they're teaching so you don't know the song choice beforehand. Now onto the actual class..Ryan is a great instructor. He breaks down all the steps clearly and at a reasonable pace. He'll repeat them as many times as you need. Again, I struggled because I take longer to learn, but despite that, I enjoyed the class. The room is small for a class with about 40 people but the high energy and positive vibes you'll get more than make up for it. Overall, I'd go again. FYI, If the class is full, you get put on the waitlist (max of up to 10 people can be on this list) and you'll be added to the class as people drop out. If you haven't heard by 11am the next day via email (cut off time to drop a class before late cancellation penalty), you can use that credit towards a different time unless you want to continue waiting to see if the class frees up.

There is also a list of scheduled classes so you can see the instructor that is teaching each class. One of the things that I really like about the hip hop classes is how much repetition is utilized to learn a choreographed routine. As a dancer of many years, 50% of the battle is memory and repetition of each mini-sequence really helps a new dancer solidfy not only the choreography but also master the details of the steps. All the instructors are extremely friendly and approachable, not necessarily so at other places. Not to mention, they do have their own different styles to accommodate different dancers' personalities. Check-in is always a smooth process with HoM staff. All the dancers that attend are super supportive and really nice as well. Nobody ever judges. I wish HoM was out here in the Bay now that I've moved. I've come to love my HoM family in my short time living in NYC. They've only added to the love that I now have for NY.
