I can only speak to the food that we've been lucky enough to order during the pandemic. Best pick-up we've had....the Vindaloo and the Neelgiri were ordered HOT and yep, nice spicy kick. Dancing Ganesha food is excellent as an Indian; I get to eat the regulars most of the time, so never interested in trying out the same dishes at restaurants, but here at Dancing Ganesha, they have curry, which most home cooks do not make like Niligirs, Chettinad, and Malabar. We tried all, and I loved Niligirs the most; the others are good. We requested, and they know what hot is, so if you are not tolerant to spice, then go very mild. We loved the hot spicy curries. In Appaterize, we loved the vegetable pakora and Mirchi bajji. Desserts we love ras malai, kulfi, and kheer - all three must try. The service to go or at the restaurant is fantastic. Please ask for Ashnole - he is one of the best. We ate here three times in the time we were at MN, and one time they gave us Pista Kulfi instead of Mango - I casually mentioned this, and Ashnole took care of us - this is customer service. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. The butter chicken that I ordered was made of sauce that had small chicken pieces that looked like they were taken from people's left overs and were added to mine. No white chicken at all and all pieces were the size if an olive or smaller. Overall, if you are in the mood for Indian, I would NOT recommend this place so save your money and order from somewhere else. read more

We wanted to go to Bombay Bistro - one of our favorite Indian restaurant but found out that it was closed. So we decided to give this place a try instead. LOVED it. We ordered lamb kadaiwala and lamb neelgiri (both unusual dishes that we seldom come across at other Indian restaurants)- medium spicy. The dishes were very well made, flavor was perfect. You can actually see the spices in the curry- like curry leaves, mustard seed, the curry was not runny, and didn't feel like they were made in batches. Top it off with a piece of garlic naan, some good basmati rice, a glass of mango lassi and we couldn't stop eating. While we were there, we noticed a lot of food delivery personnel coming by to pick up their orders. So don't be fooled by the "emptiness" of this place, they make good northern Indian food. Good Food . We ordered chicken hariyali kabab as a starters and then chicken kadai and naan as a main course. The quality is really good . Ambience was good as well. The only issue is that they served starters and main same time. By the time we finished starters the curry was cold and naan as well. They should have given some time between. Staff: 3.5/5 - The waiter treated us very indifferently. He was very attentive, but he did not smile, crack jokes, or make the experience extraordinary in any way. The other waiters in the restaurant were very chipper and pleasant sounding however, so that does raise my rating a bit. It is possible that they were short staffed and our waiter had to manage the kitchen and tables, or something along those lines. The food also did come out decently fast. Atmosphere: 2.8/5 - It looked pleasant until we were seated under some jarringly blue lights. I personally did not like it. The hubby wasn't bothered by it at all, but in my opinion it made for an unpleasant glare on the table and the person I was sitting across from. Only some of the sections had these blue lights though, so it may have been more pleasant sitting in a booth or by the bar. Besides the lights, it was dark, but peaceful. Menu: 3.6/5 - They have a good sized menu, and a little dictionary to help you understand what some of the menu items mean! I really liked that about this place. The layout was easy to read and the descriptions were good. Quality of food: 3/5 - The quality of the food about average from the Indian cuisines I have tried. We ordered the mixed appetizer platter that had Pakora, chicken tikka, somosa, and lamb kabob. All tasty. Then we had Lamb Neelgiri served over rice, and Tikka Masala served over rice Price: 2/5 - For the amount and quality of this meal I would say this was below average. The appetizer was 15.99 for something that equated to the size of two fists, and the entrees were 16.99 ($1 more for the lamb) and the Tikka Masala was 15.99 a well. These portions were more adequate and we did leave with a little bit of leftovers, but it was mostly rice. ****A large reason I'm giving the price a rating of 2 is because the total came out to be 52.96 with 5.71 in tax. Now this is over a 10% tax with a meal that had no alcohol, there was nothing about an included gratuity on the check (especially since we were a table of two), or a surcharge for asking for a to-go container. I do not appreciate being uninformed and hidden fees and I find this very abnormal for a tax amount, but if someone would like to clarify what a potential reason behind this might be, I would love to hear it. Overall: 2.9/5 - Very close to being a 3/5. If I had a different experience I may have enjoyed it more. However, I would only go back here if they had a solid reason for the high tax, and probably if I had a coupon for it as I am just as satisfied at any other Indian restaurants I have been to so far. read more

Omg the food here is so delicious, I forgot my name for a minute while I ate. I had the Vegetable Samosa, Bombay Chaat, Chettinad with Paneer extra spicy, and Naan. I started with the samosas because... yeah. And they were rich with flavor. The flaky crust on the outside was absolutely perfect. I then had a little Bombay Chaat which was a pleasant surprise. I had never had it before, and was a little surprised it looked almost like a kind of chickpea salad. But the flavor wasn't even in the same realm as a salad. Dynamic in both flavor and texture, its an excellent addition to any order. The Chettinad has seriously changed my life and I plan on ordering it over and over again. I dunked the naan in it and the combination was perfect. This curry is definitely my new go-to. I can't wait to order it again! read more

My only experience at Dancing Ganesha was truly awful. We arrived at 135pm or so and since lunch runs until 230pm we figured we had 50 minutes to enjoy the buffet. Unfortunately we were advised by the hostess that we had arrived just in time to be the last to enjoy the buffet. I thought this a bit odd but figured what the hey. What we found was disappointing. The food that was there was good, but most of the dishes were gone or had only sauce remaining. We had to ask twice to get waters delivered to the table. There was a general sense of inhospitality and curtness permeating the employees. We had to ask for additional plates after we used the only two remaining. We then were advised by an employee that they'd be closing down the buffet and we had to get whatever we wanted before it was done. Mind you, this is probably around 2pm. What? Why can't you leave the buffet out until people are done with it? The place was pretty much empty. It's not like there was a line of folks dying to be seated. We then were warned by the hostess/server that they were closing down the buffet. Yes, we were just advised that we're running out of time. Would you like to kick me in the arse on my way out, too? So then they start ripping the buffet down and a young woman comes in to eat. I'm not sure if she was there for the buffet or not, but the place was empty besides my girlfriend and I. One of the employees, seemingly reluctantly, seated her. Well a few minutes later she got up and left, presumably because of the rude service. Two more people came in as we were finishing up. They were seated but it looked like the employees didn't want them there. Dancing Ganesha's food is OK, but nothing special. When you add to it a bunch of employees that seem to want you not to be there, it's a pretty degrading experience. They gave me absolutely no reason to return. read more

I love Indian food, and this place is severely lacking. Maybe they're still working the kinks out, but I'm not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and try it again. They had a hard time serving our table, and gave me the same level of hotness as my boyfriend - even though I ordered mine medium to his hot. I usually love spicy food but it was actually intolerable and inedible for me, and I left hungry and angry - because I was fully expecting to fulfill my weekly Indian food fix. The naan ordering is unclear, and we couldn't figure out whose was whose, or how much to order. Our server was nice enough, but clearly a little incompetent. Again, maybe still working out the kinks, but it simply just wasn't up to par with the other great Indian places in Minneapolis. Sometimes things just smell better than they taste. (If I had a dollar for every time I've...oh, sorry...distracted...) So here's the thing...Dancing Ganesha is solid. The menu offers both diehard Indian cuisine fans and those who just "came for the buffet" something to cheer about. Unlike some local Indian joints, it's not a menu chock-full of 17 different curries. (We get it. Spices come in different colors.) That said, I don't get the impression that they're trying to win any "Best Naan in the Twin Cities" awards anytime soon. But anyone who researches the meaning behind the name should understand...they're not underwhelming. They're overcompensating. In line with the symbol of the Almighty Remover of Obstacles, they wrap themselves in the mediocrity of "just fine" foods, avoiding the temptation of overpromising (and the subsequent disappointment that frequently follows). They maintain a kind, yet cavalier wait staff who can't be bothered with the formalities of monitoring empty glasses or visiting each table periodically. Nay...they say be damned with the confines of expectation! Simply let them eat paneer. They even give you definitions of common Indian cuisine terms IN the menu so as not to allow for misunderstanding. I went to Dancing Ganesha for the first time last weekend thanks to a Groupon I recently purchased. Everything about the experience was perfection. This is some of the best Indian food I've had in the Twin Cities - or anywhere for that matter. My favorite items I tried were the gobi manchurian, jalapeno pakora and mint masala dosa. I ADORE dosa, and theirs is cooked to perfection. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. They have a nice beer and cocktail list and the service was very friendly and attentive. I had always been hesitant of Indian food, but Dancing Ganesha has converted me! This place is calm on a Monday night and it being located on the outskirts of downtown makes it easy to find rock star parking right in front. The decor is quiet contemporary and the low/dim and blue lighting makes is relaxing and sexy. Heck, even the Bollywood music and dancing on the flat screen sexifies the place. If you arrive in time for happy hour, order the garlic naan and gobi manchurian (cauliflower). The sauces that come with the naan are new to the taste palate, but the naan in itself is pretty darn appetizing. As for the gobi, don't be fooled! It's not meat, yet it's so delicious that you could potentially become a vegetarian.... That is until you try the chicken korma - chicken chunks in coconut milk and spices. This dish comes highly recommended by the wait staff, who is also very friendly, informative, and impressive. Perhaps it's because it's quieter on a Monday night? Or perhaps it's because they're just that great. Oh, and don't be worried when your food comes out in a small dish. It's unlimited rice, and you'll be surprised to see how much Indian food can magically be produced! First visit to Dancing Ganesha last night to grab a late night bite and some drinks. Arrived at 10pm and asked if the kitchen was open, bartender/waitress said it was. Told us it was happy hour and went behind the bar to a cabinet to get us happy hour menus. We sat at a dining table, and a staff person came by, told us to "move your hands" off of the table, and proceeds to remove the table cloth. ??? The bartender finally returns to take our order. (There are only 3 other people in the bar.) We ask about two items on the food menu and she says "that's fine but it's not happy hour. The owner changes it all of the time." (The menu she gave us clearly states that it's happy hour on Saturdays from 9-11pm). We then asked about the drinks on the happy hour menu, and she says "those aren't happy hour either." (Ok, why did you give us a happy hour menu?!?!) We asked to see the full menu instead and she said she would bring it. Twenty minutes later, two of the appetizers we had asked about show up at the table. We said we didn't order them and the waiter goes to get the waitress. She shows up and says "oh, now you don't want these?". We say that didn't order them, we only asked questions about them (seasoning/level of heat) and for a full menu. She walks away with an attitude, returns 10 minutes later at 10:30 (now 30 minutes in to our visit), puts a menu on the edge of our table and says "here's the menu, but our kitchen is closed". Yet, the happy hour menu shoes food until 11pm. wth! Horrible service with an attitude is not a good look for a restaurant! I will not be returning to this place ever! Once a month, a group of friends and I try out a new restaurant around the twin cities and last month it was Dancing Ganesha. A little hesitant at first becuase none of us had experienced Indian cuisine, we were pleasantly surprised. The waiter was very well versed on the menu, although a little unprepared re: getting us an actual menu to look at. We started off the meal with some garlic naan and it was fabulous! Tonight was our 4th dining experience at Dancing Ganesha, spread out over the time they've been open. They've had a ton of changes of management/ownership during that time, and our experiences ranged all over the map, so I'm giving greatest weight to this latest outing. And tonight was quite nice. We'd previously had issues with spice level, and we were not going to let that happen again. I told the waiter that I wanted tears running from my eyes, and he laughed, but he got it. My lamb chettinad was strong and aromatic; it wasn't excruciatingly hot, but an hour later, I can still feel some tingle on my lips. My husband's lamb neelgiri snuck up on him with the spice, but in a good way. He said it was "nice and easy." He was also drunk from the MONSTER MANHATTANS they served up for him, so take that as you will. It seems service is a big issue with this place, and our service was just fine. Then again, we have a habit of engaging our servers and being fun so that they want to come back to us because we rule, so maybe that helped us out. So what started out as an apprehensive use of a Groupon after some previously iffy dishes kept us away turned into a nice discovery that Dancing Ganesha can indeed throw down. Went on a weekend for the lunch buffet, and all in all it was decent. It's hard to say how each dish was, as most of them weren't labeled. There was definitely a wide variety of things to try - some you don't see too often at these buffets (those little onion-y pancake things - not a fan), some standards (tandoori chicken). They were pumping the Indian techno a little loudly for my noon-on-Saturday taste. Other than that, the overall experience was fine; but I probably won't go back, just because the combo of what it offered and what it cost doesn't give me much reason to. read more

The food here changes the definition of appetizers, was here today for the happy hour that I unfortunately came across online, and I was trapped with it's close proximity to my home. I ordered a Ghobi Manchurian and Chilli Chicken which was something like I never had, the chilli chicken had tomatoes in it with large chunks of Spinach. So, this place catered some food to my wife's school, and she said it was pretty alright, so we figured we'd give it a go. We got there, and it was pretty cool looking. Ultra modern decor, nice looking bar, well set tables, and quite a few people working there. Lots and lots of blue lights, which gave everything a strange color, but it looked cool from the outside. This got kinda weird fast, and made the food look less than great, since there are a lot of reds and greens in Indian food. The service in the beginning was good. We were served water and bread as soon as we sat down, and we had 20 minutes left of happy hour. Specialty cocktails were $10 (wtf, happy hour?), but beer/wine was half off-ish, and they had a few appetizers there for a reasonable price. We just grabbed some garlic naan, chai, and a glass of wine. It arrived pretty quickly, the naan was not quite like we've had before, but was pretty good. We ordered our dinner, chicken korma (spicy) and chicken tikka masala (medium), and away we went. This is where the review gets boring(er?). Both of our dishes were decidedly okay. Not a lot of flavor, not too much spice, the rice was fine. My wife didn't care too much for the masala, the tomato base was bland, but the chicken was done alright. My korma wasn't as spicy as I'd like, but there was also very little flavor. You could taste the coconut milk base, but either the spices they used were old, or there wasn't much of it in there, as it tasted like a well sauced piece of chicken. Not great, not bad, just was. Things got a little slow after that, our server forgot about us a couple of times, but we got out of there within about 20 minutes after we were done eating. We're generally eager to take off after eating, but it was about 20 minutes after being asked before we got boxes/our check. So, there you go. It's not great. It's not bad. It is. read more

After reading the reviews here I was a bit worried about our dinner plans to go to Dancing Ganesha. All in all I give it 3 stars, A-OK, because that is exactly what it is. Not bad, but fine. I liked the atmosphere; it had good energy and the Bollywood videos and music worked for me. Our server was the bartender too. He was really great, making recommendations and was very friendly. He had a lot to do but we weren't in a rush so that was fine. We had a coupon and he was fine with that, too. We started with the Gobi Manchurian, a spicy, sweet batter fried cauliflower that had a kick. It was fine. We also got a vegetarian Dosa which we liked but was thin on the filling. The first 4 inches on each end were empty, but once we unwrapped it and spread it around, it was good. We split the Sagwala Paneer, Navratan Korma and Vegetarian Biriyani. The Sag was the best of the three, though none of them were great. The naan was fine. There is better Indian food in town. However, it was fine for a fun night with friends. read more

My experience with Dancing Ganesha over the past couple years or so has been somewhat varied, but given the last two visits' consistency, I think it's settled in enough to say something worthwhile. The core entrees are structured as pick preparation + pick protein + indicate spice level. This works well. There are other entrees as well not structured in this format, with fixed prep + protein combinations - Rogan Josh is always served with lamb, etc. One good thing to keep in mind is that while one may specify "very spicy" or "Indian spicy" for a dish, all preparations are not equal in potency - Vindaloo kicks a heck of a lot harder than Neelgiri, for example. Notable and differentiating here is the bar. At other Indian restaurants I've been to, the liquor offerings have been something of an after thought. Here, the beer, wine, and cocktails are given the first page of the menu and executed with a fitting level of care and competence. My Manhattans and Old Fashioned held proper ratios and appealing taste, and my wife's martini was quite good at being what it was as well. Previous cocktail menus had trended toward a syrupy, fruity death, but that has been corrected nicely. Service has also been quite prompt and responsive on these past two visits, and the waitstaff was informed, articulate, and pleasant. Still need to get back here at some point for snacks and drinks; it seems their Chicken 65 has somehow become somewhat legendary, from what I have read. read more

Super yummy. We ordered garlic naan, chicken tikka masala and paneer vindaloo. The server warned us that the vindaloo is very hot and the chef does not alter it below a level 4 (out of 1-5 spice level) but we assured her we could handle it. We did, but holy hell it was HOT even for two people who truly love hot and spicy food, so just be cautious if you're sensitive to heat. The night of our visit was one of those bitterly cold, single-digit Minnesota winter nights, perfect for noshing some hot Indian food. Everything was incredibly delicious! The chicken tikka masala was sweeter and not as hot as the paneer vindaloo, providing a nice contrast. The garlic naan was great too, not overly dry or crumbly like some places. The basmati rice that accompanied our dishes was well cooked also. I've heard a lot of people talk about the terrible service here so I was a little apprehensive, but we had no issues whatsoever. Service was polite and prompt; we were in and out in under an hour. Minus one star because I feel like the portion sizes are just a little skimpy (we had no leftovers, boo!) for the price ($14.99 per entree, $2.99 for naan and $9 for a Taj Mahal beer). I am from the capital city of India, New Delhi, that arguably also happens to be the food capital of the world. Delhi is the melting point for the best North Indian Punjabi food. I have been in North America for 4 years now, and have had Indian food at several places (New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Chicago and Vancouver to name a few). I moved to Minneapolis a little over 6 months ago, and have been searching for a place where I can go for authentic North Indian food that I can enjoy, as much as I enjoy Delhi food. My search finally landed me to Dancing Ganesha, that amazingly, is only 0.5 miles from where I live! We dived right into ordering the main course for the evening. Our entrees included butter chicken and spinach paneer (palak paneer). The entrees, as is the norm, were accompanied by rice. We also ordered breads (onion kulcha and roti) and raita (yogurt mix) as accompaniments. The food was simply amazing. The taste was earthen, and the mix of the spices was spot on. We loved every bite of our dinner. In fact, I can easily say that the dinner we had was amongst the finest North Indian Punjabi food we've had in North America (may be only 2nd to Vij's in Vancouver that's world famous). As for the restaurant, the ambiance was excellent. The temperature was a bit cold (although it was a few below zero outside). The service was prompt. Be prepared to shell out a few dollars; the restaurant is pricy. Overall, it was an excellent experience. We'll definitely be coming back for more. read more

Got a deal on Groupon Now - $15 for $30 worth of food and a $5 discount on top of that. Sweet! Or was it? Service was alright, but it should be pretty superb when you're the only table eating dinner and everyone else is sitting in the bar. Ordered my food - lemon rice and added chicken, garlic nan, and a glass of wine. The food came out ridiculously quickly. A huge portion for the price. The nan was hot and a good texture. I thought cilantro was an interesting choice with garlic, but it somehow worked. The rice had plenty of lemon, and a flavorful spice to it. The menu said it came with peanuts, which were largely absent, but there were a lot of soggy cashews present. People with nut allergies, beware - I know plenty of people who can handle some nuts but not others, so this is a big difference. The chicken left something to be desired (tastes re-heated, not cooked fresh) but there was a lot of it, so, good value...? Bafflingly, it was served COLD. The waiter asked how it was, and apologised profusely when I requested it be heated up. I didn't even care if they zapped it in the microwave, I just wanted hot rice. It was served lukewarm a few minutes later, which was acceptable at the time, since I would end up just taking it home and nuking it myself for a later meal. He later explained that the lemon rice is supposed to be served cold, but that was not specified on the menu. Strange! All in all, my experience was just kind of 'meh'. Even with a coupon, it's likely I won't come back. Service was kind of meh, food was definitely meh, and prices without the deal were high for the portion. Since my first visit to Dancing Ganesha in August 2008 I've been back a few times. I'd hoped it would improve over time but I think it has somehow managed to actually decline in quality on a number of fronts. The food is not as interesting or as tasty as it was initially. During my first visit the menu took some risks by offering unusual "fusion" concepts such as rougail d'aubergine (smoked eggplant) and water-chesnut and swiss chard pakoras. I thought DG pulled these off well and I applauded them for breaking out from the standard chickpea-lentil-spinach trifecta that normally dominates North Indian cuisine. Lately though the menu appears to have been dumbed down and these types of dishes are no longer available. Instead I had a chana masala ($10.99) which was, to sum it up in a single word, imprecise. That is, the dish was not prepared properly and what should have been a curry instead was a red sauce with chickpeas. Chana masala, for all its seeming simplicity, is extremely easy to mess up; if you're not careful about proportions and add too much tomato or tomato paste, you'll end up with a glorified pasta sauce. As such, Dancing Ganesha probably should have served me this dish with penne instead of roti and rice (and they only have white rice, by the way). I later had a dal tadka ($10.99) which lacked salt and seasoning and was also imprecise: it had not been cooked long enough, so the dish was watery (like a soup) and the lentils didn't become creamy. I also had an aloo gobi ($10.99) which was acceptable but not worth the price considering the small portion size. All of the entrees come in small portions and don't represent a great value. Vegans should make sure to ask questions about ingredients, as many of the vegetarian dishes contain dairy, though some dishes can be modified. I was shocked to discover, for example, that the masala dosa here is made with cream---never in my life have I ever encountered a masala dosa made with cream (and I've been eating dosas since I was a child as my parents are both South Indian). As such, Dancing Ganesha loses points for not only being imprecise, but also "inaccurate" (that is, "inauthentic") in its ingredients. Lastly, their gobi manchurian appetizer (~$8 for dinner, $5 during happy hour) was actually pretty good: spicy and crunchy. I just wish they had the other Indo-Chinese classic dish, "veg. manchurian" and preferably made in a soy sauce, rather than a tomato-based sauce. The atmosphere at Dancing Ganesha needs some work. They keep the lights way too low and, what lights they do keep on are blue in color, which is not easy on the eyes. Also, the music is too loud and features an all-Bollywood soundtrack that grows old quickly. Lastly, the service is consistently slow (though friendly). During each of the four or five times I've been to DG, whether it's crowded or not, I've waited at least 20 minutes for my food, and one time I waited closer to 40 minutes. Given that this place seems to cater to many downtown office workers you'd think they'd have faster service. On a whole, Dancing Ganesha isn't a great place, though I suppose it's more vegan-friendly that 95% of other downtown restaurants. The food was very hit or miss. Mostly miss. Big clue was the lack of Indian people dining and the large place was nearly half full. Very overpriced for what you get, portion and quality-wise. The major plusses were that most of the food was spicy, in a hot way, not bland like most food in MN, and they didn't seem to use a generic curry base for the things we ordered. I tried the Bombay 'Chat' because of one the reviews and it was not good. Chaat should be more flavorful, have lots of texture. This only tasted very strongly of onions and was mushy. I love raw onions, but I wanted to taste the spices and the other ingredients. It was also $9 for this appetizer. Ridiculous for some potatoes, tomatoes and chickpeas. I asked my husband how they could charge this much and he replied that the owners are probably wondering why their customers continue to be willing to pay that much. We also ordered dosa and a lamb dish. Lamb was okay, but it was $17 for a small portion with five little cubes of lamb. The dosa was somehow dry and the potatoes in it were so bland, it didn't taste like potato. No exaggeration. That was surprising as the sambar and coconut chutney that came with it were actually pretty tasty. They don't clean the tables well. Our neighbors ate like slobs, rice and sauce all over the table, and the waitress wiped the remainder of their food of the table INTO HER HAND with a dry napkin! Then without cleaning the table with a wet cloth or spray, they put two new place settings on it. Gross. Overall, not worth it to go back. It's obvious they don't skimp on the spices, I saw plenty of curry leaves, mustard seed and such, but I feel like they don't know how to use them properly either. We have eaten here once before and found the food to be OK. This time we had a Crowd-cut coupon ($15 for $30 worth). Each of our entrees were $17.99. and just about enough food for one person. The naan was extra. We felt the food was just so-so and quantities average for the higher prices they charge. The lack of attention to detail was what left us feeling Meh about this place! I went to the ladie's room before the meal and discovered the toilet seat so loose it was about to slide off. I mentioned this discreetly to a staff member and she said, "Oh yeah... it's been like that for awhile now." Not, "I'll ask the manager to see to it right away." We were also seated at the wobbley table near the window. We mentioned it to our server, but this too was something that didn't seem to matter to them. It is not pleasant trying to eat and enjoy a meal while the table rocks back and forth. Our waitress was only at the table 3 times. Once to take our order. (The food was brought by someone else) Once to ask if there was anything else, and once to bring us our final check. While she was very nice and pretty, she was not attentive to us as customers and another service person served, cleared and kept our glasses filled. He was definitely deserving of our tip. All in all, Dancing Ganesha is not a restaurant we would choose to visit again anytime soon. For our money, Bukhara Indian Bistro in Wayzata has this place beat by far, and has much better food, prices and service. read more

We went there on a Tuesday, it wasnt too crowded. We waited for 45 mins then had to literally call someone to get the menu and again waited for a while before someone realised they need to take the order. When finally they arrived with the food they had forgotten the appitizers BUMMER Food wasnt that great else it would have justified the loooong wait. read more

I always pass this place on my way home from work, and the aroma wafting from DG drives me absolutely bonkers in a good way. However, I was still kinda hesitant to try it for dinner coz the entrees are pretty pricey. The lunch buffet is pretty good for the money, though ($9.99). The day I went they had pakoras, which were fine, but they don't do a great job keeping it crispy. They also had good naan. I'm not sure what the other dishes were called, but they had a decent, mildly spiced goat curry. Compared to their representative menu on their website, though, the buffet spread that that day was not as impressive...I would probably give the buffet another try, but I'd probably call ahead first and ask their selection. I've been here twice, both for HH :-) I really like the fact that this place has lots of room, it's off the usual path of commuters and it's not packed with people like most places for HH. They have food and beer/wine for HH. Not cheap beer, but micro brews and non-main stream. The food is definitely where it's at with many items between $3 and $5!!! Breads, desserts and main dishes for HH prices. I'll have to stop by for lunch sometime and try out the cuisine on the regular menu. They have quick service, good prices and a decent location.
