Kadai Indian Kitchen is a perfect spot for lunch in Downtown Minneapolis! It is located in the Northstar Center on the skyway level. You can connect to Northstar Center via the Wells Fargo Center, Canadian Pacific Plaza, Capella Tower, or the Baker Building. For lunch, they have two great package options: the Quick Lunch (any 4 items) or the Full Lunch (6 items). Unless you are completely ravenous, the Quick Lunch is a great portion size with plenty of food. You order at the counter cafeteria style, and my favorite combo to-date is the Coconut Rice, Butter Chicken, Chana Masala (chickpeas), and Butter Naan. 15/10! Each item is packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The service is great-- cheerful and friendly folks. It's a sizeable space with seating and is a great spot for a quiet solo lunch or to meet up with coworkers/friends for a casual meal. I will definitely be returning soon to try some of their other menu items!

Not open at 10:40 am. Very disappointing.

Best deal in the Skywalk when they are open. Good South Indian food dished up cafeteria style. The problem with the Skywalk is there are no public restrooms, so if you're staying at the Sonesta and you're on diuretics for hypertension and drink coffee like me, you can't make it farther than here and be able to make it back to the hotel. The spice level is set for Gora tastes, pretty mild. Still, better than any other place to eat within striking distance of the Sonesta and very reasonably priced. The one problem is they don't open on time, and they sometimes close early. Very frustrating when trying to find a meal before a conference day starts, and I was so looking forward to a Deccan (Southern India) breakfast.

    Aloo gobi - 5 stars!

Had a great experience here from the second I called the restaurant lost and looking for help to find the entrance. For those not from here, you need to enter through the Skywalk - apparently they close the street entrance to the building by 7pm. No worries, I called and within moments a very kind gentleman came to find me and guide me up to Kadai which was right off the elevator. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, even though I got there only about 30 mins before closing. I was desperate to find some home cooked food after a long flight and they really delivered. The aloo gobi was just like my mom makes it - delicate but well spiced, not oily at all, cauliflower and potatoes cooked to perfection, not mushy but still soft and comforting. I inhaled this with rice while I waited for my masala dosa. When that arrived a few mins later I realized that I might have been overly ambitious, but nevertheless I persevered...and ate the whole thing. The dosa was crispy (and huge) - with the potato filling on the side to ensure it didn't get soggy. I absolutely loved the sambar that came with it - it had a great, thicker than usual texture and was not heavy on mustard seed which I usually don't like. A surprise showstopper. Chutneys were excellent too, especially the coconut one. Did I mention how sweet the owners were? Made me feel right at home and encouraged me to take my time eating even though it was near closing. Thank you - will come back for the lunch buffet!

Great food served buffet style. Veg or meat options as well as spicy and mild options. Really good food no matter what you choose. The staff is super nice and the atmosphere is relaxed for downtown. This is my go to lunch spot with friends. No restrooms but they take cash and credit. Easy access from the skyway. I will be back!

Hands down my favorite Indian Restaurant in the Twin Cities. I am in LOVE with Kadai, it has been my thing ever since Yelp Community Event had an Indian restaurant visit. I have been on a long Indian food fix and that's how I found Kadai. Originally I was looking for a restaurant via doordash that had both Chicken Korma and butter chicken. Kadai had both! If you are looking to eat here for lunch, note the line is intimidating as it is long but it goes quick as you pick down a long lunch line. Finding a spot can be tricky and if you do not want to risk it or you know you do not finish your food. I recommend getting it to go for a bit more. So they have different types of rice and biriyani options, then four veggies curries, 3-4 meat curries, and lastly some naans/other sides. Food taste so great and so flavorful. Especially the butter chicken. So it is a great options in the skyways. I recommend trying and checking it out.

Andhra style chicken curry : I put it in plate to taste small portion. However the food box is enough for 2

I used to eat here when I was working out of Minneapolis but I did not like the food then. The lunch buffet is little bland for my taste however my Indian and American colleagues loved the buffet. So if you prefer spice level mild go for the lunch buffet. I ordered following dishes from the restaurant: Andhra style chicken curry : I never had Andhra style curry ever in my life but decided to try since chicken comes bone in which is my favorite part. This was delicious. The gravy and spices were perfectly cooked with meat. I loved it! Dish rate - 4.5/5 Special chicken biryani: since word special made me order this one but I was little disappointed. Chicken used in this dish was fried I believe. Also dish is bland for my taste though I asked to make it spicy. Rating 3/5 Sad thing is this is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Do try buffet and see for yourselves. I will update if I have any other dishes from this joint!

A savory curry packed buffet to go. My new go-to destination for winter comfort food at lunch. @yelpmsp

The Kadai Indian Kitchen is my favorite find in the Skyway. It's an "Indian Buffet to Go" restaurant that has become my go-to restaurant for comfort food during cold weather. Warm, stew-like curries, and a full range of rice, meat and veggie dishes. In traditional buffet fashion, you can select everything you want from among the 20+ options in the Kadai buffet line. As you do so, servers will assemble your plate. The portions are as generous and numerous as you like. During my recent visit, my picks included three curries, a rice dish, a potato dish, some breaded vegetables and spicy chicken. They also included a small stack of naan (flat bread) and offered dessert (which I refused). The result was a hefty plate of tasty, stewy, goodness. A plate from Kadai provides mosaic of flavors and texture for around $10 (a bit lower if you only choose vegetarian options, a bit more if you explore their meaty offerings.) If you love the flavors of india, like I do -- but aren't confident in ordering from a typical menu (like me) -- Kadai is a great place to explore indian cuisine. They're open for breakfast and on weekends (saturday) too!

Restaurant is clean, service is great, plenty of parking since it's in a strip mall. I think they do a lot of take out orders. We went for lunch and ordered a dish (chicken tikka masala) from the $15 lunch special. They also have lunch specials of 2 curry or 3 curry options. But our favorite of lamb vindaloo wasn't a lunch option so we ordered that separately along with tandoori chicken. The tandoori chicken came with a chutney rack (dipping sauces) and the vindaloo came with a side of naan. Normally naan is ordered separately and doesn't come free with dishes, only certain ones. Everything was delicious. The tandoori chicken came sizzling hot and was tender and juicy. Both curries (ordered at medium spice) were so flavorful! Good amount of protein in each. We also ordered the pickle accompaniment and that was a miss for us. It's not our taste. Highly recommend this place .

As a vegetarian, I was in heaven at the number of items that I could choose from. Thankfully, my companions were all willing to split dishes, so I could try more than one. We started out with the lentil green onion pancakes. They were don't earth than I had expected. I thought they would be more of a super crispy flat dish, but they have the substance of a real pancake, with savory flavors. Really wonderful. We ordered three entrées, including the jackfruit and the eggplant. The jackfruit was my absolute favorite, but that was not universal. I think it was very well well prepared, but not everyone likes jackfruit and not everyone loves those spices. But it made me so happy. The eggplant dish was pretty good, but the potato two eggplant ratio could be improved. A few too many potatoes and not enough eggplant. Otherwise excellent. The service was fine. The owner did come over and say hello to us afterwards and he was delightful. Another excellent immigrant owned business to support in Minneapolis.

The dahi puri was cool and brightly flavored and crunchy and creamy, perfect starter on a hot day. The only thing I would maybe pass on is the tandoori chicken - while it came out sizzling with a great char, it had some strange flavors, almost like they mixed in chili Gobi or something with it? Not bad, just not what was expected, especially since everything else really hit it out of the park. I ordered what I believed was a vegetable platter appetizer, but when it arrived it turned out to be fried fritter-style items instead. Since I wasn't familiar with some of the menu terminology, I asked my server if there was an actual vegetable platter with a variety of fresh vegetables. He pointed to another item on the menu, so I asked what it was. Rather than explaining it, he mumbled something I couldn't understand and literally walked away while I was still trying to ask questions. As someone who isn't familiar with every Indian dish, I was simply trying to understand what I was ordering in terms I could recognize. The food may be good, but the service completely overshadowed the experience. I left feeling dismissed and unwelcome. Given the restaurant's reputation, I was genuinely surprised by how poor the customer service was during my visit.
