When you walk in, there is a reception area with benches and cubbies, with new bathrooms (including showers). From there you head into the main workout space, which includes about 30 heavy Smart bags, a full workout area with weights and treadmills, and a boxing ring. I took a 60-minute class and it was both great and challenging. The format included about an 8-minute warmup, ten boxing rounds, and finished with abs and stretching. The instructor was excellent, high energy, motivating, and consistently encouraging proper form. I look forward to going back. Highly recommend if you are looking for a tough, fun, and well-structured boxing workout.

I believe learning how to box is an art and most of the principles of learning how to box coincide with life principles. I have seen my son thrive and progressively change. Learning how to box is difficult!  Finding a good coach is also hard but I believe we have found our coach, coach Nabeel. I see how coach Nabeel engages with my son and gets into his head, only some can coach children and he is one of the best. Coach Nabeel makes him stronger and makes him believe in himself. Coach Nabeel is doing a great job!! My son is learning discipline.He looks around at all the other individuals in the gym that work hard, and he feeds off their energy. The EQBC experience happens to be the furthest thing from that,from the coaches to a fighters this gym is built on an environment that is cultivated around teamwork and personal development. From the most experienced fighter to the least experienced all members have a level of respect for others and the sport of boxing that make this gym truly special. Chris is a long term member of New York City's fight world and was a pioneer in the Muay Thai scene. Along with being a tough as nails fighter he is also an inspirational leader and has given a multitude of talks in the area including local schools. He recently penned a great biography Champions Uprising which recounts his struggles as a young kid from a broken home to a champion fighter. Sarah has been in the ring herself and adds a nice wholesome feel to the gym. She knows her stuff. The gym itself is large and spacious. It has a very large fitness, weights, and kettlebell area which is perfect for functional training. There is a good sized ring in the back which is perfect for the Muay Thai program (run by the experienced Chris). There is also a great jiu jitsu program and a strong kids class. The location is the Romulo's second. The first gym was devastated by Hurricane Sandy but the Romulo's have heart and were able to come back from the natural disaster to build a great inclusive gym for everyone. Great location, superior facility (with showers!) and amazing people make this a go to in Rockaway beach.
