I booked an appoint for Noon online. I called in to request the lady that cut my hair last time however they appear to never answer. They did text me though asking when I would like to book to be fair to them and I said tomorrow with the same lady from last time but no response. Anyway, I sat there patiently until 12:17 PM for my Noon appt and then the gentlemen said to me sorry for the wait will be with you shortly (that was around 12:10 PM). He was totally normal and fine. I said no worries just waiting for lady who cut my hair last time. So the gentleman then said "we are ready for you (paraphrase)" and I said just waiting for the lady who cut my hair last time ... and then she says "ohhhh, you don't get to chooose" and then followed by "you'll be fine" .. in the most condescending tone. When I was last there she did a great job on my hair and told me all about how they take pictures and remember your hair type and how it was cut last time. She couldn't remember me it appeared and also was just so unbelievably rude. There was no-one in there waiting and I had an appointment she could have just said "sorry I'm not working longer today or whatever" but the "ohhh you don't get to chooose". I am a paying customer but I don't get to choose. I just said "Have a nice day, I won't be back" and I won't be. What a shame. It's funny one bad interaction when someone is unnecessarily rude can just ruin your experience and day! I wish the business the best however this was my experience and wanted to take the time on a Sunday to provide a review. read more

Awesome hair salon for all! I'm here every 2-3 weeks for a clean fade and trim, and I've never had any issues in the past year. Had my first cut at Danckuts - fantastic. For my first time, I described my preferred style and they nailed it - probably better than my usual stylist. Great communication throughout by the stylist to make sure everything was dialed in. Haven't had a chance yet to return to see how seamless the tech/photos make the next cut, but others seem to think it works well. I expect it does, the software/notes were pretty detailed. I came into the shop with long hair down to my back and told the barber to cut my hair into an undercut or high taper fade. I provided her seven different photos to work with and told her I want to be able to comb it over. I also told her that I am open to suggestions, to ensure that the cut works. I told her if it does not work for me, then she can suggest a cut that will. She confidently told me she could cut me an undercut or high taper fade. She proceeded to skin fade my hair line so so high that it did not fit the hair length and the hair did not lay properly on the back of my head. I asked her multiple times during the cut if she wanted to look at photos. She never asserted herself one time to discuss and direct the cut. I ended having such a horrible cut that I had to get my hair "fixed" at the Irvine location. It is very upsetting when you are looking to cut off your hair to a style that requires longer hair and the haircut looks bad. I want to thank Gauge for fixing my hair, but I will never come back. If you are a barber, just tell me my idea sucks and we go a different direction. Don't put the customer in a position to direct a cut that you either can't cut or don't think will work. Finally a barber I feel comfortable taking my son to. I'm usually the one who takes my son to the barber since my husband is usually busy during the day, I find the atmosphere in most shops to be a tad bit uncomfortable for me since I'm usually one of the only women. The minute we stepped into Danckuts we immediately knew we found the right place. My daughter works nearby and we were excited to see there was a barber on the same little street. My son has curly textured hair since he's mixed and we find that not everyone works great with the style of hair he likes. He got exactly the haircut he wanted and now he's walking around on cloud 9 because he loves his new cut.
