When you come to visit Monterey and you forget something or want to get some drinks etc. visit Daneys the owner is really nice. He had no idea when we were grabbing fireball and soda that it was the day I lost my only child date. His kindness was noticed as most interactions inside of a liquor store or just really quick. I went in to buy a drink for my food did not find any and went to pick up my doordash order at La Bahia not even 20 seconds walk away. Came back immediately did not even take 2 minutes max and the owner was waiting outside and started cussing me out telling me i was fake shopping to park there. Just because i did not find my drink did not mean i was fake shopping. He has no customers and nothing better to do that he cusses a customer out for taking a spot when i was not there for no longer than a minute. Terrible service never coming here again. read more

Danny is an awesome family run business. if you see a bad review here it's because he has a small parking land people get pissed off when they park in it and go to the beach or go next-door to eat dinner and get told to move. Several reviews back that's exactly what the negative reviewer did. You can always count on courteous friendly help and good selection across the board. read more

This place is wonderful. They have one of the best curated liquor selections anywhere. And if you are buying good liquor, you will want to enjoy a good mixer with it. That is sometimes a hard combination to find. For example, I'm not mixing my Hendrick's Gin with Canada Dry (although the have that too) but with one of five flavors of Fever Tree premium tonic. Staying the weekend in Monterrey, I wanted to get a couple of bottles of wine for our hotel stay. Doing the Yelp thing, this came up near us so I went. The store was a bit old, jaded and I had to walk around a few homeless people to get there. After feeling uncomfortable about being in the right part of town, the selection made me think I should have tried something else. Scoring a couple of bottles of wine for the walk back I was then asked if I wanted to buy a bag for the bottles. Not wanting to walk past the homeless with alcohol (sorry, I wasn't in the mood to be asked to share) I forked over the money to buy a bag to put my alcohol in. Never been asked to pay for a bag at an alcohol store before. Should have brought my own. Later, going across the street for CVS, I discovered that the BEST selection of wine I've seen is in a drug store. Who'd have thought? read more

So my husband and I dropped by here every morning when we visited Monterey. Reason? Donuts. I kid you not. This mini mart was on the way from the seashore to our rental and my husband had heard things about these Red's Donuts. And they get fresh ones every morning, so of course we had to drop by. The owner is SUPER nice and offered to help us with restaurant recs and such, and the donuts were delicious according to my husband. Nice people. read more

This store is like a hidden concierge off Cannery Row. The owner, Pat, knows the best ways to see Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, etc. The alcohol selection is solid and Pat is very knowledgeable about wines and can help you out if you need something for a dinner party in a pinch. read more

Please do not waste your time or your money here especially since there is better selection and prices elsewhere and nearby. Surprised that CVS had better selection than they did. For such a small place it has a good selection of beer and wine. Also, great candies and snacks. It is well lit and the isles are spaced far enough apart so 2 people can actually be in them at the same time. Very friendly staff. The place even smells nice, so it's great across the board. If you live within walking distance, it will quickly become your go to! read more
