We came across the bakery randomly after lunch and woww!! I wish this was closer to where I live but any time I am in Monterey again, this is going to be a definite stop for me. Got tart, cherry pistachios, chocolate cake, and not picture is the pain aux raisin. I tend to prefer dark chocolate heavily and surprisingly the best two dessert for me were the tart and cherry pistachios. Still dreaming about them. Got there late in the afternoon so they only had few pastries left.
This is a cute hidden pastry shop at the top of the hill in Old Monterey that you must try. The bakery is small, within an old timey facade with fresh baked goods for you to indulge in on your relaxing morning. I love a good almond croissant and they did not disappoint here. There were actually a number of pastries I wanted so I will have to return and try some more later on. The service was attentive and polite. The staff work in a cramped area behind the counter, albeit decorated, since the building itself is the same size as the State Park exhibited buildings from the past. I felt this appearance was very charming to match its bakery vibes. :) I would not pass this establishment by without giving this a try. So if you're visiting-- I'd recommend you check this out :)
Parker Lusseau Pastries is an absolute hidden gem! The ham and cheese croissant (warmed up) is the best one I've had! Also love their macarons, apple galette, and croissant- whether it's butter, chocolate, and almond, you can never go wrong! Great service is always happily provided by the staff. Cozy little patisserie alongside the postal service. They have outdoors tables and chairs and street parking.
Amazing! Best ham and cheese croissant I've had in the states and they will heat it up for you. I had to share it and wish I'd got my own. I had my own almond croissant which was very messy, a little heavy on the filling, wasn't as flaky as the ham and cheese. My husband got the chocolate croissant which is actually a pain au chocolate but when I referred to it that way they surprisingly didn't know what item I was referring too. He said it was good but needed more filling! They had quiche too which they heated up too, I bet that was good. Would definitely recommend.
Great stop for breakfast. Delicious pastries. On average they are $5-8 each. Rich hot chocolate. My favorite is the almond croissant. Chocolate croissant could have used more chocolate. Chai was on the sweeter side. Seating located on porch and the side of the cafe. Most patrons appeared to taking their treats to go. Ample street parking.
Great bakery! The line was pretty long and I had to wait maybe 5 ish minutes for the quiche to heat up but it's worth it!
BEST COFFEE EVAA! Their coffee and cookies are so good- trust me yall they have these small cookie and my favorite is the chocolate chip with pecan or the cacao nibs which is the picture I added! Their customer service is excellent, there's a tall guy with wavy dark/brunette hair who's always talkative and nice with people! Check this place out!
Stopped on our way out of town and wow. The almond croissant and latte was amazing. Try if your in the area, so many great options to choose from.
We got the almond croissant, strawberry rhubarb pastry, and cinnamon raisin bun. The almond croissant was our favorite but all 3 were delicious! The strawberry rhubarb was more tart than expected, but very tasty!
3.5 stars overall. I thought the kouign amann was kind of doughy? Caramelized pieces were falling off it as well. 3.5 stars. I was expecting more based on the reviews. Though they said they're famous for their almond croissant and we didn't try that. Had their ham and cheese croissant, it was fine. 3.5 stars. The tomato goat cheese quiche was really good though. Flaky and buttery crust. Smooth eggy center. 4 stars for this one.
Must come here for the best pastries, baked goods, sandwiches, coffees, teas, chocolate truffles & macarons! Everything is hand-crafted to perfection. Located in the historic Adobe Fremont house, this bakery has seating on the front patio and side patio. We enjoyed the seasonal pear pastry and the bichon which is a flaky pastry filled with lemon crème. So good and just the right amount of sweetness so you can still taste the fruit. We had food brewed coffee and English breakfast tea (they use Art of Tea brand which is good). Aster eating, we then got chocolate truffles and Macarons. Will return!
Primo pastry! Light, flaky, buttery! The apple galette was outstanding - so thin, beautifully balanced flavors, never too sweet. Financier was bright, tart and so soft. Kougin sold out by 1030am on a Monday! We got one, thankfully, along with a fruit danish. Some kind of baked raspberry tart with wonderfully light pastry... We didn't try the almond croissant, which is apparently the popular favorite. There are no wrong choices here. They're not kidding when they tell you everything is great. What a treasure of a shop. We also partook of their quiches for breakfast one day. They heated them for us so we could enjoy them on their lovely patio. We had one of each of their four flavors - goat cheese & tomato, spinach, mushroom & leek, and Lorraine. These are round individual sized quiches with a nice crust. The Lorraine was particularly nice. I would recommend them all, if you're into the ingredients. We also had mochas, which were more chocolatey than sugary. A decent level of sweetness for me, a person who usually asked for things half sweet. The flavor was intense, so if chocolate is your thing, esp dark, get this! I had them add about an inch more steamed milk to my 16oz (which they were happy to do) and then it was perfect for me. The patio area is peaceful, the staff were all very kind, informative and accommodating. I'm glad we don't live around here or we'd be here alllllll the time Definitely stop in! Everything was worth the price, the calories, and then some!

It's a small shop, and since I wasn't sure yet if I wanted a pastry, I ordered a coffee first while my husband looked at the case. One of the women behind the counter told me, "Usually you order pastries first and then we get the coffee at the end." The way it was said immediately made me feel uncomfortable, like I was somehow doing something wrong. I apologized and explained we weren't from here and I wasn't even sure yet if I wanted anything else. Their tone changed after that and became much friendlier, which honestly made the interaction feel even more awkward. My husband ended up ordering pastries, including a chocolate croissant for me, and both the latte and croissant were good. Sometimes the experience matters just as much as the food. It's hard to fully enjoy a place when your first impression made you feel unwelcome. I truly wanted to love this spot because it came so highly recommended as she visited it daily, but I left feeling more embarrassed than excited to return.

My mom said that this bakery has the best almond croissants in Monterey. Sadly when we went there around 1pm in the afternoon, they were all sold out of almond croissants. I got a strawberry and rhubarb pastry that was good. They do have some nice outside seating, and I saw folks who looked to be enjoying the weather. They had a lot of staff people working the counter despite it being a small shop, so we were served very quickly. Probably if I had gotten this fabled almond croissant, it would have been five stars! I will have to return earlier in the day. read more

The bakery is small, within an old timey facade with fresh baked goods for you to indulge in on your relaxing morning. I love a good almond croissant and they did not disappoint here. There were actually a number of pastries I wanted so I will have to return and try some more later on. The service was attentive and polite. Probably one of the best French pastries we have had in the area from Sonoma to Big Sur. We tried almost everything displayed. The quiche was really good. Most of the quiches I had in the past was very dense and heavy. This one was surprisingly light so i could not stop having it. One caveat was about the strawberry cake. I was expecting a very fluffy texture of the cream on top and inside and it turned out to be very dense. Not my style but still delicious. We ended up ordering a week's supply of pastries to go. read more

It's a cute bakery, no seating on the inside but there are three small tables right at the front and two on the side with a nice tree over it. The workers were friendly and quick with suggestions when we found out they discontinued the lox croissant. We got the berry tart, the pear croissant, and the mushroom quiche. Berry tart 8.5/10 - it was really good, the bread wasn't too hard, the cream was the perfect amount of sweet, and most importantly the fruits were very fresh and well chosen. Pear croissant 7/10 - was good but nothing crazy Mushroom quiche 7.5/10 - was flavorful and reminded me of a Chinese snack my grandma makes, but it came out warm. I think they should heat it up a bit longer. read more

Another one of our must-stops when we visit Monterey -- an authentic French pastry shop that looked like it was plucked directly from a winding cobbled street in Bordeaux's Old Town. I say Bordeaux because this pâtisserie serves Canelé -- one of Bordeaux's many gifts to gastronomy. From the outside, it looks like a mini bundt cake, with fluted sides and a small dimple on top, the color of dark mahogany like someone left it in the oven too long and now it's burnt. But bite into it and you experience a most comforting crunch -- like biting into caramelized toffee, and inside, you taste a yellow soft, dough -- its texture halfway between egg pudding and a flan. Then comes the almond croissant -- a masterpiece with a flaky golden crust generously smothered with sliced almonds and dusted with powdered sugar. I bit into its buttery interior, and I'm transported back to our trip to Bordeaux -- being shown the sights by (who else?), our friend and culinary GPS, tB. We paired these gems with cups of bracing Americano -- what a great way to start the day! We came in early, so we had a glimpse of Monsieur Lusseau working on the pastries. Came when it was pretty busy, so the shop was crowded. Staff is friendly, and service is quick. What I ordered: lemon tart: 4/5 brownies: 2.5/5 I'll have to come by right when they open next time for a wider variety of pastries and to avoid the crowds. read more

Love this place. Wish they would bring back their everything lox bagel. We always stop where when we go to the Aquarium. Staff and service have been consistently quick and friendly. It's a very small space inside but they do have some seats and table outside. We love their mushroom and spinach quiche. Cant go wrong with a ham and cheese croissant either. The Kouign-amann is delish don't skip that one either. Cant go wrong with any of their goodies. read more

Got the spinach quiche which was so soft and flavorful without being too salty or greasy. The puff pastry was perfect. Also got the morning bun which was also delicious. The ham and cheese croissant was also recommended and was quite hefty. It's a small cute little space, and there's no bathroom just FYI. read more

Came here for breakfast the morning of my birthday after hearing great things from my Airbnb host. Absolutely loved the service. Very welcoming and they were so proud to chat about their offerings. Loved that! I got the berry croissant and it was honestly so delicious! But the plain croissant. As a croissant connoisseur, my mind was blown. I have had croissants just about every where and anywhere, and this was hands down my all time favorite. I have told all my friends about it. Highly recommend! read more

this is my favorite pastry shop to go to when I'm in town. Sometimes on weekends, the line is out the door and the inside is very small and quaint so you need to get there early and need to be quick about what you decide to order they run out of things quickly. I like to get the chocolate croissants. They're always so flaky. Everything here is delicious. Sometimes I get coffee along with my pastries if I don't get it at my favorite coffee place near the plaza. I go to Monterey about 2 to 3 times a year and I always stop at this place. Parking can be a bit challenging at times as well. read more
Tiny bakery with a rustic look. They have cookies, cake slices, quiches, canele and croissants of various flavors. We tried ... 1. Spinach and cheese croissant (5/5) Ask for it heated and it's simply a buttery, flaky, cheesy goodness. The spinach was fresh and contrasted the cheesiness well. 2. Tomato and goat cheese Quiche (5/5) The combination of crumbly goat cheese and tomato pairs very well together. It was decadent and not overwhelmingly rich or heavy. Friendly and quick service. 3. Canele (4/5) Not my forte, but we got this for my partner to try. I have had canale elsewhere and have to say their canale is actually one of the better ones I've had. I like that the inside was doughy covered with an outer hard (crunchy) glazed shell. I can easily tell it's not stale. read more

We wanted something for breakfast and the Yelp reviews looked great so had to stop by. It was a Wednesday morning and there was a decent wait. The inside was adorably decorated and smelled divine. The displays were filled with quiches, sandwiches, croissants, and cakes and each one looked picture perfect. There were so many pastries to choose from that it was almost impossible to decide. I seriously panicked and just picked everything that looked good! We picked the brioche bun, macaron, quiche Lorraine, almond croissant, brownie, and caramelized croissant, There was so much more I wanted to try but my wallet begged me not to. They offered to warm up the quiche and we obviously said yes. There were a couple of seats outside but not many. There was a little bit a wait to warm up the quiche but it was worth it. Every pastry we picked as perfect. The croissants were airy and crispy. The quiche was cheesy and crust was flaky. The brownie was decadent. It was all so perfect I regret not getting more. This place was so perfect and we're so glad we made a stop here! read more
