This is their original milk tea. The boba was on the other side of the cup, lol.
    Donna S.

I am trying to find out what the hype was about, but I didn't find it. I saw it on the Marina Facebook group. Someone was asking which donut is the best in town, and a lot of people said Monterey Donuts. I mean, they're not too bad, but there's nothing special about them. I'd rather go to Marina Bagels and Donuts. Since I am still searching for the best milk tea in Monterey, I tried their original milk tea. It tasted like watered-down milk with a hint of tea, and the boba didn't feel right to me. It seemed like there was still something inside them, like they weren't boiled well. Also, when I paid with my card, the lady wouldn't move and seemed like she was making sure I would give a tip before she made my food.

I love this place the people that worked here. I love supporting small business and they close late too. If you want a sweet treat at night please stop by.

If it was only possible to make the 5 hour trek everyday!!!! Needed something quick for our family of 4, but substantial for my husband. And wow did this place give us both! The bagels & bagel sandwiches were amazing! I don't know that I've ever had a fresher, more delicious plain bagel before. The basic bagel sandwich was also so good. I got my go to from a donut shop- the ale fritter. It took me 2 days to eat this thing. It was HUGE! and perfectly cooked..... crunchy on the outside, super soft on the inside. The service was fast, efficient and friendly.... Even giving our kiddos small stickers on the way out! A good amount of seating inside for those that prefer to sit and eat, we took ours back to the hotel. Would I come back? Most definitely!!!

Cronut was delicious, light and flaky, cost was 2.50. Service was fast and friendly, plenty of parking out front. Both inside and outside seating.

So many choices. The place is so busy, batches of fresh donuts are constantly being placed under this glass case.

Come see Larry & the gang for some of the best donuts in California. If you're lucky like me, you'll be handed a free hot fresh donut! Never thought I'd catch myself saying this, but it blows away K.K. Friendly, hospitable staff & location. I comfortably set up camp for myself to read & study, which they don't seem to mind at all. Enjoy!

Perfect timing for us to visit this place, because we were in the area. I actually saw this place on one of my IG feed of donut place recommendations. I'm glad I saved it! The inside is small hence it is basically grab and go type of place. However, there is a table outside for you to enjoy your delicious treats! The service is excellent! The staff were personable and generous! And of course the donuts were devoured.

This is a cute and very busy donut shop. When you walk in, it's a very open and inviting space. I really tried my best not to order the whole store because they have such a delicious variety of donuts. The lady who took my order and helped me was very nice. I ordered: 1. Bacon croissantwich - I loved the layers of the croissant. It was moist and not too messy. It was a perfect balance of egg and cheese. 2. Chicken apple sausage breakfast burrito - perfect balance of egg and sausage. It was simple, but oh, so satisfying. 3. Cronut - Crunchy exterior but fluffy on the inside. I loved separating each layer. 4. Apple fritter - a classic done right. Crispy on the outside but moist on the inside. 5. Blueberry twist - you can definitely taste the blueberries even if you don't see it. This was a delicious treat. Everything we tried was amazing. I was hoping to come back the next day to try more stuff. Maybe next time.

Everyone was amazing! Decent prices for the doughnuts and burrito, we also got coffee and it was amazing! We will definitely be coming back here

Fresh and warm - INSANELY GOOD!!

Popular place. A bit too sugary for my pallette. Tasted extra sweet. Hubby liked them though.

Went back the next day with my friends and we tried a few more. Lavender donut is not for me but was actually delicious and it's the only time I could say a positive thing about an after taste. It's a sweet glaze with lavender flavor. Our friends got beignets and wouldn't stop talking about how they made the best choice, so I'd say that is a solid choice as well.

Unfortunately, I don't understand the hype at all. I've had fantastic donuts from plenty of places, and these simply aren't in that category. To me, it tasted like a pretty basic donut covered with an excessive amount of sugary toppings and glaze. Instead of tasting fresh, balanced, and flavorful, the sweetness completely overwhelmed everything else. I couldn't even finish mine. It was so overly sweet that I actually felt sick afterward. Maybe this style of donut works for people who love extremely sweet desserts, but it definitely wasn't for me. This feels like another place that became popular because it photographs well and gets pushed heavily on social media rather than because the food is exceptional. If you take away the hype, I just don't see anything particularly special about the donuts. Definitely a one-and-done experience for me. I wouldn't buy another donut here, and there are far better donut shops that I'd spend my money at.

The cake donut was described as a "premium" option, which surprised me because it felt pretty standard. The coconut topping was minimal, just a light sprinkle, and the frosting was unusually heavy and thick. It didn't taste like a typical glaze or bakery frosting--instead it reminded me of the dense, processed frosting you'd find on packaged snack cakes. I ended up peeling most of it off and wouldn't order it again. The sugar donut itself also didn't stand out. It had an odd aftertaste that reminded me slightly of cinnamon, though I'm not sure if that was from the oil or the dough. Overall it didn't taste very fresh, and I didn't enjoy it enough to finish. Overall, the pricing is reasonable for the area, but the quality didn't match expectations. I actually ended up throwing the sugar one away and eating the cake donut after peeling off the frosting. The shop itself feels more like a small diner counter than a dedicated donut shop, with a few donut options alongside a basic counter setup. I wouldn't return based on this visit.

Service was quick, and they had a nice variety of cinnamon roll flavors to choose from. We decided to keep it simple and ordered the classic cinnamon roll. They warmed it up in the microwave before serving, which made it nice and soft. While it definitely satisfied our sweet tooth, we were a little underwhelmed overall. The roll was smaller than we expected for the price, and it didn't quite compare to the soft, gooey, over-the-top quality of a Cinnabon. If you're craving something sweet while exploring Cannery Row, it's a convenient stop with plenty of options. Just don't go in expecting a giant, bakery-style cinnamon roll.

From the year 2086. $11 for a plain cinnamon roll the size of a Pillsbury refrigerated tube roll is diabolical. A family of 4 getting dessert here might as well just do that second mortgage now. Let alone the $7.25 for an 8oz Red Bull for that mom on vacation just trying to get by. The flavor? Not worth $11 I can assure you. Truly feels like a tourist trap masquerading as an old timey local haunt. If you're thinking to yourself "I REALLY just need a cinnamon roll...I'm hankering for that sweet, sweet, gooey, sticky cinnamonny treat!" This ain't gonna cure that hankerin', chief. It was both miraculously dry AND wet somehow. Like some kind of kinetic sand. Not to mention, the cinnamon level sat at about a 3 out of 10. But, to be fair, the term "slightly seasoned roll" doesn't really have a nice ring to it. Save your money. Bake them from a grocery store tube. You can get a dozen for the same price to be honest. Plus, you won't have to heat it up in the microwave like they do here (when the oven is right next to it). I'm convinced these 5 star reviews are bots, family friends or Lilly Mae's was the first cinnamon roll these poor people have ever had. Someone in the suspicious 5-star section mentioned California being "more expensive". I get that, I'd have no issue paying $11+ dollars for a small cinnamon roll if it was an ACTUAL quality product and not something thrown together and slapped into an oven for a quick buck to make seaside rent.
