Wow, I could not be more pleased and excited after working with Danie for our daughter's newborn photos! We had such a great experience with Danie! This was our second time working with her for newborn photography, as she also did the shoot for our firstborn. She is wonderful with kids...so patient and loving and great at getting babies to stop fussing. We felt completely comfortable with her. We also have a 2 year old who is anything but mellow, and Danie was able to wrangle her and managed to get some beautiful pictures of the 4 of us, despite the uncooperative toddler! I LOVE HER!! I was looking for newborn photographers and I found Danie on yelp. After talking to a few photographers I decided to go with Danie for the following reasons: 1) all the positive reviews; 2) her responsiveness; 3) the fact that she can come to my house to do the shots. The last factor was a big plus for me as I was reluctant to take my baby out of the house to go to the studio when she's only a week old plus it's way more convenient for my family to be there and take pictures with her. I originally contacted Danie when I was looking for a maternity photographer, and I'm so glad I did! She was warm and friendly and super-responsive from the moment I contacted her, and immediately put me at ease. I asked her a bunch of questions in the process of booking her, and she was pleasant and patient in all her responses. After talking to her via e-mail, I felt comfortable enough to also book her for our newborn shoot as well. We met with her in person before the maternity shoot, and the meeting reinforced what I already thought about her: she was warm, easy to talk to, helpful with my questions about wardrobe and final location, and you could tell she genuinely loves being a photographer. The maternity shoot itself was laid back and really fun. Both her and her assistant were great to work with, and I never felt too "posed". After the shoot, she sent us a few sneak peak photos within a week and a half, with the rest of the photos ready a week later. There were so many good photos that I had a hard time choosing just a few to share with family and friends. For the newborn shoot, Danie was equally great. She brought multiple boxes of the cutest props and costumes, a space heater to keep our baby comfortable, a shusher to help keep our baby calm (ask her about it!), and a supportive attitude. I really appreciated that she took the time to ask me how I was doing, and told me I was doing a great job. Being a first time mom who was only a few days postpartum, her words of encouragement were very much appreciated. The shoot itself was also great. She clearly has tons of experience with handling newborns, and it shone through in the photos. She again sent us sneak peak photos quickly and the full gallery shortly thereafter. My wife and I were lucky enough to find Danie by google searching photographers in our area with newborn experience. As first time parents, we did not want just anyone handling our little boy - so it was important to us that we found someone with an enormous amount of experience and one who handles babies with a delicate tough. Well, that's exactly what you'll get with Danie. Both my wife and I watched in awe as Danie helped to calm our little darling before his photoshoot. Let me assure you, she has a gift with babies. No one is as good as Danie at keeping a baby calm, which really helps create the right atmosphere for a successful photoshoot. Here's what you can expect from working with Danie. If she visits you at your home, expect her to arrive with suitcases full of props. She's not planning to move in, she just wants your baby to have tons of cute items for pictures. She has a two foot bed - complete with bedding, various comfy rugs, wraps, hats and other fun surprises. Fearful of dirt, fear not - she washes each item by hand prior to every photoshoot, so expect all of her goodies to be in pristine condition for your little one. If you're lucky, she might even leave one of the wraps behind for you. We loved swaddling our baby in her wrap and still do to this day. Danie is an effective communicator. She's easy to coordinate with and she shows up on time - if not a few minutes early. She is the least invasive person we've had in our home. It's almost like having a family member or close friend hangout and take pictures of your baby. Great conversation, tons of love for your baby and plenty of smiles and laughter is what you should expect when you book a session with Danie. As far as her photography skills. She KNOCKS IT OUT OF THE PARK!!! Our birth announcements were a huge hit and every recipient sent an email, text or called to say how gorgeous the photo itself was. Same result when we sent our thank you cards (which had another Danie photo on the front). When Danie sent the preview, both my wife and I teared up. We were just blown away. She captured special moments that we would not have been able to do with our iPhones/home camera. Danie is a true professional at her craft and we plan to use her again and again.
