We stopped in this COZY coffee shop with our pup on our fall cabin trip. You know when you go to the mountains and you want everything to be cabin-like with fall leaves tumbling in the ground? Cute little local coffee shop that has it all when it comes to your nature needs without having to drive very far to get to a supermarket. We came on a morning before a hike. I ended up getting a couple of bottles of Thrive Kombucha. Both were so tasty and tangy, not overly sweet. A friend went with the egg/cheese bagel and got an iced coffee to fuel the day. The coffee was phenomenal. It had hints of chocolate and was perfect. I believe it came from a roaster in Cincinnati, OH, but they had beans/ground coffee from other local roasters too that you could purchase. The bagel was also tasty, but nothing out-of-this-world. The bagel itself was tasty. They also have a little goodies and gear shop that you can check out while waiting for your drinks/food. It has everything from candles and jewelry, RRG-themed goodies to camping/hiking gear. All were fairly priced and lots of locally produced items too, which is a win-win. Another bonus is that they have gender neutral bathrooms and have signage that shows off how proud they are of it too. This is a cute place to stop by after a long hike. The place was busy and cozy, but it has everything you need. They serve food, drinks, desserts, coffee and have a part of the store with souvenirs or Knick knacks and camping gears. The servers were all very nice, very fast and efficient when making the drinks. I ordered a regular black coffee with a dash of heavy whipping cream. It's just prefect when i got my order. It's pretty much the only place to get coffee in this area but it's also pretty freaking good! We were staying in Slade to go camping and didn't bring anything to make coffee so we came here pretty much every morning to get coffees. One morning I got a pumpkin cream cheese swirl muffin that was absolutely delicious and perfect to fuel up before a fall hike. The coffee shop also doubles as a little general store so they have plenty to browse around while you're waiting in line for coffee, it was pretty busy most mornings that we went. We also tried out their breakfast sandwiches and they did not disappoint. The indoor seating area is cozy, lots of couches and small tables. They have board games and books to enjoy with your coffee. The best seating area is the outdoor porch that has a nice view of the forest. Also they have good wifi as the phone service in this area isn't the best. We stopped to grab some ice cream, specifically milkshakes and a cone. The ice cream cone is the only reason I'm giving two stars, the milkshakes were regrettable at best and super overpriced. A plain chocolates shake was $4.75 and a PB or as they call it, Lewis and Clark shake is just over $5. Two "milkshakes" and a scoop of ice cream on a waffle cone was $15 and some change. Both shakes were really thin, like drinking chocolate milk, with a small top layer that was semi thicker than water. Think that of the consistency of a DQ shake after sitting in the heat for 10 minutes. They were missing dome lids and we'd asked for whipped cream, the cup was already overflowing with the thin shake liquid and then topped with whipped cream, we couldn't put a lid on it so we had to scoop the whipped cream off and pour some liquid off- which spilled on our hand as soon as holding it since it was overfilled. We should have realized then how bad they were and asked for a remake or our money back. They weren't busy when we stopped by and we didn't wait long to get our milk drinks. Heat wasn't even an issue this day, it was 71 degrees and we took them straight to the car (after the few seconds it took to clean up whipped cream cup!) The shop is cute and full of items hikers and travelers might need, which is nice. But since all we got was ice cream and milkshakes, I can only rate on that and they were so terrible we poured them out, I remembered to take a picture before pouring it all out. I hope the coffee and food are better, but at the prices and disappointment with the shakes, we won't be likely to give them another chance. read more

My husband and I were headed down to this area for a photo shoot last week. We needed a place to hang out and work on photos and video before we met with our couple. We found this coffee shop and just committed. We showed up and instantly loved it. It had the touristy vibe outside but once you stepped inside it instantly had that homey vibe to it. Wood everywhere, tons of seating, even and outdoor option but it's all enclosed. We found a table and got to work. We did find out they didn't have WiFi but we didn't need it for what we were doing. This isn't just a coffee shop either. Right inside there's a little gift shop, they have groceries, amazing breakfast options, and more! A great find in the middle of no where!
