Ivan and Ezbin are ROCKSTARS. They did our masterbath recently and we could not be happier. It's the nicest room in the house now. I already had a plan drawn up, but had decided not to use the contractor that did it because his price was ridiculous (and he was condescending). I knew I would like working with Ivan from our first meeting. He is thoughtful, sincere, extremely knowledgeable, and a good communicator. He came in with a fair bid, told me exactly what to purchase, and started as soon as the materials came in (and when the COVID 19 shutdown was lifted for contractors). They came to work every day on time and worked very efficiently. When we had a 2 day lag because of permit inspection scheduling, he apologized and said he would make sure that didn't happen again. He was always respectful and considerate. He had suggestions along the way to improve the look and function of our project. For example, I picked glass tile for the shower inset and he was concerned it would be too slippery to hold the shampoo bottles, so he suggested we use the regular wall tile for the bottom of the inset. Working with Ivan was the best! He completely remodeled two bathrooms for us, including tearing them down to sub-floor, and replacing some rotted out walls and beams. He installed tiles, wood floor, built in tub which he framed, a custom shower, lights, fans, and built a closet with custom shelves. The end result is beautiful. Everything looks great, and fits nicely. Not only did he do all of the work himself, which included plumbing, framing, electrical, tiling and the finish work which included painting, and caulking, but he also designed the layout himself as well. He carefully measured the space, and came up with an idea which he designed himself, and then built to match. He was also on time every day, and was very careful about keeping the rest of the house clean. He used drop tarps, and also put up large plastic walls to keep dust from getting in the rest of the house. when the job was done, he removed everything and left the house spotless! Ivan did an awesome job replacing our front deck, doing extensive repairs to the dry-rotted framing underneath, and handling a couple electrical and tiling tasks. Ivan (and now with his partner Alex) did another big job for us to fix up our newly purchased home which had received scant maintenance in decades. Laundry room gutted and rebuilt including semi-custom cabinets. Extensive partial kitchen remodel including beautiful custom bar counter, tile, semi-custom cabinets, island hood installation and even making an upper cabinet smaller when the new fridge wouldn't fit underneath. He put in more recessed lighting and light switches than I can count, often requiring sliding on his back through a hot attic space smaller than I can even fit in. Walls moved, closets paneled, floors installed, you-name-it painted, garbage houses built. The "garden shed" they built for us is nice enough to rent out. New fence. Bathroom fans. Gates built from scratch. Concrete slab in garage. Stone retaining wall. On and on and on. All of this work was done quickly, done well and with integrity. Ivan and Alex did 90% of the work in 5 months of remodel and repair. During that time we brought in a few specialists ... floor refinish, house painters, window blinds ... but the only people we ever had any complaints about were the specialists. Ivan's work is impeccable. He made sure he understood what we wanted and if anything wan't the way my wife wanted it, he changed it. I started teasing my wife that Ivan was the ideal husband ... no matter what she asked about, the response was always, "Oh, sure, that's easy ...". Working with Ivan and Marinland Builders was an unexpected pleasure. I have worked with many contractors over the years, on various properties with various requirements. My first experience with with Ivan was to replace a leaking water heater in my office building in San Anselmo. Ivan came on a Saturday and got the tenants back in a better mood in no time. So, I asked him about installing a new window in a previously windowless wall on the second floor of the same building. No problem. I'm sure you have heard that before. But, it wasn't a problem, unlike some other contractors who would have wrung their hands and streached out the work. Mind you, I'm a designer, and a bit detail oriented.
