LADIES/INSTAGRAM PEOPLE: My friend was also receiving harassing messages from @DTClothier so I did some investigating. Long story short - I have some evidence suggesting that Mr. Taylor's account has been hacked and none of these messages are from him. I talked to people familiar with Mr. Taylor and his business. He is currently away from the store and isn't super familiar with the inner workings of Instagram. I was very skeptical at first but I now think that this may be a case of a weak password and some savvy hackers. The messages people are receiving from this account are awful and sexist. I've been told that this Instagram account will soon be shut down and disassociated with this store. It seems, from some of the non-Instagram reviews on here, that Mr. Taylor has been running a decent business for a while. ... so my boyfriend and I ran in here after a lunch break to ask some quick questions about getting his (ill-fitting) suits tailored. He's new to this whole suit song and dance and so we just wanted some insight on ideal fit, cost, etc. My idea was to go into some of the more high-dollar clothier's as they would have more quality workers then say, a men's warehouse. When I tell you the guy at the front gave us the WORST stank attitude when we came in. He literally, LITERALLY began walking away as we were talking to him. LITERALLY!!! I mean, come on! He was talking over us and literally cut us off mid-sentence. Maybe we didn't look like we had enough money to be in this area? Maybe we still had garlic on our breath from Mi Cocina? Maybe if I would've dropped our "titles" we would've gotten at least eye-contact? Maybe we should've flashed the BMW key chain? I don't know... All I know is it was shocking... My guy turned to me in disbelief and I took his hand and walked out. read more

I went hear to have a suit jacket altered and was quoted ~ $35. When I went to pick up the item, I was given a bill for $70 and the tailor was not present. I had a similar alteration done next door for ~ $35. read more

I needed a nice shirt for an event and finding my size off the rack is near impossible. They custom fit one for me and it looks great! Not a place I would go for everyday clothes because it is certainly pricey, but if you're looking for a nice piece for your wardrobe this is the place. Very helpful and insightful staff! read more

I stopped buying suits from Daniel Taylor Clothier. They do not stand behind their merchandise when it is defective or flawed. A few years ago (2013-14) I bought four made-to-order Samuelsohn suits over a two-year period. I was happy with the suits even though there were some minor mistakes in the manufacturing process -- such as wrong color of buttons or suit lining compared to what I ordered. I decided to buy a fifth made-to-order ensemble (again, a few years ago in 2014) consisting of a navy blazer and medium gray trousers. That ended up being a huge mistake. There were significant flaws in the blazer such as: 1) major wrinkles in both the front and back, (2) wrong sleeve length on a garment with functioning buttonholes (referred to as "surgeon cuffs"), and (3) a faint yellow stain in the shape of a paperclip at the base of the blazer collar (it appeared someone had paper-clipped a small manila envelope to the collar and some of the yellow dye could have transferred to the garment.) Two minor defects which I fixed myself were: 1) a loose button and, 2) a chipped button. I would have expected a $1,250 blazer to be defect-free, but it wasn't. My salesman presented the finished blazer to me as if nothing was wrong with it. No comments about the glaring defects. Their in-house tailor did what he could do to correct the sleeve length, but with functioning buttonholes on the cuffs, the buttons cannot be moved for proper spacing from the cuff. So now I have a blazer with asymmetrical button stance on both sleeves. That is akin to wearing cuffed trousers and each cuff being different heights. Also, my local dry cleaner could not press out all of the original wrinkles from the factory. The material is a specially-treated performance wool from the Italian mill Loro Piana. This material is supposed to resist wrinkles and stains. It is meant for traveling. Well, since it resists wrinkles from wearing, it also resists being pressed nicely to remove wrinkles. Note that the issue of wrong sleeve lengths on the jacket was due to my salesman transposing my sleeve measurements when writing the order. The wrinkled material and yellow stain were the fault of the Samuelsohn factory in Montreal. Because I had prepaid the full cost of the blazer, I had no leverage in seeking a refund. I believe an honorable merchant would have acknowledged the defective blazer and either 1) refunded my purchase price, or 2) re-order another made-to-order blazer from Samuelsohn. In this specific instance, I felt Daniel Taylor Clothier acted in a dishonorable way. Maybe Daniel Taylor Clothier did not want to irk their supplier Samuelsohn by broaching the subject of customer returns. Better to have an unhappy customer keep the defective merchandise than to bother the supplier of a money-making product line. Final comments on Samuelsohn suits: They are generally highly-regarded in the world of suit manufacturing. Though I did have a bad experience with my fifth Samuelsohn jacket / trouser combination, I still enjoy wearing my other four Samuelsohn suits and have received a compliment or two from strangers while wearing Samuelsohn. It seems as though Samuelsohn has a lower level of quality control (if any) in their made-to-order suits than in their off-the-rack suits. When you go into a men's store and view the Samuelsohn suits, they look flawless. However, when you special order a Samuelsohn suit, "caveat emptor" (buyer beware) applies. My personal strategy for future suit buying would be to visit a custom tailor and have them make a clone of one of my first four Samuelsohn suits (Gable model), and discuss refund policy upfront before placing and paying for the order. read more
