She didn't say hello when we entered or know the answer to any of our questions (price, sizing options, etc) without consulting the website to find the information to the two basic questions she could answer. Special shout out to Calli who was the absolute sweetest in helping me find a green tux for my girl's Wicked-themed daddy-daughter dance. She was so thrilled for the theme that it got me all amped for it, too. I was surprised how quickly the fitting went. I thought this was something that takes at least a half hour but she had me measured, signed up, and paid out lickety-split. The tux was delivered several days ahead of schedule. So much so that I didn't try it on for a while. It was nice to not have to worry about it arriving in time. I will say, the -1 star was because of the final fit. Disappointingly, the jacket sleeves were as long as I wanted the shirt sleeves to be, and the shirt sleeves were as short as I wanted the jacket sleeves to be. For all anyone could tell, I was wearing a short sleeved shirt, and no watch could be visible. TBT does offer a $15 credit to hem wherever you want, but that cost generally exceeds that anyway, and I didn't feel like spending even one extra dollar when the rental was pricey enough for me. Still, it was a great suit - emerald to perfectly match the theme. Got lots of compliments on it. Made me think I could own an emerald suit in general. Instead of shipping the box myself, I took it back to Calli because I was so grateful for her professionalism and enthusiasm that I wanted her to see the final product along with my girls in their pretty dresses. She was overjoyed, and she gladly took care of the return shipping for me. Quality and service are second to none at TBT. I would rent from here again, but if the final fit fails again that would unfortunately be the end of it for me. read more

However the did not have his proper pants in stock, I don't think this was the store employees fault, but their company's behind The scenes employees who messed up - we bought the entire tuxedo and they decided not to ship the pants but change our order to a rental when we bought without telling us. I rented my wedding from The Black Tux. Everything was alright but the bow tie, it kept drooping down and for my entire wedding everyone was trying to fix it which made it really annoying. I had several people check to see if perhaps I put it on wrong but everyone said it wasn't on wrong. When I went back to the store to drop off my tux at the Dallas location I explained the situation only to be told that I probably put it on upside down very rudely by Zerek. Since parking in this neighborhood can be challenging, there are two spaces outside reserved for the black tux. Additionally, tux fittings at the black tux are done only by appointment. I think the Black Tux could be an amazing place to rent/buy formalwear from, however our experience was not good. The lady who assisted us was not helpful. We had to constantly ask her questions of "How long should the sleeve be? Or what is it supposed to look like?" she would give very minimal feedback. This was my fiances first time trying on a tux for our wedding so we had several questions. The other huge problem was that my fiance signed up for a 30 minute fitting, but we ended up being there for an hour and a half. My fiance only tried on 3 jackets and 2 shirts. We watched 4 customers come in and out in the time that we were there. I kept having to prompt the employee to help us move on to the next item. Let me start by saying this. This is the first review I've ever written. This was by far the worst experience I've had with renting a tux and as I look l at all the reviews it all makes sense now. It all started when I tried to submit my measurements. 1. They do not accept measurements. The only way you can get measured is by coming into their showroom. I live in Northwest Arkansas and their only location is in Dallas. This means that I would have had to drive 12 hours there and back just to have them measure me rather than any other suit store or tailor. 2. Since I could not provide measurements my alternative they directed me to was their online quiz that they use to get proportions. As a result, nothing fit except the vest and bow tie which were somehow different from all the other groomsmen. 3. I got to Dallas early for the wedding and went to the showroom to see if anything could be done. They carry nothing in store and do not have a tailor on staff. The only way to potentially correct is to overnight back to the warehouse as soon as you get it in the mail hoping their next educated guess works and delivers on time. How can I have confidence they'll get it right the second or third time if I can't show them in person or give them my measurements? 4. I had to spend $250 at Red Carpet Tailor the day of the wedding to adjust my entire suit. While I was in there, another groomsmen in a different wedding came in for the exact same issue as mine. They also rented from The Black Tux and the company is only willing to reimburse you for $15 of any adjustments made to fix your tux. 5. My pant thighs were way too tight to correct. I struggled pulling them up to my waist. Only a half inch could be let out and I did no dancing the entire reception because I could hardly move. read more

They contacted us via email stating that they are OUT of 38x32, 40x32, and 38x24 sizes for a Navy suit?! But sure, they have 133 pairs of 38x32 available in Blue Tux pants that don't even come close to matching our promised suit color. Your inventory manager should be FIRED. After reserving these rentals months out in advance, only to have us be contacted right before the event that you are having an inventory problem is unacceptable. I will never be renting from here again and making sure none of my friends or colleagues do, so that you don't get the chance to ruin anyone else's event and have them make the mistake of doing business with you. read more

I needed to get my measurements done for my friend's wedding. This place strongly encourages you to use their online system to "guess" your measurements. Being that the rental fee is already expensive, I wanted to make sure I got the measurements right. So I looked at the nearest location to me, which was 50 minutes away. Turns out this is the only location in Dallas. Inconvenient? Sure. But I'm willing to make the sacrifice to spend about 2 hours of my life for my friend. I arrived maybe 10 minutes after the store opened, waiting for someone to help me. There were 2 parties in front of me, so I waited in line. When someone got me, he asked how he could help me. I said "I'm needing to get fitted for a wedding." He looked at me like I had 10 heads. He said "I'm sorry?" I repeated it and he said "Do you have an appointment?" I did not, because every single place I've gone into let me walk in and get the measurement done with no hassle within 5 minutes and walk out. I ask "Do I need an appointment?" He had a kind of shocked look on his face and muttered "Well that's what they're for." with disgust in his voice. I asked to make an appointment, and the next one available was about an hour and a half away. He books it for me without taking any of my information. Seems like he was trying to blow me off. I then sit in my car realizing I would have to sit in my car an hour and a half because driving back and forth 2 hours makes no sense. I decide to just order online, completely negating the purpose of the 2 hour drive because I didn't want to waste 1 and a half more hours of my life. Completely unprofessional of the employee. I don't write dissatisfied reviews like this because I usually give people the benefit of the doubt when they're rude, but this guy left a horrible impression on me. If you want to know who it is, it was a short Caucasian working 3/4/23 around 11am. I hope action is taken against him. I loved that I could easily pick the outfits for my entire party and they received notifications and payment info. Why don't more businesses follow this model? The guy who explained this to me acted like he was doing us a big service by offering to fit all of us in in between other appointments and during his lunch break, but that they were fully booked the rest of the day. My boyfriend needed to rent a full Tuxedo week-of a Black Tie event, they were very nice and helpful in the showroom - however when she was inputting our order I made sure to ask twice if the order included the shirt, shoes, jacket, pants everything - and she confirmed both times. Unfortunately, when his box arrived day before the event there was no shirt included whatsoever. When we called customer service they said there wasn't a shirt on the order and they could not do anything. I made an appointment online. I have men standing on my side (bride) which they didn't have an option to put for the reservation. First red flag for me about not being inclusive but that's their prerogative. I drive 40 mins to the location for an 30 second interaction. When you drive up, there's hardly any regular parking. (Mostly valet) I get inside at exactly 6, which is my appointment time. To my surprise, they had 2 women working, so that made me feel comfortable. I don't get any greeting or acknowledgement. Seems everyone was too busy so I just took a seat and waited. Finally one of the girls finishes and asks to help me. I let them know I'm looking for a specific color suit which they happened to have on display. I walk over to look at suit and turn around to see her helping someone else out. How do I have a set appointment and you go to helping somebody else that just walks in? Welp - here I am with another poor review. I was part of two events for the black tux. My sister's wedding and mine. Sister's wedding: 4/5 groomsmen did not receive all items rented in their box. My wedding: just lol. They managed to be "out of the correct size" for 8/10 rentals. But fear not! They allow a $15 tailoring credit if you keep your receipt! Wait...they advertise a fit guarantee? Wait...my size was so wrong it cost $40 to fix. Between tailoring and custom ordered shirts we lost an additional $250 fixing things we had to send back to these people. Anyway, they're not what they used to be. Don't bother going to the show room to get measured, doesn't matter since they just use their online thing to guess there too. Question this review? Try to call your local show room, let me know if you get anything but a call center. Really really poor experience. Walked in and was meant with pretentious young lady who appeared to be appalled with the concept that I didn't know they required an appointment. The audacity I had in just walking in without an appointment. Fortunately a gentleman there was kind enough to make it work. Regard receiving the tux - total frustration. Didn't receive the tux on time, and was not notified that my order would be late. I reached out to customer service multiple times and all they could say is they are working on it. My concern was later addressed when a representative asked if I could switch out my order with another style. This was for my wedding and all other parties had received their matching jacket. Was told, "No problem, come in early, that actually works better for us." Arrived for the appointment to be told that I couldn't be accommodated early "I'm not sure why they told you that." No apology, no offer to squeeze me in since I was already in the shop. Was very disappointed in the experience, I decided to cancel my appointment as I was worried that they wouldn't be able to follow through with my tux if there was such a lack of communication within the company. We went in to the store early March to get measurements and place an order for the suit I loved and wanted to wear on my wedding day. After getting my measurements, we were told by the staff member helping us the particular suit we wanted would not be back in stock until April 6 but lead time from order to delivery would only be about 10 days. She guaranteed if we placed our order on April 6, it would be delivered in time for our wedding on June 5 (with enough extra time for alterations if they were needed). We placed our order on April 6, paid for the order in full, and received a confirmation and order number. A week passed with no word and customer service was no help so we went back to the store. Upon arrival, the same associate who took measurements informed us the order could not be fulfilled and we would not be receiving the suit, despite having the confirmation AND having paid for the suit in full. She mentioned there is nothing she or the company could do except offer us a refund or we could cross our fingers and hope that someone returns a rental suit in time for me to be able to use it. Neither of these options was sufficient to mitigate the situation but we decided to take the refund and try to piece something together from a different vendor, THANK GOD FOR DILLARDS. Needless to say, this put us in a horrible spot for our wedding day and we couldn't believe the lack of customer service or pride in their product. Do not use this company. If you've ever had to have anything tailored before, do not use these people. I'm not an off the rack size. My chest and shoulders are large, so jackets are massive around my waist and body. The jacket delivered fits my chest and shoulders and looks like a balloon around my body. There are no wide options for shoes. I didn't receive my order until 7 days before the event, then they wanted me to pay for expedited shipping even though I didn't receive the clothes 14 days in advance like I was supposed to. Do yourself and groomsmen a favor. Find a tux that you like, buy or rent it, and give them the details, they can rent it themselves or wear something similar. Nobody pays attention to the groomsmen and ushers. If they're in tuxedos and have the same type of shirt and bowtie on, nobody will know the difference. Update: Don't be fooled by the reply below. Their customer service is terrible as well. The only options to receive the second shipment before the event date through their online service was to pay a $60 expedited shipping fee. I spent over 7 hours on hold with their customer service, and still haven't seen a response to the multiple email inquiries. This is a poorly run and poorly managed company. The fitting went okay but, I mentioned to the "tailor" (I'm not convinced that he actually was a professional tailor) that the shirt neck felt tight, but he said it seemed just right. The idea of receiving the tux rental in the mail seemed odd, but I went along with it. When I got the tux, it came in a very narrow box . Then I took it out of the garment bag it came in to try it on. The jacket was soooo ridiculously wrinkled I couldn't believe my eyes. What kind of quality control is that! The shirt neck was so tight I could barely button it. I thought that I was going to have to send the jacket to the cleaners for pressing but, when I called about it they said they would send out another one (we'll have to see what that looks like). They said that they don't have half neck sizes (no 15 1/2) so he would also send out a button-extender; really??!! What a hassle! Two weeks before the wedding they came back to 6 of my 8 groomsmen saying they didn't have certain items in their size even though they ordered everything a month in advance. I talked to customer service THREE different times and it took over an hour to get a hold of them each time. All three times they told me everything was fixed and then a day later my groomsmen got emails saying they are still out of their size. So not only do they not have proper preparation to ensure people get their tux on time, they have a major communication issue between the customer service department and the warehouse. Two of my groomsmen had to wear tuxes that were either too big or too small. The other two had to buy a shirt and pants to wear. If you are local to a brick n mortar store with time to make an appointment then this will probably work for you. First, online people are super nice. Second, we have to purchase the suit since it is part of a wedding party. Third, the shirt fit, pants fit, but coat arms hung down pass knuckles, very long. Fourth, ordered another jacket with the thought that this was a long instead of regular and sent by mistake but the second coat fit exactly the same. Tried to call n see if we could squeeze in and get an appointment to try on another coat while we were visiting Dallas which is 200 miles away. They could not accommodate us. Ironically, we were going to sort out this suit coat sizing and purchase an additional suit in another color. Online ordering n service is great conceptually as long as everything fits. Let me say that the quality is great so if you are an off the rack size then this is a great choice for you. If it doesn't fit, your options are limited. We have been instructed to have it tailored which they would reimburse us $33. This avenue is not positive. It isn't the money but the time. Ultimately, it may be our only option. Eek! We are five weeks out to the wedding date, on our second coat, n are attempting to get a coat that fits. At this point, we will go to a local men's store, remeasure, buy an additional suit from the local venue, and attempt another replacement coat from the black tux. Remember measurements were sent n everything fitted (shirt n pants) except the coat which is big in the belly n super long in the arms for a 46 regular on a 6 foot man. IDK. Bottom line, make sure that you have plenty of time to mail back items. Also they are super quick at delivering items so that is a huge plus in this equation but you need to plan for it. We will send these two back n get another coat, maybe third time is a charm. Would have been nice if they would have allowed out of Towners to just come into the Dallas office n try on a 46 short without an appointment. They don't have a slim. Not sure if they have a short? They would have resolved the issue and secured a second purchase (if we knew what size). It appears that we maybe locked into a $500 suit that just doesn't fit properly. If something changes then I'll update the review but for now, it is still unresolved.
