The shop itself is tiny, with just a couple of small tables outside, so plan on taking your treats to go rather than settling in. We went with the flight, which is a fantastic way to sample the menu: 3-4 flavors for $10 (as of August '26), which is a great value considering a single half scoop runs $4.50 on its own. It was plenty to split between two adults and a kid. We tried the peanut butter M&M, a-lota-choco-lata, salted caramel, and butter brickle (a butter pecan base loaded with toffee brittle) and all four were excellent. They also offer sorbet and vegan options, so there's something for everyone in the group. For the price and quality, this is a great choice if you're wandering the plaza and want something sweet.

Sonoma resident here, and honestly, tourist fatigue is real during the summer months when it's difficult to find any parking whatsoever within a 2-block radius of Sweet Scoops on the plaza - and when you just want a nice quality homemade ice cream it's such a bummer to have to hard-pass due to inability to easily and quickly access. SO Darling is the perfect alternative (same owners, same ice cream, same quality, slightly different vibe). Ice cream cones are actually ~25% less expensive than Sweet Scoops (with rents in the sometimes in upwards of $10k per lease, I guess this is NO surprise) and there is plenty of seating around the shared space pavilion out front if either of their two bistro table sets out front are occupied. Lines are short (or often non-existent) and they have a lovely selection of little gift items & cards plus their stand-up freezer with pints and celebratory confections, too. We stopped in to grab lunch on our way home. The sandwich menu is now limited, and you can no longer build your own. We ordered two sandwiches, and while they were decent, they didn't justify the high price. There is still both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice, but the overall experience felt like a shadow of what made this place so special. I really miss the vibrant marketplace where people gathered to sample cheeses, pick up lunch, and enjoy everything Sonoma had to offer. Sadly, we won't be returning. With so many outstanding places to eat around Sonoma, this no longer stands out and, in our opinion, has gone downhill.
