This market has some of the most beautiful produce I have ever seen, and such a wonderful selection! It is a little on the pricier side for a grocery store, but everything seemed very fresh. I stopped in recently while on a short trip to Sonoma, specifically for salsa, some kind of dip or spread for crackers, and a cheese or two. I spent awhile browsing because that's the best part, and left with exactly what I needed (proud and amazed I stuck to my budget haha). I bought a fantastic bleu cheese, brie, a cantina style salsa, and this whipped, layered, tomato-basil dip made of ground almonds, avocado, sour cream, tomatoes, and herbs. Kind of a lot going on, but it was so good. It's always fun to see what you'll find here. The management response is tone deaf to the facts laid out in my reviews. It's not a one time situation, it's serial failure that needs a review of your process. A commitment to better food. The store could sell so much more food than it does, they have no idea. But people want quality food at the hot bar not what they have there now. Overall, the store is pretty good but they're hot food display is an absolute embarrassment for the store. It's always old picked over food or just empty. If you come in here at five 5 o'clock or after, it's always a disgusting display. Very sad to see. read more

Can't tell you how many times I've gone to the deli counter to order a breakfast burrito only to be told that I have to come back later to place my order because they're too busy right now. When I called to ask the manager why this was constantly happening I was given excuses. It's called multi tasking. It only takes 30 seconds to take a breakfast burrito order. Then you go back to doing whatever you were doing prior. Not going back. I must spend over 300 dollars a week at that store on groceries but they won't take my breakfast order. WTF? read more

I'm totally late on this review but I'm catching up with my reviews from some trips over the past 12 months or so. The good news is, I know this place, I know it well. With a best friend living in Sonoma I'm in town often and this is always a mandatory stop to get our ingredients for a weekend full of home cookin'. This is a meat department that makes me wish that the movid "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" was a real thing. Seriously. Remember that movie? You could shoot a silly lazer at something (hopefully not kids) and make them small. So, if I could do that I'd shrink this store, put it in my pocket and transport it back to San Diego before enlarging it again. Once done, I can go grab an expertly trimmed rack of ribs by a Sonoma Market meat man any time that I want. And that, friends, that is what dreams are made of. This is a super cute market. It had a lot of quality products like non-fat Straus Greek yogurt and Nancy's yogurts which I eat regularly. There were tons of fruits and vegetables. The Deli is at one end and the butcher counter is at the opposite end. This place has a nice layout and there are many things of interest. If you like snacks, there are many kinds of chips available. There is a lot of variety. We were going hiking after this so we both ordered freshly made specialty sandwiches (we both got the Dutch Crunch bread). The guys at the deli counter were friendly and informative. When asked what the difference was between the Dutch Crunch or Ciabatta breads, they showed me both and they were identical except Dutch Crunch had a crunchy top. Unfortunately, that meant that the top of my Dutch Crunch were slightly burnt (blackened) and although I paid 12.99 for a grilled chicken sandwich (The Calistoga), I didn't care for the tomato pesto at all. It tasted like pizza sauce with some nuts in it. The portion of the cheese was thin and my grilled chicken was thin layers of chicken so not sure if it was grilled. My husband had the roast beef sandwich for 10.99 and he did like it. I took a photo of the newest sandwich selection so make sure you study it before ordering it lest you be disappointed with your selection as I was. I wish that I had tried their burrito instead which a young man in front of us ordered. As for supermarkets, this one doesn't disappoint! It's more charming than Whole Foods. I would be proud if this was my neighborhood supermarket. read more

We've gone wine tasting multiple times in the area, and whenever we do, we stop hear for snacks and some supplement beverages. There is a good selection of both, and the staff is always VERY friendly and helpful. You can't go wrong if you need to get something quick when you're on the road. read more

Sonoma Market is a great shop for the occasional indulgence, or to pick up a handful of of items if you don't want to circle the Safeway parking lot across the street, but the hot, serve-yourself items often look dried out (am I stopping by too late? I didn't think late afternoon was terribly late). Produce is fairly pricey considering you have other options within a mile radius. Staff are consistently pleasant and helpful, the store is clean, and I've rarely had to wait in a line more than two customers deep at the register - and despite my moderate grumblings, I do find myself there probably once a month for "dinner someone else cooked." read more

I grew up going to Sonoma Market daily. When it was independently owned it offered the best grocery selection in Sonoma County, as well as the best deli counter. While home for the holidays I went to Sonoma Market, now owned by Nugget Markets. What a disappointment. The store looks ratty, the quality of groceries and especially of prepared food has plummeted. Mass produced junk that trades on the Sonoma Market name and is sold at wildly marked up prices. Genuinely saddened to see the best market in town decline into a grimy shell of itself. read more

I just went to the deli area, boy do they have a great prepared food section!! It might be better than WF!! I just ordered a salsa turkey sandwich. It comes with cheese, guacamole, and unspicey peppers. It's warmed too. The ciabatta bread was so good!! It came to $11.xx with tax. The service was nice. The store has lots of specialty foods. I thought the 14oz festive gummies for $4.99 was pretty fair. I'll go back to get them. read more

This review is only for the cake we ate from there. This red velvet cream cheese cake was delicious! It was moist & not overly sweet. I usually don't eat the frosting on cakes but this one was so good. Also look at how beautiful it looks & it smelled so good with the rose petals. Can't wait to try more of their desserts. read more

Sonoma Market is a Nugget Market now and has been for several years. Its aspiration is to profit from the Sonoma brand by selling regular supermarket mass produced items as artisan foodstuffs. Many won't notice because they are the vacation rental crowd and people are just getting older. in any case choice and quality are better found at Pacific Market in Petaluma or Santa Rosa or Oliver's Market in Cotati or Santa Rosa. read more

By far the best service I have received in a market. Gina the Kitchen managers positive and "can do" attitude saved my bosses bday weekend. Sonoma Market is a great place to stock up for a picnic lunch to enjoy in between wineries. Kinda like a local version of Whole Foods. I think they sell groceries and stuff but we came in for prepared foods for an affordable lunch. The deli counter runs a tight operation and makes quick work of the tickets. We loved our "Bahn Mi" (not quite authentic but it did the trick) and Turkey BLT. Both were packed with meat and vegetables, and the soft french bread was perfect. While you're waiting for your sandwich, don't overlook the cold salads behind you. We tried a pasta salad and a cucumber salad; both were fresh and delicious accompaniments. read more

I havnt been in for a while and at this point I just have to leave a review. At one point in time this was just Sonoma market a place that made amazing sandwiches had a good hot bar and an amazing produce counter. Since nugget took over it went way down in quality but I also moved away so even though I didn't like the quality and price changes I never wrote a review. Was back visiting old friends and went in to just the most sad decline of what was once a great market. Sandwiches are down the drain completely which was my favorite part years ago and it's the fact they changed the whole menu and it's honestly pathetic. The staff seems miserable the pre cooked meals looked sad compared too what they use to be and the ribeye I got was crazy priced and no better then Safeway across the street. They should stop calling themselves Sonoma market cause this is just a corporate operation in a small town that took over a once amazing business. Will not be returning ever again. Head over to glen ellen market it's changed to but still holds a lot of its integrity unlike this(they were once sister companies). read more

This place reminded me of a whole foods, Italian deli, small mom and pop shop rolled into one. Super cute, wide variety of everything really and the sandwiches were soo good. The line was a little confusing at first, do we get in line, pick a number, what is happening, also it was noon, so it was hectic... but went smoothly and got our meals pretty quickly. Mine had turkey, avocado, cranberry sauce, sprouts and was soo good and big, I couldn't finish it all even though I wanted to. The menu was nice too because it was sectioned by meat, so chicken, beef,, veggie,, ect..Also we got this laganitas beer that's not sold everywhere which was nice, to find such a variety of booze lol, hey we were there for a girls weekend, don't judge, would totally go back again for lunch or shopping if I'm in the area. read more

I'm a wife and a mom, which means I spend far too much of my time at the supermarket. So I've become picky as to which I visit and this is my favorite in town (for reference my favorite in the world is Zabar's). They have quality products, in particular for meats and veggies and always seem to have the odd kitchen item you are missing - like a pie dish recently. Everything is "just so" for lack of a better explanation. It has every baguette and cheese this French could ever ask for and the most delicious chicken tenders (decidedly not French but they make the best). The staff is unfailingly pleasant and attentive. In particular, the beverage manager is top notch - he has fantastic recommendations and knows everything from Chardonnay to Bourbon. Even eating "in" is pleasant! read more
