This is definitely one of my go-to places for specifically grilled mackerel (Godeungeo Gui). It comes with Jjigae/soup (choose between soybean, riceh soybean, and seaweed), but I don't usually care for it so I always pick seaweed since it's good for you. Complimentary banchan is given, but not our favorite. Our other go-to dish is the Samgye Tang (ginseng chicken soup) since it's very hearty and good for you especially when you're feeling under the weather. Same with the mackerel! We had an extremely disturbing experience at Danji. While dining with our baby, we were preparing to go to the restroom to change a diaper after being reminded by staff. We immediately stood up and complied. However, the staff member (maybe the owner)continued to question us aggressively, and as he walked away, he turned around and said the Korean profanity "ssibal (씨발)" toward us -- an extremely vulgar curse word equivalent to the F-word in English. This was shocking, abusive, and completely unacceptable behavior toward customers, especially a family with a child. This restaurant clearly lacks basic professionalism and respect. We will never return and strongly advise families to avoid this place. read more

I had a decent experience here, ordered a jjigae and others ordered the ginseng chicken soup and the mackarel casserole. The ginseng chicken soup was simple and light, but not much ginseng flavor. I would probably skip this dish if you want more ginseng herbally flavors. The jjigae was flavorful but had some interesting things like zucchini and potato in there. As for the service, it gave me unpleasant experience. The biggest disappointment for me was the part, when I asked for to go box and waitress asked me "what for". It was a bit awkward bc I was literally standing in front of her in the middle of the entrance also not knowing what to do. And time goes very slow when you're just standing in one spot. Place was 75% empty, so I don't see the reason that took her so long to decide. Anyway, I was already looking through the menu when she brought the QR code and said "it's the menu, scan it." I was confused but opened it. It took me to their website explaining what's Korean food is. Then, I noticed that next to that QR code it said, "if that's your first time trying Korean cuisine etc, etc." Ngl, It felt off. Decided to try this place out with my mom after hearing good things about their food. Overall, I thought the food was great! My mom got Galchi gui & chungookjang jjigae and I got yukgaejang. Before the main dishes come out, they give you 6 assorted side dishes with warm white rice. They all tasted great and the main dishes came out soon after. The grilled fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I don't usually like grilled fish, but I thought it was delicious. The side of chungookjang jjigae was pretty good too! My yukgaejang was huuuuuuuge. Honestly was bigger than my hand. Also, not bad. Although the food doesn't come anywhere close to my mom's home cooking, I say this place is pretty great for a restaurant with great prices. When you walk in you are hit with the smell of chung guk jang, which is a traditional Korean fermented bean stew. To some it may be a hash smell that takes some getting used to, but for me its the smell of home :) I think the fish dishes here are great, my favorite being the joki gui. Parking is super easy. The ambience of the place is about average -- it's clean, simple, and it just works. FOOD: Having eaten here many times, I go back to the same couple of dishes. The Sweet and Spicy Fried Chicken is amazing -- it's extra crispy and glazed with a flavorful, well, sweet and spicy sauce. The toppoki with ramen is also tasty; it has just the right amount of rice cakes and vegetables (and ramen!). If you are in the mood for soup, I'd recommend the budae jigae -- it has sausage, tofu, fish cakes, and more. Didn't know it was the same restaurant as Tosokchon in Annandale. I go to the one I'm Annandale for lunch occasionally cause it's closer to my work but this is even better! It's close to my house now I can even come here during weekends as well. I normally get Chunggookjang (which is fermented bean soup, it does acquire taste and smell - not for Korean food beginners) at their Annandale location but now I can eat here as well! Today I had their Gobchangjeongol (spicy intestine soup) it was really good. Gobchang (intestines) was so soft and didn't have that particular smell when you treated wrong. The portion was so big I think 4 people can eat it more than enough (it was me and my sister and I brought more than half home).
