A bartender (piercings, tattoos, black sunglasses and hat) aggressively yelled at me for sitting in a chair he claimed was taken -- even though there were no reservation signs and two chairs were open in a packed house. I told him I'd move when the people arrived, but he kept making a scene. When they showed up, I gave up the seat and stood while finishing my food (as I told I would do it) -- which still seemed to bother him. Later, he refused to serve me anything else and even told staff not to serve me, claiming a "manager" instructed it (which wasn't true -- the actual manager was nice to me later on, and got me drinks). I tried to handle everything respectfully, but I left feeling anxious and mistreated. I've never been yelled at like that in a restaurant before. I'm leaving this review, but for a moment I seriously considered taking this further due to the embarrassment and harassment I experienced. The vibe during big games is fun and lively, and it feels like a proper sports bar experience. On non game days, it can feel pretty empty, which is a bit of a vibe killer. That said, they make up for it with a ton of arcade games. I once spent a full hour on the Big Buck Hunter machine and had a great time, so there is definitely still stuff to do even when it is slow. I really enjoy coming to this spot in union square. It feels kind of like a hidden spot but it's actually very well known. They have a huge selection of beers. I'll usually bring friends here if they're visiting the city and staying somewhere near union square for some drinks and some bites. They have arcade games and a few other fun things to try. They also have a large screen for watching your favorite games. They have servers that walk around and help at your table. Or just go up to the bar and place your order for the drinks and food. There are no signature cocktails, but I got a lemon drop that was made to perfection. The bartenders were amazing and ran that place like a well oiled machine. I was so pleasantly surprised when we decided to go here to watch the Dodgers vs Blue Jays game 6 of the world series. It was Halloween which was a Friday so I was a bit worried how crowded it would be, but we were able to get a table for 5 pretty easily at 5pm. They have one massive screens and other large tvs scattered around the whole place. The staff are super friendly and take care of the tables in a timely manner. Bathrooms were super clean for a bar bathroom. We were able to park in the lot next to the Marriott off of spot hero for only about $3 an hour which felt like a steal for SF. We ordered the wings, mini corndogs, fries, tacos, and jalapeño poppers. They had a pretty good happy hour menu, so I'd recommend going then! The absolute WORST "sports bar" I have ever been to. Went for the Final Four. Out of approx 25 TVs they have 4 on the game. There is one bartender and you have to stand in line for 20 minutes or more to get a drink. And then my drink had the distinct taste of soap in the glass. I love the option of curly fries because you can't find them many places. My only qualm was the ordering system. Went here on a recent trip for a playoff game. We were there early as our game started at 10am. When we arrived we walked right up to the bar and ordered a beer and food with no wait. The place was mostly empty for the size of the space at that point. The room is very large and it felt like we would have lots of leg room throughout. However, it filled up quickly and it can become very difficult to get refills or order anything else as you have to stand in line at the bar. One line for all orders. By the second quarter there were consistently 50 plus people waiting to order. We were told that we could not order from the server which is fine but it was a long wait so be ready. The first 4 beers I tried to order were tapped and the bar tender seemed disinterested and unhappy to be there. The food was decent bar food but took nearly and hour for an order of garlic fires and we ordered before the crowd came. I guess the worst part was that the "not servers" cannot close out your check either and I had to stand in line for 45 minutes to pay my bill. Overall the space was ok with lots of large TVs, food was decent but took a long time and the waits are a real draw back. I stopped in to watch the Super Bowl and the ambiance was absolutely electric -- if you plan on watching any sort of sports final, definitely plan on coming early to get a table. Despite how packed it way, the servers were really nice -- they were definitely super busy, but I can't blame them. The third floor was great for watching the game, since they have large projectors along the entire wall. I had an accident that has left me with possible permanent damage at this establishment and they won't take accountability. On December 13th, 2025 I attended Santa Con in SF and was going to meet the rest of our group at Golden Gate Taproom. It was around 6pm when we got to the city and 6:20 when we got to the bar. I was sober entering the bar and went straight to the bathroom. When I was coming out of the stall I saw someone walking towards me so I moved to the right to let them go and before I knew it I was tripping over a LARGE SCALE that was placed next to the exit of the stall. My sister and friends were with me so they helped me out of the bathroom and NOT ONE staff member helped. I sat down for 15 min while my siblings asked for help and NO ONE batted an eye, they were told "I just work here I don't know what to do". So my sister decided to get me out of there and got me an uber home. I've since been off work and it's APRIL. My ankle will probably never be the same again, all because of that misogynistic scale that HAD to be in a women's restroom. Their lawyer has denied any responsibility which is INSANE and they never filed an incident report. This place is a joke. If you're going to have people drunk and packed in a place at least care about your customers safety. I wasn't even drunk and got injured so I can't imagine what would happen to someone that isn't coherent.
