Went last night and I must say the service was fantastic. I hadn't been in years and was surprised to see reviews here with negative commenting on the service. Our server (didn't ask her name) was great! In addition to doing the things a server should do (explaining options, staying connected and checking in) she also took the time to clarify/confirm things in the kitchen regarding our daughter's food allergies. I believe she said she has a child with similar allergies. Great to have a server that is genuinely friendly. Not only was our server great but I noticed there were plenty of staff doing a great job of keeping all the tables happy. They also worked together in helping each other with tables that weren't "there's". Everyone (including the woman mentioned in earlier posts) was working hard and as welcoming and friendly as can be. I have had the pleasure of dining at Dano's twice. Once for a special event and once more recently. I love their Bavarian style food. Everyone in our party enjoyed their main dishes and the bread service we ordered. The desserts left something to be desired - especially knowing how good german desserts typically are. Amazing food! Best in the finger lakes. All the food is unique and delicious. The service is wonderful. The space is beautiful. The borscht was some of the best I have had (and I'm Russian). Been planning on stopping by here since I started planning this trip to the Finger Lakes a few weeks ago. Arrived to a sign at the front door saying reservations only. The host said it was up to the server as to whether to take another table. Despite an almost entirely empty restaurant, where my friend and I would be gone before Most tables would be seated. They could t accept another party of 2. As a rule, I don't make a reservation for lunch. A sign outside isn't helpful. If you're going to have a reservations-only policy, it needs to be on your website--I need to know this before I go out of my way to come to your place. And then if I show up to an empty restaurant and the main issue is an overloaded server, try to find a solution. Maybe offer us a to-go order. Don't just brush us off. How about some empathy? This was just poor service and speaks to the level of service we probably would've had in the restaurant. So disappointing. read more

We enjoyed a late lunch at Dano's on the east side of Seneca Lake. Starting out with the bread bowl with an assortment of spreads and breads. Thinking we were going to take some home didn't pan out. They disappeared quickly. Our favorite was fresh baked same day. The others were good but not very fresh. Of course it is the off season so it was ok. I ordered a cup of pea soup which the waiter forgot to bring. It was delishious but awkward eating it with my lunch already delivered. Too bad because this would have been a 5 star place. The burgers were phenomenal with a choice of a special topping, the goulash very good and the herring salad had large chunks of fish. Oh and the potato salad: yum! Slices of potato with sweet onions and a clear liquid. Though 4 stars, this place is way better then the local competition. We'll be back! read more

My husband and I dined at Dano's tonight and couldn't have been happier!!! We had seen the very negative reviews on Yelp and just about didn't go, but after talking to some locals, we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. Austrian food was unique for us, but it was a really fun experience--almost like ordering tapas. We were seated promptly, after going through Covid protocol (waiting outside, required hand sanitizing prior to entry). I don't get the angry comments in other review about this. They are just being cautious and trying to keep their customers safe--Who could argue with that? After being seated, we were offered paper menus if we wanted them. As we had never seen this format before, we asked our waitress Emily how to order. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Emily made some suggestions, but gave us plenty of time to make our dining decisions. She took the first part of our order as we were pretty indecisive, but then came back several times once we had made our decisions. Her wine recommendation was excellent! She suggested a wine we normally wouldn't have ordered and it paired wonderfully with every course. We chose the larger basket of assorted breads which were delicious--just the right amount of crunch with the three spreads we selected (artichoke/lemon, walnut/horseradish, and Gorgonzola). These were amazing--so light and flavorful. We had the roasted cauliflower and the sauerkraut, which were beautifully prepared. We had two different kinds of sausages, each very different. (Sorry I can't remember which two.) Came with a ginger sauce and mustard with horseradish, but we also ate them with the sauerkraut. We had planned to order dessert, but were stuffed. So we got the Apple/pear/walnut strudel to go, which turned out to be a great choice. Emily was just the right amount of attentive during our meal--not interrupting, checked on us occasionally to make sure everything was to our liking. She even asked if we wanted leftover boxes. Some people complained about the 20% gratuity being part of the bill, but Emily was worth it. Besides, it clearly says this is their policy on their website and on the chalkboard outside the front door. We highly recommend Dano's and if we didn't live in Washington State, would definitely return. But then again, who knows when we might be back here again? read more

It's so rare to find good Austrian food in the U.S., but this place is marvelous and reminded me fondly of wine garden meals I had in Vienna decades ago. Great space and view of the lake and sunset. I was impressed with the large array of choices, but we settled on the Viennese Bento Box (nice sausage, pork loin, cabbage, cucumber, liptaeur spread, spaetzle and potato salad) and the vegetable tart (which my wife loved). We started with breads and the horseradish walnut spread, which was great. I enjoyed a mug of gruner veltliner (could have been a little more chilled) and my wife had one of the cocktails. We were too full for dessert but the coffee was great. Overall, a perfect choice to close out a day of tasting white wines. read more

I had a wonderful time there a few years and heard it changed ownership, but thought I would give it a chance. My recent experience was a complete 180. I worked in the service industry for years and give a lot of wiggle room for servers, but this was a super weird experience. They were half empty, but we waited extended periods for everything. Even a drink took twenty minutes. They brought me the wrong entree and not even an apology. The waiter actually acted like I messed things up and was rude and passive aggressive. If they had even offered a free coffee/desert just a gesture it probably would have been forgotten, but felt like we were treated poorly for bad service and the food was mediocre . I love the ambience and view and was looking forward to returning, but won't be back after this last time. Also very strange that they charge for bread if you order a spread. read more

I spent the week recently touring the finger lakes. I was very excited to see an Austrian restaurant. Made reservations and arrived promptly. The hostess was friendly and seated our party of four quickly. Our server came and had a miserable personality. Had to drag descriptions out of her about the menu and specials. We chose the catfish and a combo plate chop sausage sauerkraut etc. we waited for an eternity for a beer. The beer was good solid German style Pilsner. Time continued to pass. After an hour literally, we received our food dumped unceremoniously on the table and the server quickly ran away. The catfish was mealy and way overcooked. My dish was ice cold and obviously microwaved. This was perhaps the worst meal and service I have had in years. In short, drive right on by and don't stop here!!!!!!! read more

We've been visiting the Watkins Glen area for 10+ years and somehow never knew about Dano's. Well, now we know! Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. The owner was very kind and chatted with us for a few minutes as we were leaving after a fantastic meal. They are serious about following all Covid guidelines and we felt very safe and comfortable eating here. My wife had the vegetarian bento box and I had the Viennese bento box. Both were incredibly delicious. We really loved the inventive spin on classic Austrian/German flavors. Be sure to start with a couple spreads..the Liptauer and Gorgonzola were both amazing. So great. I have eaten at this restaurant several times! I used to have such a high regard - have said wonderful things about this establishment but today was the worst experience I've ever encountered. The woman who greeted us (short - dark hair - glasses ) probably Dano's wife ... was not only unfriendly - but was extremely condescending,rude, arrogant and treated us with such disrespect I will never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone ever again! Upon walking in - one of the people in our party walked to - what was thought to be the hostess stand - a women ( same as above) proceeded to scold our party and let them know that they "needed to Stand over there " if they were looking to have a table- "we will get to you when we can! " The friendly girl working approached us - offered to take us to a table. We asked for outside with an umbrella.. she very Nicely obliged ! With in minutes of her trying to set up umbrella ( which I was helping set up ) said women approached and proceeded to tell us "that if we wanted the Umbrella up we would have to move over and hold it the entire time " (I agree it was a windy moment -) so I in turn, asked, if there was a table inside that we could have. She proceeded to scold us again by saying that we "should have just waited for me to seat you". She then let us know that"probably not!" On the inside table request ! We left! read more

After my first visit, I'd rate it 3.5 stars, but giving it 4 for the potential to be better. The interior of Dano's is modern and upscale, and it has an amazing location right on the lake (a great spot for sunset views!). They serve Austrian cuisine, which you don't find in many places. There were a few dishes I didn't care too much for (wasn't very fond of the knödel, but that could just be my taste), but all of the meat dishes were absolutely delicious. We also had the BEST server (I wish I caught her name!), who had a great energy and brought a smile to our faces. My main drawback was that the kitchen was extremely slow getting our mains out, for which our server apologized profusely (because our reservation was later on in the night, she said that the kitchen staff must've been getting tired). We received our appetizer pretty soon after ordering, but it was at least another hour until we received our mains. Also, I got a bit of a cold vibe from the rest of the staff except our server, who again, was great. Our table was right by a vent that was blasting cold air in the evening time, and we asked if they could turn on the fireplace nearby, which the hostess immediately shut down (she could have said it more politely). They did bring out covers for the vent, which was helpful. We also had a strange interaction with another server near the end of our meal. He came over to clear some of our plates that still had a bit of food on them (we said it was okay to clear), and our server interjected, saying that she would handle it and didn't want to rush us. He responded in a rude and flippant tone that we said it was okay and walked away, and I honestly felt bad for our server. Overall, Dano's is a good restaurant that serves great food and has a killer view, but the service could use some work (though I can't stress enough how awesome our server was). We might have gone on an off day or just had a few weird experiences, which is why I'd definitely return for the unique, delicious food and great view. read more

i was part of a visiting group of 12 last night and we had a wonderful meal at Danio's. The low rating is from the horrible service we received from our waitress. First off we weren't allowed to have separate checks. Second was the long wait for her to return to serve us. We were there for 3 hours! Most of it was waiting for her. When we received the final check the total was to be divided up by us and mind you there were service charges, tax, and a mandatory 20% gratuity fee in there also. It is a shame we had to end the meal by doing administrative tallying to handle our bill. Especially when we all felt that the mandatory tip of 20% was not earned. People, our food was great but my suggestion is to only go in a small group. read more

It's one of the best places in the Finger Lakes to have a meal. It's very original and meals are wonderful. And probably one of the few places in Finger Lakes that is open year round. The fare is very appropriate for the lack of the better word the Hungarian and Austrian style dishes hit the spot in the Riesling country and are very tasty to say the least. I originally rated this place 5 stars a few years ago, but the quality of the food and service/attitude have gone down to the point we won't go back. I would rate this place 3 stars but not for the poor attitudes which needlessly wasted our time and made the meal unpleasant. Good Points : newish building with a view of the lake 1/2 mile away, and nice covered patio. Private free parking lot. Wine is not too expensive (albeit somewhat cheap wine) Just so You know : 40 minute drive each way from downtown Ithaca (1:20 driving time). Problems : 1. Low Food Quality : The weinersnitzel was very small, unevenly cooked, and oddly shaped. In Vienna this dish would be 2.5 times as big and better. Dano knows this because a few years ago they had a good schnitzel fish dish. But not now. The "Farmers Plate" is an appetizing mishmash of meats, not very tasty bread dumplings, and sauerkraut that reminded me of an old baseball glove. No mustard. The potato salad which was good a few years ago, is now essentially cold potato slices drenched in lemon juice. 2. Time Lapse - We were there a full two hours - most of that time was waiting, and at the end we just got up and went straight to the desk to ask for the check rather than waste another 30 minutes. The inside of the restaurant was about 40% full so it was not that busy. 3. Service - At each and ever step, the waitress was inexplicably slow even for the most simple requests, as if it was a hidden camera situation. A. After waiting an hour to get our food, we needed silverware, that took 12 minutes by which time we had already grabbed some off another empty table. B. We asked for coffee and dessert together - dessert comes but no coffee for 10+ minutes. We almost finish the desert before coffee arrives (we ordered Americano and got an expresso essentially), we asked for some cream, and waited another 10 minutes, and we finally gave up, finished up and left. C. When we came in, waitress made no effort to even stop at our table. We had to flag her down and request she take our order. 4. Bread - one of the few restaurants that does not provide some sort of free bread or snack while you are waiting (in our case, we waited a full hour for our food). 5. More about Food : Like a deli, they seem to have vast amounts of pre-prepared spread and ingredients kept in a glass case as you walk in - these are apparently there all day and possibly multiple days since the quantities look pretty large, so they probably sit for days 6. Planning : We arrive at 8 pm and they were already sold out of their main dish goulash. 7. Attitude : Hostess/Owner when telling us the goulash was gone seemed flippant and almost like it was our fault for coming so late (at 8 pm!) 8. Freezing cold - in July, they cranked up the Air conditioning to a ridiculous degree. We had to go to the car and get jackets. We asked repeatedly to tone it down, but nothing changed. You're sitting there cold and hungry and nothing to eat for an hour - the ingredients to get sick. We drove a long way to come to the his place for a nice dinner and it was a long and unpleasant evening. We won't be back. read more

The Good: Dano's is a family-owned, chef-driven, classy and modern restaurant near lots of wineries (get some local wine!) and overlooking beautiful Seneca Lake. It is a modern, upscale, American-oriented version of a heuriger, which is an Austrian wine-tavern for gathering and sharing -- get wine and appetizers, go on a date and share, or bring a group and share the beautiful food, beautiful restaurant and beautiful view. We loved the garden right out front where they grow their own herbs!! Gorgeous view. Classy atmosphere, classical music. Beautiful, modern, clean, spacious, open restaurant. High ceilings with glass all around for an amazing view the lake, of robins on the perfect lawn, and beautiful open patio. Fresh flowers on each table, clean & modern architecture, simple and classy but unpretentious. Lovely interior design with clean lines. You don't have to dress fancy, but do look nice. The wife of the chef, who is the manager/doer of everything painted the modern art above the window-walls. Hearty, simple, share-able, well-done Austrian (not new American!) food. Awesome charcuterie -- excellent pate, homemade sausage, and even homemade quince paste from their own quince trees!!! Recommend the charcuterie -- get it to munch on while you enjoy the view and the wine! The Bad: Slow service, heavy food. So take your time and bring friends! Slow service -- sit back and enjoy your wine, the atmosphere and the view. Heavy food-- Goulash was so heavy and dark I got full just LOOKING at it. Seafood wrapped in cabbage was lovely but again, intensely filling somehow. Come very hungry or bring a group! Waitress was unable to make wine recommendations and had to get her mom every time, so we had to wait a lot, which we didn't mind because we had wine to drink, delicious charcuterie to munch on, the view of the lake and the lawn was lovely. The Food: Charcuterie was amazing, a trip here wouldn't be complete without their house-cured meats, FANTASTIC cheese, variety of spreads and pate. Get it!! The bread basket was $3 for a large variety of local (but not homemade) breads (they only make the focaccia). The breads were decent but don't fill up on them, dinner will be heavy!! Also $3 per scoop of spreads, which are delicious and homemade, but expensive. Our entrees were tasty but extremely heavy, I could barely eat more than a bite! Espresso after dinner was lovely but came one at at time, and no sugar cubes, just packets. The Service: Our server Sophia is the daughter of the owners -- her dad is the chef and her mother was working as well. It was only Sophia and her mother running the entire restaurant, which was empty when we arrived but nearly filled up, and although service slowed down during that rush, they did a good job considering it was just the two of them. Her mom's wine recommendations were spot-on and went fantastic with our charcuterie and entrees. Sophia was professional (with the exception of wine knowledge) if decidedly impersonal. But she checked on us, didn't make mistakes, served every table and got the job done. Her mother helped run food and bus tables, she was very efficient. We enjoyed ourselves a lot, we spent several hours there and weren't rushed or neglected. Overall: A truly lovely experience in a beautiful building with a beautiful view and wonderful food. Recommended if you take your time, share food, get appetizers and wine --don't just get entrees and leave -- enjoy yourself and relax, they won't rush you. Overall it was a beautiful experience, mostly for the wine and charcuterie! I enjoyed myself immensely despite the heavy entrees and would love to go back. Tip: The food is Viennese, as in from Vienna, Austria, a country in Europe bordering Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungry and Bosnia. We stopped by for an afternoon snacks after going around wine tasting on the west side of the lake. We needed a break before starting the east side wine tasting. This is a cute little place in the middle of nowhere (that's what it felt like to us). The interior is modern and sleek. Outside seating with a view of Seneca lake is a plus. The menu confused us a bit at first, but we managed to order ourselves plenty to snack; 3 scoops of spreads (Liptauer, Roasted bell pepper, and horseradish walnut) with a basket of varieties of bread and one smoked Hungarian sausage. Yes, the food is a bit pricey. I thought of it as ..okay, I paid for the view! The spreads were okay...Roasted bell pepper was my favorite out of the three, some bread was pretty good. Sausage was delicious and complimented well with mustard seed sauce. The only complaint was our waiter took forever to give us a check and the restaurant wasn't even busy at the time. I wish I got to try their entrees, but we weren't super hungry. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely swing by! read more

I really enjoyed dinner here tonight. On Thursday evenings they have live outdoor music. I expected it to be loud and difficult to talk with the music but the music was actually really peaceful and relaxing. The artists even made sure to do a soundcheck to make sure that the music was audible enough for the guests but that the noise wasn't overpowering peoples' conversation. There is both indoor and outdoor dining. From either spot you're able to enjoy the view of the Seneca lake. I thought their outdoor grass area was spacious and nice. The outdoor picnic tables are covered by a white tent and there are some additional wooden tables on the grass side with umbrellas for shade. The artists that were there today played folksy modern songs like Vance Joy. This restaurant earned a James Beard award in 2016. I didn't know it'd be a German joint until I came. I tried their special spread of the day (caper, dill, anchovies, and some other flavors) and ordered a 1/2 basket of bread to go with it. I thought the spread was really nice. The dill flavor definitely shined through. I also got a smoked Hungarian sausage ($8.50) from the charcuterie section that came with a nice spicy grainy mustard. I ordered a side of spaetzle that is high in protein due to the egg content. I thought there'd be cheese or more flavor sprinkled on it but it was on the plainer side. I thought the texture was great and that it made a nice carb side dish for the sausage I got. My fiance got the Viennese bento box that came with pork, cucumber salad, purple cabbage, cabbage, a red spread, spaetzle and bread. I didn't try the pork, but I did try everything else in the bento box. I thought all of the pickled vegetables components were delicious and absolutely up my flavor alley. I'd highly recommend getting that dish for folks who want a larger variety of things to try. Their dessert menu looked great as well but I didn't get a chance to try it. I also liked the giant wooden house-like front door to the establishment. It was solid with no glass look-thru so it made me feel like I was entering into something unknown. I just heard that Dano recently passed away. They had a lot of photos in tribute to him in the front entrance table in the restaurant. RIP Dano. Unique European style food in a beautiful setting. We sat on outside patio with beautiful view of lake. Grassy lawn surrounded by trees gives nice, quiet setting. Although menu offers Vienna style food items, other parts are more American. I had cold fish plate with assorted offerings. Smoked trout was standout. You could easily share this for a appetizer among several people. Wife had catfish fillet with sides of corn relish and cabbage salad. They have a good wine list including many local wines. So, when our group of 14 was informed that we'd be wrapping up our wine tasting tour with Austrian food, I was a bit suspect. In my mind, I envisioned some sort of Bavarian, heavy animal protein laden food that would weigh the palate post delightful white wine tasting. Well, my first world ignorance was quickly righted upon entering this delightful establishment. Modern yet cozy. Sparse yet warm. Hip yet comfortable. Dano's is nothing like what I imagined it to be. With a group of 14, we already had a reservation with "Chef's Table" as our menu of choice. The "Chef's Table" is comprised of the most popular items on the menu, which is in such abundance that I will refrain from posting my dissertation-length review and only focus on the highlights. Served family style, we began with a selection of Roasted Red Pepper, Pumpkin Seed Oil and Horseradish Walnut spreads with baskets of bread. All equally delish, especially if served as a sandwich spread at a gourmet sandwich shop. The spreads were followed by a selection of appetizers. The stand outs were the Celery Root Remoulade, Salsify, Eggplant something-or-other and Large Bean Salad. At this point in the meal, I'm considering becoming a vegetarian again. Flavor, texture, balance...all being satiated at this point alone. Take a break to enjoy your wine outdoors while watching the sun set and return to the table to press on. Wiener Schnitzel. Yes please. Seasoned mashed potatoes. Licked the bowl. Braised Sauerkraut with Bacon. No brainer. Had a taste of the rest (sausages, chicken, pork shank) but kept going back for the others. And while you may not have room for dessert, just say YES to the strudel (apple/quince). My mates also loved the bread pudding, but it's a texture thing with me. Regardless, I love fresh whipped cream, so spoonfuls of that delightful fluffy filled in the cracks. Perfectly timed delivery of food. Delightful two hour dining experience. Lovely atmosphere. This was the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors even during a heavy rain storm that passed through. The deck faces the lake and the service could not be friendlier. Our server even helped us move our table in farther when the rain started. Drinks wise I thoroughly enjoyed both the finger lakes gin Negroni which was well poured and balanced, and the gin, grapefruit Austrian topped with white pepper and lemon rind and a dash of angostura bitters was refreshing and delicious. As for food, I adored the braised red cabbage side that had a good dose of vinegar, the cucumber dill salad which was lightly peppered and surprisingly flavorful and subtle, and of the dips I tried, the seasonal white bean veggie dip was flavorful and light, and the horseradish walnut dip was creamier but quite tasty with just a light amount of zing. read more

I really hesitated before leaving this review. I also understand that the original owner/ founder Dano, passed away unexpectedly 2 years ago and that certainly must have had an impact on the overall mood of the place. His wife who is an excellent pastry chef, runs the business now, and I assume she was the one who "greeted" us at the door. First of all i must say we had some really high expectations for this place and we Left disappointed. It wasn't the food. The food was very good even though I wish someone would have explained how the menu works. That leads me to the service which was mechanical and loveless.... No real greeting except with stern covid protocol instructions : hand sanitizer, scan the menu with your phone and.... wear a mask every time staff approaches the table (stressful to say the least , never had to do this before...) it ruined the experience completely. We felt like an afterthought, a nuisance even. Before being seated, we watch the hostess argue with someone on the phone for a good solid 5 minutes... finally we were seated and tried to put this out if our minds. Waitress was very friendly but clueless about the menu . It left us scrambling to make sense of it. We now understand how it works but it would have been great if someone had explained and made suggestions. Schnitzel was a bit lonely on its bare plate , spreads were delicious, pastries were scrumptious. Tip is a compulsory 20% added to the total... I don't quite know what to think of that... this experience could have been awesome if the service had been what one would expect in a restaurant that charges 20% gratuity... What a shame read more

We recently had dinner at Dano's Heuriger on Seneca Lake as we were visiting for a few nights and staying very close by. We did go on a recommendation but for me the experience was not that great. I think mainly it was due to the service we received. It started with our server suggesting we order our entrees with our appetizer, as he stated we might have to wait longer for it to be prepared if a big party came in. I guess they do suggest this as a rule during peak dining hours but it was the way it was presented and I thought we waited a fair amount of time anyway. We started with a bread basket with a horseradish and walnut spread, which was delicious. They have a number of great spreads to choose from and they all sounded good. I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel with Spatzle and Red Cabbage. Maybe it just wasn't my thing but I traded with my husband who had ordered a 1/4 chicken, which was more tasty to me. My husband also had 2 sides - sauerkraut with bacon and mashed potatoes that he liked very much. There is an outdoor seating area and a nice view of Seneca Lake but our experience was a bit disappointing. If you like Viennese cuisine then it is definitely a place to try. I generally have an Okay dining experience here, given that they cook all of their food and then leave it sitting under a heat lamp for the rest of the day. But, unfortunately I had a rather awful dining experience on a recent visit. I advise you to stay far, far away from the duck breast. Not only did it have no flavor, but I have never tasted a gamier piece of meat. (Not to mention the rice that came with, :( ) Although the Asparagus was good and my partners side of Mashed potatoes were very tasty. Maybe good luck next time? read more

The space is gorgeous. The menu is...confusing, and you should have an adventurous palate for some of it. We got the sausage soup, bread basket ($5? sheesh), bento box and the burger. Everything was pretty delicious but despite all of this we did leave a little hungry. I'd still recommend people check it out at least once, maybe for lunch instead of dinner as there weren't any real dinner items on the menu that we could tell. We were looking for a place near the wineries for dinner. Dan's was wonderful. We came on a Sunday evening so it wasn't too busy. Having spent three years in southern Germany we found the food delightfully authentic. The red cabbage in particular was amazing. The location is beautiful, even on a dark November night. My only regret was I was too full to get a dessert, which looked delicious. Maybe next time! read more

Danos is a great place to come and make a stop on your wine trail. Definitely a great place to come once, maybe twice, but not as your regular joint on the lake - there is definitely better. Hypes: - Ambiance - if you're there on a good day, with a light breeze, make sure you sit outside. The seneca lake view and open ground is what makes this place beautiful. It is nice inside too, but a bit echoey for me. - We ordered the fried trout - it was good, well cooked, but honestly nothing special. It came with a side of potatoes - as most their sides are cold, it was cold. Maybe I expected more. Gripes: - Bread - The bread was delicious, yet I am griping over the fact I had to pay 5 dollars for a variety of breads - which in most places come with the meal - Service - sllllllooooooowwww. Like really slow. The waitress took 15 min to come out and take our order after seating us...and every consequent time it seemed like slower and slower - Owner - Cold soup - ordered the soup and it was lightly warm - we asked for it to be warmed up again and in fact ordered another one of them (it was tasty) - and asked for it especially hot. This request, i think, upset and offended the chef/owner, who made it a point to yell across the patio in front of other guests saying that he had to literally boil the soup bc we wanted it so hot. Dont give me lukewarm soup that becomes cold outside, and dont yell at me in front of other guests. - Owner - not friendly - he was friendly to all the other tables (esp the ones ordering wine), and would sit with them and chit chat - like for a while. Now i'm not a chatter, i love when owners come over for a small talk , but please keep it to a minimum of 1 minute. You could tell the customers were a little like leave us be. On the other hand, i shouldnt complain, as he couldnt even come over to muffle a decent greet or hi to us. overall the food is good and solid, and i love supporting local businesses, but the owners attitude threw me off a bit. definitely come here though, bc it is one of the better in the area. - read more

A perfect way to close out the day. Dano's has it all - warm, inviting ambiance, unique and delicious dishes, great service, and exceptional views of Seneca Lake.
