I received a response using their online quote request right away. It was reasonable. I approved it online and was immediately contacted regarding scheduling. The staff was organized and efficient when scheduling my appointment. They let me know they were on their way, showed up on time, the technician was friendly and competent, and all the work got done perfectly for the price quoted. And I received all the documentation via email promptly afterwards. It was VERY EASY. It doesn't get better than that. Evidently Dano's family run business has been bought and brought under an umbrella with a bunch of other small, local septic companies. During our first septic emergency in over 20 years of using Dano's, we felt we'd called a service company that has forgotten that getting their customers back on line in an emergency is their #1 job. It took an emergency and some quick review reading online to find a small, independent company to show us real customer service! Dano's explained on the call the costs we'd incur from the $250+ service fee, hourly repair cost, $600 pumping charge on a tank they pumped 2years ago necessary for diagnosis, and the possible need for them to call in the electrician with another service fee, etc before anyone fixed anything. Confident we had an electrical issue if not 3 different ones, we called a highly 5-star reviewed guy who listened to our issues, diagnosed the probable root of the problems, and told us to call Aquarius Pump directly, adding that they'd prob use a sump pump and if in fact the tank needs pumping they'd call him. Easy-peasy. The next morning Aquarius had us able to use the system, but not fully fixed, and a couple days later with the new pump, floats, and alarm box, the emergency was over. No evidence of repairs to the lawn, and we knew who to call in the future, and recommend to others... and it won't be Dano's! PS The name I highly recommend is easy to remember if you live in KITSAP county and are looking for a SEPTIC company, lol. read more

Dano's billed me $3,057,60 for them to do the repairs and then they'd report back to the county. Scare tactics of a worst case scenario and the last time out they marked the septic as inefficient with county. I found Sweetwater! Shasta and Dave are awesome!! We just switched to Dano's from Nathan Clever. This review is specifically for Alan Strange, who came out to locate our lateral ends. While he was quickly able to locate six of the seven, one of them was missing. He worked for the entire day, keeping me appraised the whole time, until he finally located it two feet below the ground. It was far lower than the other ends, suggesting that it had never been properly inspected. Alan stuck it out, systematically (and correctly) figuring out where it should be, and then finally just doing the back-breaking work of trenching to find that it had been incorrectly installed. He then quoted me a reasonable price for extending the pipe and riser to the grass line and installed it on the same day. ORGINIAL POST: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! After spending over $2,000 on pumping, inspection and camera work, I had one simple request- WAIT 30 DAYS BEFORE SUBMITTING FINDINGS TO THE COUNTY! We were trying to work the problem. I called TWICE about this and was told both times, no problem, we will wait. They submitted it this morning. Because they did not respect my wishes to wait, I now have to pay over $20,000 through the county when we had a plan in place to avoid that and get it fixed independently. Go with a company that follows instructions, not absolutely ruins your life. Thanks for the 10 year debt I will now have due to your negligence. My realtor and contractor will be referring all other agents and all clients elsewhere, and notifying them all of this unprofessional behavior. EDIT: Here's how I would have expected Serena, the office manager I spoke to today to enter the conversation: yes, you're absolutely right, we did breach agreement, how can we make it right? Here's what happened: per her: "there was a human error that was not our fault. The result would have been the same no matter what" (no it would not have and she has no way of knowing that). "I have you on record asking not to submit it at all" (I told her yes I did say that, then asked what's the extension period, and we're getting off track). "Here's the history of your septic system" again no, we're getting off track. You admitted three times in this conversation you breached our verbal contract. You say the results would have been the same no matter what, but that's absolute garbage- no way she'd know that. You can call Dano's or just burn some money, at least by burning it Dano's won't benefit. After explaining to Dano's in detail the situation with our septic system we agree to pay them $575 to have 1200 gallons of sewage pumped from our septic system. The technician arrives the following day, snaps some pictures documenting things were exactly what we'd said they would be and makes a phone call, presumably to whoever he just sent the pictures. He then informs it will cost an additional $200 to pump the same 1200 gallons because it all of a sudden qualifies as an "emergency pump". I never got a clear answer as to why, but he further explained that for the additional $200 he would take up to 1800 gallons that day and another tech would return the following day to do an assessment and determine the issue, removing any additional sewage necessary for him to "get down in there" and see what the problem was. I agreed to the additional fee on these terms and after the technician checked to make sure the alarm was functioning, we discussed the fact the breaker hadn't been tripped and he personally turned the line of sight switch on and off, seeing that there was clearly power going to the unit. He drained the tanks and when I said, "should I shut the water off and not use any water tonight" he explained there was no way we could possibly fill the tank up and to go ahead and feel free to take showers or whatever. Adding that it would take a week for us to fill the tanks up. While we discussed my septic system and the problem I was having, he told me not to worry and that the guy they would be sending out the next day was "autistically gifted" at diagnosing septic issues, which I think was what he believed to be an amusing or descriptive way to say, he was very good at his job. Having 2 nephews on the spectrum I thought it was disrespectful and was little offended that he would make light of the burden being neurodiverse can have on a person and their family. When the tech showed up the next day without a pump truck I thought it was strange but if he didn't need it, why should I care. Unfortunately, as it turned out he did need it, because after he'd removed the tank lids we seen the tanks had filled back up in the 18 or so hours since they had been emptied the day before. He explained he wouldn't be able to conduct the assessment to determine what was wrong let alone do any repairs and that I would have to contact the office. He acknowledged knowing that he may have needed to pump the tanks if necessary to do the work we'd paid Dano's to be done, but he explained he'd been on another job that morning and it hadn't required one. He'd done nothing but unscrew the tank lids, which he didn't even bother to screw back on before leaving and I couldn't either because the screws were nowhere to be found. Without their technician having done nothing more than open the lids to the tank, Dano's singular response to this has been to send us an estimate for a pump replacement that we had to accept for them to come back out to the house. They couldn't possibly know if the pump was bad or not yet we had to agree to replace it to get them to complete the work we'd already paid for. They seemed to believe our house was leaking water from a toilet or maybe that I had chosen to bring grief upon myself by running the garden hose into the tanks for 5 hours. I recently had my septic system pumped and later repaired due to root damage, and while the office staff was frustrating to deal with, the workers themselves were outstanding. The initial septic pumping was done by two gentlemen, one of whom was in training. I really appreciated witnessing the teaching and learning dynamic between them. Both were professional and hardworking. A few weeks later, Alan came out to handle the repairs, which involved addressing root damage and installing risers. It was a tough job--he had to dig out the septic area and make the necessary repairs without disturbing the nearby propane tank, which the previous owner had unfortunately placed too close. It was impressive to watch Alan tackle what looked like a two-person job entirely on his own with skill and determination. The reason for my lower rating is due to ongoing issues with the office staff. It took four separate attempts before they successfully updated the address and name on file. Then, a week after they told me to watch for approval from the loan office regarding payment, I followed up--only to find out they hadn't even submitted the necessary paperwork. Despite the administrative frustrations, the field staff more than made up for it. I would use this company again based on the quality of the work and the dedication of the workers. read more

BUT IT DIDN'T END THERE... (part two) They then entered false and misleading tech notes onto the central septic system database (i didn't even know existed) stating the electrical system running to the pump wasn't functioning and had no power. They did this even though the first tech had turned the line of sight switch on and off himself, as we discussed whether I needed to turn the breaker off for him and the second tech didn't do anything but commit a health code violation while he was there by leaving my tank lids completely off, along with the inspection port cap. So where did they get the idea the electrical system wasn't functioning, how did they know I needed to pay them for a new pump and why would they make these things up? It seems as though their "bait and switch pricing slash upselling" wasn't enough for them and they felt the need to retaliate and harass a family in a difficult situation they had already compounded with their scandalous business model. When I was forced to contact Flohawks [amazing company] after being hustled and left in the lurch by Dano's. A very knowledgeable representative thoroughly discussed the problem at my house and the costs involved and mentioned to me while doing so part of the cost would be for an electrician to come out, which he believed was necessary because of Dano's efforts to cause my family duress and money. It seems they weren't happy with the damage they had already done. Luckily, unlike Dano's, Flohawks isn't a disreputable company and when the first technician showed up at my house the following day, he quickly determined there wasn't an electrical issue at the box and called off the electrician. As it turns out, it was nothing more than a bad float. Apparently, it's an old industry practice to install two floats in series and one was bad. They simply removed the bad float and the system is functioning perfectly. The tanks haven't filled back up, no water is coming from the house and all is well. Where the water came from I couldn't tell you, I'm not a septic scientist. The only thing I can imagine, is that the guy who drained the tank didn't actually remove the water he claimed to have but there's no way for me to know. Dano's was trying to force me to agree to allowing them to install a pump I didn't need and they couldn't have known I would. Effectively telling me they wouldn't perform the work I'd already paid them for unless I paid them to do unnecessary repairs. So, now I'm just waiting for Justin to post one of his condescending responses to this review, I see on the "many" other ones sharing similarly horrible experiences. Rather than go back and forth now, I'll just say "all money ain't good money" my friend. I was a sub-contractor for 20 plus years and bad review is expensive. I made every effort to reach out to Dano's, sending several emails and gave you every opportunity to make this right. Somehow you or a manager are never available for customers but not very far away from the people who lie on the phone. At this point all I can do is contact the contractors board, the BBB and health dept. to file a complaint. Then shoot an email to the Washington State District Attorney to see what else can be done to prevent this from happening to another family in distress. Whose office is surprisingly responsive, to even the slightest mention of consumer fraud. From what I understand Dano's isn't the family company they advertise as after being bought out. So, I think it's might help to contact the corporate office of their parent company every week until I get a response, if there anything like Dano's I might need to be persistent. It's important to find out whether they know the company they bought is conducting themselves accordingly, maybe they don't know and we can stop this that way. Up until two years ago, they were excellent. Today I found out they were bought out about 2 years ago by a large corporation and are no longer locally owned. They are now all about the money. They charged $800 for a camera inspection of our drain field that was ineffective because they couldn't get further than 5-10 feet before they ran into a T junction and couldn't get past it. read more

Similar to other reviews, we found their business to be extremely lacking in customer service and their estimates for service are obscenely overpriced. They quoted $1100 to replace a $300 pump that required less than 10 minutes of installation. They refused to provide an itemized cost breakdown of parts/labor and refused to return calls/emails regarding the service. When finally reached, the representative named Serena Kelly was abrupt and rude. I would strongly discourage utilizing this business and we have reported them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Dano's bought out NW Septic. Their office person Serena is extremely rude. Doesn't now what a RV tank vs an external tank is. NW had serviced my tank for a year. Serena scheduled me and on the day of pumping they called bc the driver told them he didn't have the fittings to do my job. No fittings were required. It boiled down to the $200 I would spend every 10 weeks wasn't worth their trouble. Randy from Randy's septic pumping informed me he would be happy to service my requests anytime I call. read more

Be Wary of Dano's Septic Service Maintenance Troubleshooting and Get a Second Opinion While my wife and I were out of the country our septic alarm sounded. We have our service contract with Danos so they sent a service technician, Kevin, to troubleshoot the alarm which was identified as a high level alarm. The technician sent a report that the pump needed to be replaced, and recommended pumping down the septic tank and replacing the pump and the J-box (electrical junction box) for a total of $4013.10 that included $2175.00 to replace the existing pump with a Liberty 280 Effluent Pump that could be purchased from Home Depot for $316.67. Quite shocking, approximately $1800 in labor charges for a job that would take no more than a couple hours. As I had house guests arriving in a few days I did not have time to get a second opinion, but when I inquired if the technician verified the electrical connections to the pump I was told they did not know and if I wanted an electrician to troubleshoot the pump it would be an additional $400. Since the septic tank was pumped down just a few weeks before the alarm condition I suspected the pumper hose may have contacted the J-box or cables creating a loose connection. I insisted Danos get an electrician to verify the fault was electrical or not. As expected, the electrician found a loose connection, repaired it and the system was restored to operation, for a total of $392.70 a far cry from the initial estimate of $4013.10. A credible technician should know that anytime an electrically powered device is not operating he/she needs to check the electrical connections all the way to the device starting with the circuit breaker, power switch or relay. This was not done with the initial inspection. If I had accepted the initial recommendations I would have been charged over $4000 for an unnecessary repair. As a result of this occurrence, I will not be renewing my maintenance contract with Danos as I cannot trust their troubleshooting technicians. read more

I rarely post a negative review but my experience calls for one. We signed a contract to continue inspection for a home we recently purchased. The service contract was with Northwest Septic. When we signed, nobody bothered to tell us the business had been acquired by Dano's. We found this out to our chagrin when Dano's inspectors weren't able to locate the vacuum valves on our system. The excuse was "well we've acquired a business and the guys who used to do the work on your home are gone". Wow!! I thought I'd heard them all but this was news. This past Saturday our spetic system appeared to be backed up. Bear in mind, we had spent roughly $2000.00 last November to have our floats replaced along with the wiring and repairs to the drain field piping. We had hired Dano's for this past repari work so my first call was to them early Saturday morning. After reaching their dispatch and arranging for the minimum of $375.00 to be paid for the trouble-shooting, we waited until Tyler showed up around 3:00. He immediately was able to identify that our filter was clogged. We were unaware that we had a filter and that it needed to be cleaned on a regualr basis...this being after 24 years in the house and not a single septic service frim ever letting us know this existed. Tyler had to create a "tool" on site to be able to get to the filter as it is roughly 5' below grade. He then proceeded to attach the retrieval tool to the existing filter and size it such that now all we have to do is open the cleanout, grab the tool handle and pull up. Absolutely ingenious. He completed his work in 45 minutes or so and we were off an running again. Very thankful for Tyler and for him thinking on his feet...hats off to Dano's for hiring this young man/ read more

We had a backup from our septic system into the house. Dano's was the only service that answered their phone. They were very responsive it my concerns and worked us into the emergency schedule. The techincian "Corbin" (sp) was extremely professional and he took the time to tell me everything I needed to know about our system. We are elderly and didn't pre-dig - that was not a problem for Corbin he just grabbed his shovel and had in uncovered in no time - it would have taken my husband and I days to accompish. Danos has really changed since Chuck Dano sold the business. I've used them for 20 years with no issues. This past summer I had them come pump the tank. My son was there when they arrived and he let them into the back yard to do the job. They took it upon themselves to inspect my tank and wrote up a finding that my intake baffle was missing....yes, missing. I went and dug up where the intake baffle should be.. ....and amazingly it was still there. The wire lid handle had rusted away, but that's normal due to the elements. A week later Danos called me to schedule a intake baffle replacement job. When I tried to explain to the Danos lady, she flipped me crap about how professional their drivers are and how they never make mistakes. Her monolog went on for over 5 minutes in an attempt to justify why they needed to come fix something that they got WRONG to begin with. She finished her rant that Danos would be sending the erroneous inspection report to county. So my warning to you is that Danos appears to be more focused on "making work and profits " rather than doing the work you pay them for. Stay away, there's better companies available. read more

Absolutely recommend them. I am preparing to sell my home and as anyone who has done that knows it gets very expensive very fast. I called on a Wednesday and had an appointment on that Friday. The manager was very friendly and answered all my questions with patience and respect. She looked up my address and I was quoted $375 for my 1100 gallon tank and a possible though unlikely other $300 for the pump tank my system has. This made me very concerned for the total amount I would end up needing to pay. They offer a Military Discount and will work with you if you need to pay them out of closing as long as it is not longer than 30 days. They were also willing to allow me to pay $350 on site and the rest the following payday. Because of her professionalism and kindness I decided to go through with the appointment and see where I would end up. When the technician arrived he was very courteous and asked me if he could pull into my neighbors drive way as it is far closer to my system than my own drive way. I had already spoken to my neighbor and we were good to go there. The tech was respectful of his property and we had no issues. I was surprised at how fast he was able to complete the job. I stayed with him and had a conversation through out and was amazed at how much my system did need the pumping. The good news was only my effluent tank needed to be pumped and so I would be able to save some money. He took my credit card information and gave me the receipt.
