We checked this place out for a pre-valentines dinner. With red lights & hearts in the windows they were ready to go. This small restaurant run by husband and wife is a byob. They have monthly menu's, gourmet donuts in the mornings, brunch on the weekends and dinner pre-fix menu. Chef Andrew waited on and served us, was a super fun and interesting guy. His wife Shannon was in an open kitchen with one other staff member doing dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, from the homemade focaccia to the pistachio chocolate bar. This was a small place that served donuts in the morning and had a prix fixe meal at night. I was there for the donuts and the service could not have been any better. We were waiting for one donut that was not ready yet and one of the owners offered us a complimentary coffee and some of their chocolate chip cookies as we waited, which was genuinely nice. We ordered four donuts. Apple Cider Donut ($4) - This was very tasty and light. There was a ton of cinnamon sugar present, but it balanced the apple cider tremendously. Sugared Raspberry Jam ($4.50) - This was somehow a vegan donut, but there was no way of knowing from the taste. There was a homemade raspberry jam filling and raspberry sugar on top. This was my favorite donut tried. There was a crispy outer edge with plenty of filling present. The raspberry was great, and the raspberry sugar was a nice touch too. Strawberry Beet ($4) - Again, this was a vegan donut. There was a berry beet glaze and freeze-dried strawberries, with sprinkles. Once more, this was a light donut, and the beet seemed to enhance the overall strawberry flavor. It was tasty. Corn Brulee ($4.50) - This was a monthly special I believe. There was the burnt sugar on top of the donut and a corn custard filling. Surprisingly, this was light even with the amount of filling. This was very interesting and unique. The burnt sugar on top was good and I actually wanted more present on this. The corn custard was just so different. I could not tell if I enjoyed it or not. Chocolate Chip Cookie - This complimentary treat was thin and weightless. There was a slight crisp with plenty of chocolate chips. I have been going to D'Serve since they opened and boy oh boy is it a hidden gem located directly on Main Street in Flemington. This is a New Jersey donut haven. Initially they only rolled out donuts and have since added to add breakfast items. Thus far, I have only been impressed with their vegan and non vegan donut options. The crew are personable and it most certainly is a small private local business where you will see the owners who are husband and wife in the kitchen or providing immaculately customer service. Be courteous and be gracious to as this is not a factory and it may take some time for quality service. These are definitely gourmet donuts for the price! And are they worth it? For me, it depends. I tried the vegan vanilla donut and found it to be tasteless. The apple cider donut was dry. However...the Jersey Cream donut was by FAR the best. There are actual vanilla beans in the cream inside! Absolutely decadent and some friends said it was the best donut they ever had. What a gem of an addition to Main Street in Flemington! Went there today with my mom and husband. Donuts are incredible, beverages were also amazing, ambiance is homey, and modern, but I think the best part was the staff. What a passionate and talented group of people to add in to the Flemington community. Wound up spending a lot of time talking with one of the owners, Andrew, and he is just the best! He has such a passion for what he does and him, his wife, and his staff have gone above and beyond to take into account every fine detail about the business. You won't be disappointed if you stop in here. Definitely expecting great things out of this place and excited to see where it goes as they're working on getting a dinner service together starting in September and will also work towards offering lunch too! Even as first time customers, we were treated like lifelong friends and family along with everyone that walked in the door. Donuts were awesome. Thoughtfully crafted, not overly sweet, high quality, and taking into account what the local area has to offer. The seasonal corn brûlée donut made with locally sourced sweet corn was delicious! This morning was their first brunch service. It did not disappoint. Food was delicious and so many choices that should please everyone. A playlist that kept everyone entertained, even the children were dancing. Andrew, Shannon, Amanda and the rest of the staff were lovely and attentive to the needs of the customers. I've had the pleasure of eating food prepared by Andrew and Shannon for several years now. From their Asados to their tacos, to their dessert popups and private events, I am extremely proud of Andrew, Shannon, and their team for all of the hard work they've put in. This restaurant was years in the making and they absolutely nailed it. Their hard work has paid off--go visit! The service was top notch--attentive and timely without being intrusive. Each course arrived with perfect pacing, allowing us to savor every bite. The current format is a four-course tasting menu, with two thoughtful options per course (one vegetarian and one not). The menu is smartly designed, descriptions are clear, and execution is impeccable. The space itself is small--in the best possible way. It allows the chefs to give every plate attention, and nothing we received felt rushed. Their choices in serviceware--dishes, bowls, presentation--felt deliberate and elevated the experience. By day, D'Serve operates as a donut shop (and Shannon's pastry skills shine brightly there--every flavor we've tried has been fantastic). By night, the space transforms into an intimate dining room with an open kitchen where you can watch the team at work. It's a fantastic atmosphere. Despite this being only their second dinner service, the team delivered an incredible experience. Any small hiccups were extremely minor. Having eaten at Michelin-starred restaurants in NYC, LA, Paris, Amsterdam, and Brussels, I can say the food at D'Serve is genuinely on par with some of those meals. Flavors were layered and balanced, seasoning was spot-on, plating was refined yet approachable. Andrew and Shannon also source most ingredients locally and seasonally--last night's menu showcased summer corn, and future iterations will feature squash and fall spices. Here's what we enjoyed: * Amuse-bouche: A tomatillo gazpacho with watermelon and cucumber. Refreshing, balanced, and fun to eat--no spoon, just slurp it up! * First course: Snapper crudo with a delicate touch of jalapeño--clean, fresh, delicious. Watermelon salad with corn and a sesame crunch--bright and playful. Both strong, with the crudo slightly edging out. * Second course: Summer squash with tomatillo mole--simple vegetable transformed into a crisp, tender, flavorful dish. Homemade pasta--perfectly al dente with a bright, delicious sauce. We also tried a shellfish-free version of their sausage dish--the beans and sauce were outstanding, the kind of sauce you want to mop up with bread. Impossible to pick a winner here, both plates were excellent. * Mains: Fried green tomato with pepper jelly--sweet, tangy, crunchy. Chicken roulade with spaetzle and a jus made from Asado bones--smoky, savory, complex. I loved the chicken for its jus; my wife preferred the tomatoes. Both were top-notch. * Desserts: Chocolate ganache cake--moist, rich, classic. Cornbread with corn custard and Parmesan ice cream--mind-blowing. Moist cornbread, custard that tasted like the best Jersey corn, and that Parmesan ice cream was unique and brilliant. Truly unforgettable. Overall, the meal was exceptional. The service was a fixed price menu. He told us about each course before he served it and gave us the option to be served the courses at different times. I went there with my son. The owners were super nice and accommodating. They even got me a "naked" donut for a lower sugar option. The donuts and iced coffee were excellent.
