This was our first visit to Dan's in the former Seitz bar. My husband's German burger was huge. He liked it. I had the tomato basil soup. It wasn't bad but not the best either. Definitely a solid place for a burger and beer. Great food options and specials. Had their burger, fry and beer special for $16. And the beer was ANY draft beer. I had the Edmund Fitzgerald partly for the 50th anniversary but mostly because it's a great beer. Burger was great. Fries were generous. Food came out incredibly quick. Service was great. The burger and Chicken Caesar wrap were good. The shoestring fries were worth the upgrade charge. The service was friendly but slow (they were clearly understaffed at the front of the house.) What annoyed the heck out of me was the UNADVERTISED 3% service charge that appeared on our bill. I don't know why some restaurants do this, had they increased the entree prices by fifty cents (the same effective amount as the UNADVERTISED Service Charge) I would have been totally fine. If the Service Charge had been prominently featured on the menu I would have forgiven them. But to sneak it in at the end as they did is INEXCUSABLE. And no it wasn't a credit card surcharge as we had not yet identified how we were going to pay. Sadly, this serious faux pas gives me pause before I can recommend this place or come back. read more

The staff was very helpful and attentive. We were seated promptly and our drink order was taken. We opted for water but they had a full bar and served pop as well. Expect to spend $11-16 on a burger or sandwich. It comes with chips but you can upgrade to fries or sweet potato fries as well. We started with the loaded tots. A shareable portion was brought to our table in a decent amount of time. The garlic aoli was quite tasty. All of our burger were cooked to order and tasty. Peanut butter on a burger doesn't sound like it would work but it did. The saltiness of the other items somehow complimented the peanut butter. It was quite messy to eat and required a bunch of napkins but thankfully the napkin dispenser is right on the table. The garlic Bleu Cheese burger was good. Just the right amount of sauteed onions and blue cheese were served atop the burger patty. The Chelsea Burger is sauteed peppers, mushrooms and onions with cheese and it was very good. The amount of toppings is generous but does make for a messy burger so have those napkins nearby. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We will return as the restaurant was clean and food was good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Street parking is available. There are two unisex restrooms and one with a changing table. read more

Came for lunch after some Black Friday shopping and the meal was awesome! Elevated pub food here with daily specials. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The pub is awaiting their liquor license so I can imagine the place will be hopping after that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the potato soup (daily special) 5/5 and chili 4/5. We both had their famous smash burgers - great caramelization on the burgers. Our server Jen was so nice and professional. They seemed to be doing a brisk take out business today. The old Seitz location Chelsea Burgor didn't survive, but Dans is giving it a go! so far food is amazing -service is great -[[HIGHLIGHT]]environment is hopping[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] ! this review written after only a few days of opening they are working on their beer and liquor license but the food is well worth a visit read more

bartender was less than attentive even though we were the only couple in the joint. we sat at the bar & several employees were sitting, eating, chatting with her while we sat with empty glasses...for a long time! we decided not to have dinner there based on the poor performance & most like won't go back! Kinda disappointed in this place . Smash burgers weren't. Just two patties with cheese and grilled onion. The burgers were not crusty on the outside, and were overcooked. Husband ordered the peanut butter burger, it was also disappointing. The bacon was limp and the peanut butter missed the mark. The burgers were quick and tasty, same with the fries. All the staff we talked with were friendly and accommodating for us and our little one. Since dans downtown tavern Chelsea has been open they have served hundreds of burgers in the last 3 weeks and not one has been returned. Dan has owned downtown saline for almost 30 years where I worked for him there. I feel we have been set up with these posts and pictures and anyone who reads this please come try his delish burgers at either location for yourself and if you have a bad experience call him personally and he will make it right......thank you read more

I really just didn't care for the burger. It was not a true smash burger in any aspect. The original Chelsea burgers were 10x better. I really wanted to like this place but I won't justify those prices unless the burger is taken up a notch. read more

I was here at this establishment when I was waiting for my Togo order and I noticed a bug crawling over where they kept all of the excess food. What really made me sick to my stomach was when I noticed a cook (female) flicking the bug off without giving it a second thought she went back to cooking food. Along with all of this I had noticed her previously smoking a cigarette. When she came back inside I did not see her wash her hands or do any sort of sanitary action, she went right back to cooking without using gloves. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place seems unsanitary and the employees need to learn how to be more clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She was touching the burgers, chips, fries and whatever else she was cooking. I can't imagine what they are making the employees do downstairs where they prep everything. Dan is running this place without knowing whether his employees are being clean. I will not be coming back to this location and I suggest people watch how the cook handles the food being made. read more
