It's a crow in the name and it's pretty dark on the inside with a nice patio area outside that's covered and shaded. The food is outstanding honestly, the burger was fantastic. One of the better ones I've ever had plus half pound of meat is very generous. I thought that the shrimp that I had was also fantastic The drinks are great, but I do wish that they would fill them up and change the measurements accordingly (perception of a full glass) The only thing I don't think is appropriate is the pricing. It has a horrible taste and leaves behind a bad taste even after eating. The ice made my husbands tea taste bad. I had a soda and could taste the bad water after the ice started melting. What a find! I've never been to this part of Michigan and I used my app to find this place. Immediately my black little heart was draw to the photos of the environment so I thought, "Why not?" Loved our first visit here! The food was delicious...we both ordered burgers (Good Lovin' and Sting Me), cooked perfectly with plentiful toppings. The truffle fries were also very tasty. We finished with Hawaiian Bread Pudding, which was outstanding, highly recommend! Our only minor complaint related to a cocktail - while the Old Fashioned was tasty, a little disappointing that the glass was only half full, not a great value for the price. (I ordered one of the Valentine special cocktails, which was served in a larger glass filled to the rim for the same price...this one was fantastic!) Came here a few months ago for the first time and was so happy to do so! Friends of ours introduced us to the Chelsea area and brought it here for diner one night and we loved it! Their burgers are amazing! And the cocktails are really up to snuff! Will definitely come back again soon! Also their sushi rolls are fresh and delicious. Burgers and sushi, what a great combo! Fun sushi roll options. The Jealousy roll had green apples in it, with tempura and avocado. Really lovely! I enjoyed the rainbow roll and some nigiri too. You can upgrade the burgers to Wagyu or bison. The bison burger was well made and huge! The truffle fries were light and crispy. Excellent bread pudding, and the carrot cake was divine with cream cheese frosting. All deserts are home made there. And very large slices! Delicious coffee in a fresh press. Excellent cocktail menu. We should have left when we looked at the menu. Prices are ridiculous, they don't make sense. The rolls fell apart while we tried to eat them, poorly rolled, bad sushi rice. Our daughter's side of rice came out cold. When I ask for a bowl of rice, I expect hot rice like literally any other restaurant ever. What sushi place doesn't have a rice cooker to keep it warm? The Grateful Crow has a VERY large menu. Full sushi and nigiri menu, but also non-seafood entrees. Specialty fun cocktails too! Appetizers- we knew we were going to order sushi, so I needed to start with a miso soup. Can't really go wrong that. We also enjoyed an order of the truffle fries. Sushi- La Jolla, Spicy Tuna, California. The best roll was definitely La Jolla. Shrimp tempura on the inside with a different fish on top of each roll. The Grateful Crow is a lovely restaurant in cute, little downtown Chelsea. Matt was our mixologist/bartender. He was very friendly, informative, and made delicious, strong cocktails. The food was pretty good. It tried my bf's Sting Me Burger and it was great. Juicy, perfectly cooked, and flavorful. I had the crispy salmon. It was good, but why serve crispy salmon in a broth?? This was a nice surprise. The ambiance is gothic and dark. Illuminated by candles and really cool lamps. Painted walls with fun images of crows and interesting decorations. Both indoor and outdoor seating. I sat indoors. The service was a little slow. Our server had tables both inside and outside. She was able to stay on top of our needs, but looked like she was running a lot. The food was the best surprise. If they have Watermelon Gazpacho, try it! So worth the entire visit. We stopped in here today for a late lunch. My friend ordered a burger which looked delicious. It was served with a generous portion of french fries. I ordered the salmon. It was prepared well and cooked perfectly. It was served with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. My only complaint was the entire dish was served in a broth like liquid and the asparagus and potatoes were floating in the broth. I would've preferred a sauce over the salmon so the asparagus and potatoes weren't floating in the broth. I nudged my potatoes up onto the rim of the plate to give them a chance to dry off a little before eating them. Other than that I thought the meal was really good. As for the ambience, this restaurant has a really nice vibe. There is a long bar with a huge liquor selection. Very nice lighting. It's a very clean res. And our server was very attentive, helpful and pleasant. There is a large patio area facing west for those who would like to sit outside when the weather permits. This restaurant just opened in October 2020 and I hope it really makes a go. It's a nice addition to the downtown scene. read more

Grateful Crow is a new restaurant that had the courage to open amidst the pandemic, and that has proved to be a welcome addition to the local dining scene. Tucked away in downtown Chelsea, it's a little gem to discover and try out. My husband and I have been twice -- once right after they opened, and more recently this past week. I'll focus on the recent visit for this review. After making a reservation, we arrived at the appointed time and were promptly able to be seated. After perusing the menu, I had an idea of what I wanted to order. But first, drinks. Needing a mocktail but not seeing one on the menu, I asked my server what was available. They said the bartender could whip something up, and I ended up with a grapefruit mocktail. It was nice to have something that felt fancy, if a little weak on flavor (it's hard to make a good mocktail, so I'll give them a pass). For my entree, I couldn't resist splurging on the sea bass. It arrived looking beautiful, and the taste was even more impressive. Buttery fish on a bed of mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms, and all of that topped with some crisp greens for a good contest of textures. It's not something that I usually order at restaurants (and I think the last time I came here I got a burger), but I'm glad I chose it this evening. If it's on the menu when you visit, don't hesitate to order it -- you won't regret it! Comfortably satisfied, we wrapped up our meal and headed back into the spring evening.
