I wouldn't have thought of visiting a steak house out here, but this place surprised me for a good balance of quality and price. I'd been here several times over the years and never had a bad meal. I would hesitate to call these steaks on par with a fancy steak joint, but I'm confident in saying they are consistently good. The ambiance is very laid back, old school and family friendly. The side dishes are OK; just a filler so you don't overdose on meat. Not complaining about that, but steak is definitely the star here.

This place is a hidden gem! Take the drive out of downtown Luray and you won't be disappointed. Steaks are succulent, juicy and seared to perfection Besides, you can only eat so much pizza and dang near every restaurant in Luray is closed by 7 or 8.

Went to Dan's Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday night. Ordered the prime rib special. Was absolutely the best prime rib I have ever had! Huge portion tender and delicious. The restaurant itself may not have ambience, the wait staff a bit overworked ,but friendly ,nice and the meal well worth the trip!

Loved this low key steakhouse! We were traveling through the area between hiking and visiting the Civil War museum and happened upon this restaurant. They have great appetizers, tasty steaks and sides and scrumptious desserts! We had the sirloin, NY strip, Caesar salad and mac 'n cheese. They also have a small bar where they were hosting trivia. Fun little spot!

Very friendly service. Steak was filled with fat and gristle, very difficult to eat. Way over priced for what you get.

Steak was fat and tough, crab legs tasteless & watery. Far from reputation it once had. Won't return.

Hit this place up on Memorial Day weekend and really liked it. We had a ribeye and prime rib which were outstanding. Friendly staff too!

If you're planning to come during peak dinner hours, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation because it started filling up quickly. We had spent the day hiking, so we were dressed much more casually than many of the other diners. The restaurant has a more upscale feel, but no one made us feel out of place. The staff was welcoming, seated us immediately, and made us feel comfortable from the start. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the cocktails were well made. The food was the real highlight. The burgers were cooked perfectly, the beef tasted fresh and flavorful, and the garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. We also really enjoyed the soup of the day and the hummus of the day. The only thing that didn't completely wow us was the steak. It certainly wasn't bad but we just happen to be very particular when it comes to steak. Overall, this was an excellent meal with great service in a welcoming atmosphere. We'd happily return the next time we're in Luray.

Came here on a recommendation and found it to be great…read more The whole place is a somewhat standard American-fare bar. My wife was very excited to try the pierogi appetizer. It was delicious with some onions and what tasted like bacon fat on it. The kiddos got items from the kids' menu - a simple pasta and a small pizza. There was a special while we visited (Oktoberfest, I think) that had some fantastic German items, including a killer schnitzel with sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes. It was fantastic. I got a couple of the on-tap beers and enjoyed them much. There is a respectable cocktail menu (any of them can be made mocktail if you want). One thing I appreciated very much was how family-friendly the place is. Our waitress saw Child #3 starting to melt down and brought him over some toys to play with, commenting that she had kids of her own. Indeed, in the corner, there is a whole table full of toys for kids to play with. Even the bathroom has a full changing table setup, which is way better than those wall changing tables. Overall, a great experience.

I really wanted to have a good experience here. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case…read more I planned a day trip in Luray, VA for my husband's birthday. It was extremely hot and humid that day, and we have a baby, so we opted for an indoor restaurant with air conditioning. I came across Ollie Cat Cafe in a Google search. The online menu seemed to offer something for both of us to eat so we decided to give it a try. The parking was adequate and was a short walk from the car to the front door, which was helpful since I was carrying my baby in her car seat. When we walked in, the restaurant was about half full of patrons eating their meals. The staff was buzzing about as well. While we were standing by the front door, still holding my baby in her car seat, a staff member made eye contact with us and said "that looks heavy! I'll be with you in just a moment." She never came back to seat us. A second staff member looked at us and proceeded to keep working. While we were waiting and watching the room, a customer approached her and asked for their bill because they had been waiting so long. The waitress frantically said yes, and then walked over to the bar to get drinks for a different table. The drink station was next to where we were still standing. The same staff member proceeded to complain to my husband and I about how hectic it was and how they couldn't keep up to the point where she started bad-mouthing her own team. (The restaurant was only half full). She then directed a younger staff member at the drink station to seat us. He never even looked our way. After 15 minutes of watching the chaos, my husband, baby, and I left and went to Blue's Dog Bowl instead - where the food and staff were outstanding! So I'm sorry that I couldn't write a more thorough review of Ollie Cat Cafe, but until their staff learn how to wait tables and operate efficiently, this restaurant is going to suffer.
