Came here on a recommendation and found it to be great. The whole place is a somewhat standard American-fare bar. My wife was very excited to try the pierogi appetizer. It was delicious with some onions and what tasted like bacon fat on it. The kiddos got items from the kids' menu - a simple pasta and a small pizza. There was a special while we visited (Oktoberfest, I think) that had some fantastic German items, including a killer schnitzel with sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes. It was fantastic. I got a couple of the on-tap beers and enjoyed them much. There is a respectable cocktail menu (any of them can be made mocktail if you want). One thing I appreciated very much was how family-friendly the place is. Our waitress saw Child #3 starting to melt down and brought him over some toys to play with, commenting that she had kids of her own. Indeed, in the corner, there is a whole table full of toys for kids to play with. Even the bathroom has a full changing table setup, which is way better than those wall changing tables. This place was horrible from service to the food. Was a nice spot for the little kids to play, but that's it. First one of the waters tasted funny like soap. I flagged someone over to ask for new water (for the record there was no one dining here and plenty of workers) and the lady stared at me and after 15 seconds said can you repeat that. I said the water tasted funny can we please get a new one. She said, "the water tastes funny here." The server brought us the mozzarella sticks and then said do you want any plates. (Mind you there were 5 of us) and I said he's. He said, "how many" I said for everyone???? I'm not sure why you have to ask. He also later asked us if we wanted a refill... of water. I mean... can't you just refill it without asking? Then our mozzarella sticks came out and one didn't have any cheese in it. To be fair I flagged the server down and I said get I get one and showed him the empty cheese. And he said, "with cheese in it?" They brought back two which was good. The food arrived for the kids first and adults waited like 5 more minutes. So everyone was eating at different times. The burger my kiddo got he said tasted funny and the other older kid said it had a weird aftertaste. I said I didn't want to pay for something that tasted funny. The guy went back to the kitchen and came back and said they were cooking another one. I was frustrated because I didn't want another one. I said I didn't want to PAY for something inedible. He said, "well we can't do that because our boss isn't here." And I was like okay fine just give us the check, it will just be reflected in my review. He came back after like 5 minutes and said his manager said they could take it off. Okay so now the portions were pathetic. The Philly cheese steaks were on hot dog buns and it wasn't even fully filled. The kiddo said the pasta was good. It did look decent. I feel like it's hard to screw up pasta though. The chicken parm sandwich barely had any cheese or sauce on it and was on a flimsy hamburger bun. I'm pretty embarrassed I spent $75 for such a pathetic dining experience. I was really pulling for this one, but it just fell flat where it really counted. The local neighborhood vibe was there, the eclectic decors was really on point and I loved the vintage booths. The waitstaff were very friendly, and the place was really well kept clean and presentable. The down side... right off the jump, the water they served us was not drinkable. I'm not being pretentious here, I was legitimately concerned after taking that first sip if I was going to spend the night over the toilet. I did not take another sip, and told my family not to ether. The food took a while, and I don't mind a wait for good eats. But the other reviews on here were right, it was tasteless and seemed to be served right out of a frozen food box. I had the chicken parm sandwich, the scolding hot marinara sauce was burnt by every measure, and the fried chicken patty was still cold in the middle. To the restaurants credit, they did not mess up the fry's. My family's meals were similar, with my wife having the cordon blue with similar results in the fried chicken, and my daughter who loves chicken fingers, not eating more than the one. Overall I think this place has the potential to be good, but they need to fix their kitchen before they do anything else. read more

I stopped in for dinner , after the Luray Caverns and Cooters, yesterday, June 13, 2026, and felt that warm, homy feeling as soon as I walked in. Shannon, the owner and I chatted for quite awhile on how "Ollie Cat Cafe" came to be. The restaurant location on how many different things it was previous was quite fascinating, soda shop, pharmacy, opera house. Loved, the vibe and feel from this small town cafe. The atmosphere, passion, and dedication of Shannon , as one of the owners is something; I personally haven't seen in quite awhile in a restaurant. I ordered the Panko seasoned flounder sandwich that was outstanding, delicious, light and flavorful. The sandwich came with the side, and was delighted that they were fresh vegetable medley with the perfect amount of seasoning. Wonderful staff and dining experience. Looking for a quick dinner in the area. Ollie cat cafe was near by. Walked in and waitress pointed to a table to sit at. She was busy caring for several tables on her own. The Resturant had a large bar area, a few booths and several tables. The decor was super busy for my taste. After a few minutes another waiter came up to take our order. I ordered a salad with fried chicken. Salad was very fresh, chicken was very thin and not very flavorful. My husband ordered two chicken breast dinner with baked potato and side salad. Service was extremely slow. I came in to place a small takeout order - one sandwich and some wings - but left after 75+ minutes of waiting. I never got to try the food, but I experienced a lack of care from the staff, who kept telling me every time I checked in that the food was just five minutes from coming out: "they're boxing it up right now." The restaurant was not that busy - with only two parties seated when we entered. As I waited, two or three additional tables sat down, many of which had received their food before I left. While waiting, I noticed that we were the only people of color in the restaurant, which may have impacted how the kitchen prioritized meals. Overall, extremely slow, and I would not recommend coming here if you want a quick bite -- you'll be in for a long wait. read more

Sadly, everything Bethelhem T described is what we experienced last week on our visit to the cafe when we passed through the area. The servers were lovely and were attentive, despite how busy it was. They must get overflow business from the beer garden because I don't know how this place survives. I know that we were overflow business. My son ordered fish n chips, I ordered panko crusted cod in a wrap. We both received the exact same fish that appeared to be from a bag of frozen Kirkland frozen fish sticks (I know, because I buy them there). My wrap did not have lettuce or tomato as described in the menu. My son found a hair in his tartar sauce. Side salads looked like bagged salad. The rest of our party also experienced tasteless items (pasta, country fried steak, etc.) and none of us finished our meals. Water was as Bethelhem described -- very metallic. We stopped by Ollie Cat while in Luray and decided to try the hot dog platter and the grilled chicken. Overall, it was an okay experience, nothing outstanding but not terrible either. The hot dog platter came with two dogs and sides, and while it was decent, it didn't really stand out compared to other local spots. The grilled chicken was cooked fine, but the flavor was a little on the plain side. Portions were fair, and the service was friendly, and very quick food was done in 15 minutes! The atmosphere is casual and laid-back, which works well if you're looking for a no-frills meal in town. That said, for the price, we were hoping for food with a little more flavor and consistency. We ordered the potato skins, which were very large. They were scooped out like typical potato skins. They lacked flavor overall and were just ok. My husband tried the chicken sandwich which he thought was good. I tried the Cajun chicken pasta which the portion was huge. There is absolutely no way anyone could finish. However, although a lot of food, it was lacking anything flavorful. The restaurant when we stopped in was nearly empty on a Sunday evening during dinner time. the restaurant itself was a nice place. clean area and bathroom. the food was iffy. i got the mac n cheese and cheddar bacon fries. i also had some pirogies. the mac n cheese was very good but the cheddar bacon fries on the other hand didn't taste great to me. another member from my party loved them though. the pirogies were very good as well. the outsides of the pirogies were hard but they must have been air fried. the service was decent for a small amount of people working. they were efficient and decently fast. overall, this place would be a good place to stop for lunch if your in town! read more

After checking out the caverns, we went to town and grabbed lunch at Ollie Cat! The owner was extremely friendly and accommodating and engaged with not just us but all the other customers. Very personable staff and just makes you feel right at home, especially if you're also a social butterfly. We got mimosas, and food items from the sandwich menu and some fries and we were quite full. The owner gave us stickers for finishing our plate which is a nice memorable keepsake. It was very chill environment with a bar and a jukebox. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Order a bacon hamburger. It.was no bigger than the bottom of a pop can.. ordered medium it cam out burnt. The bacon was not fully cooked the bun was stale. Husband ordered a panko crusted flounder sandwich. It was actually a frozen fish filet on a stale dry bun with a wilted piece of lettuce on a plate and a shot glass size cup of tartar sauce. We each ordered a drink (beer and cocktail) took almost 10 minute service was terrible and we were the only customers in the place. There was a little child running around wild and disruptive that i assume belonged to one of the waitress. It was obviously a new family owned diner but they have a long way to go read more

I'm only giving one star because of the customer service--Shay, the server, did her best. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The atmosphere was messy and unappealing, with flies on the windows and mismatched chairs and tables everywhere. I couldn't finish my Spicy Double Black Bean Burger--it was bland and tasted like it came from a frozen pack. My boyfriend's BBQ Philly was watery, the bun wasn't toasted, and the cheese was poorly melted and floppy. The only thing we enjoyed were the fries, which was the easiest part to get right. The coleslaw was just okay. Also, avoid the water--the tap water tasted rusty and unpleasant, like it came straight from a bathroom. Never coming back! read more

I was at Luray Caverns and wanted a local lunch spot. A quick google search and I was excited to try this place. There was only two people in the restaurant when I came in. Waited maybe 10 min for someone to take my order. (Not a big deal- never been here before so I didn't know what I wanted) waited 20-30 minutes for my food, which came out lukewarm and wrong. My son and I were visiting Luray caverns and wanted to eat somewhere local. We decided to Try Ollie Cat cafe. The drinks looked amazing but we had a 2 hour drive home so didn't get any. Maybe next time we'll try one. We were seated quickly and everyone working stopped by our table to help. We both ordered the spicy black bean burger with pepper jack cheese,lettuce onion and pickles. My son ordered a baked potato and I got fries. The food came out quickly - I didn't realize there would be 2 patties on the burger! It was delicious and filling. The fries were really good. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My son said his potato was fine. He ordered a plain baked potato- nothing on it - not even butter! We both thought it was cute inside. Our experience here was very disappointing. My family and I arrived, and stood waiting for a table while multiple servers took care of customers already seated and with food. As a former server myself, I was in shock that 2 servers told us to wait while they carefully took their time tending to customers already seated. Finally, a server took us to a table in the back and simply pointed at it for us to sit and she walked away. She did not say a word to us!! It is also worth mentioning that my family and I are Filipino visiting a restaurant of all white folk. As we walked to our table many of their customers sat staring at us as if they had never seen a family of Asians in their life. I'm not sure if our race had something to do with the (lack of) treatment we received here. We looked over the menu and waited over 20 minutes, and noticed the servers taking orders of customers who walked in AFTER us (who happened to be white). Unfortunately, we were too hungry to wait any longer and left to find a Dunkin Donuts close by that not only fed us right away but greeted us very warmly. For a super small town, this is definitely a top-rated place to visit. The service is quick and friendly. The food is great. I had the Hot Dog Platter (two all beef dogs with chili) which was great. There is a full bar and the place feels like home. The seating is all different for the most part but at least the table areas themselves are consistent. This manages to give a larger feel to the small place with organization found within the chaos. Of course, the interesting animal videos that were playing (mostly cats) behind the bar were fun to watch as I had lunch too! read more

Right from the start they seemed very overwhelmed and not thirlled to have another table. After us, there were at least 4 more tables that came in, which added to their ire. Even the kitchen staff was peeking out to see the disarray. Seemed as though our waitress was the main person doing everything, the other girl was just wandering in a tizzy and not doing a whole lot. Everything was not great. Per usual, my food was messed up and they put cheese on my vegan pasta sauce. I actually even asked for no cheese, but they remade it without a fuss. The pasta sauce was not good, very watery. My son's chicken nuggets were over cooked and my husband's veggies were very odd. The only good thing was the blackened chicken, and it was faint praise.
