The restaurant is located in a historic hotel the Mimslyn Inn in Loray. The formal dining room with southern charm but with a diner vibe. I enjoyed the Portabello mushroom dinner and substituted mashed potatoes instead of rice and it was delicious. My two friends thought the beef tips were dry and the other thought the ravioli was not light enough. The server was very nice.

Circa 31 Salad: 4/5 The salad was good, and the vegetables were fresh and crispy. The arugula went very well with the other vegetables in it. Cajun trout: 4/5 Grits (side): 5/5 The trout was very tasty and well seasoned; however, it was a bit dry. The grits that came on the side of the trout were absolutely delicious. I usually think of grits as boring and something to just finish off, but these grits were delicious. It was buttery, flavorful, and I found myself eating it by itself. It also added a lot to the fish when eaten together. I would recommend this dish. French onion soup: 2/5 The soup was quite sweet (maybe because of the sherry added), and the onions and croutons underneath the layer of cheese had become very mushy so that it was more like a bread pudding with some soup in it. The ambiance was very elegant and old-timey, with lots of deep reds and golds. The murals on the walls of 1920s streets were enjoyable to look at during the meal. Servers were very friendly and helpful, but wait times were a bit long.

Had an amazing dinner here during our weekend trip to Luray. We made reservations in advance and had no wait to be Seated. The food was great and will definitely be back!

Located within the Mimslynn Inn, this restaurant serves up some delectable food. I was skeptical because the town of Luray lacks any level of sophistication until you step foot onto this property. It is all class. I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt (because we were shopping) so I felt out of place because the hotel is a grand place and very upscale for this little town. We decided to have brunch and ordered the seafood omelet, a bowl of soup and took a chance on their Reuben spring rolls. We were the only ones in the dining room and the food was taking a bit longer to get to our table and our server (Maya) did the smart thing by bringing us an order of freshly baked bread & butter. YUM. Then the food arrived. WOW! ALL of the food was top tier. Both my girl and I were having "foodgasms" as we ate - it was that good. Those spring rolls were amazing as was the seafood omelet because the shrimp was very tasty. The soup really hit the 'spot' on this cold day. In fact, we dipped the remainder of our bread into the soup at the end of the meal and it was heavenly. When we visit Luray in the Summer, we will definitely eat here again.

Came here on a recommendation and found it to be great…read more The whole place is a somewhat standard American-fare bar. My wife was very excited to try the pierogi appetizer. It was delicious with some onions and what tasted like bacon fat on it. The kiddos got items from the kids' menu - a simple pasta and a small pizza. There was a special while we visited (Oktoberfest, I think) that had some fantastic German items, including a killer schnitzel with sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes. It was fantastic. I got a couple of the on-tap beers and enjoyed them much. There is a respectable cocktail menu (any of them can be made mocktail if you want). One thing I appreciated very much was how family-friendly the place is. Our waitress saw Child #3 starting to melt down and brought him over some toys to play with, commenting that she had kids of her own. Indeed, in the corner, there is a whole table full of toys for kids to play with. Even the bathroom has a full changing table setup, which is way better than those wall changing tables. Overall, a great experience.

This place was horrible from service to the food. Was a nice spot for the little kids to play, but…read morethat's it. First one of the waters tasted funny like soap. I flagged someone over to ask for new water (for the record there was no one dining here and plenty of workers) and the lady stared at me and after 15 seconds said can you repeat that. I said the water tasted funny can we please get a new one. She said, "the water tastes funny here." The server brought us the mozzarella sticks and then said do you want any plates. (Mind you there were 5 of us) and I said he's. He said, "how many" I said for everyone???? I'm not sure why you have to ask. He also later asked us if we wanted a refill... of water. I mean... can't you just refill it without asking? Then our mozzarella sticks came out and one didn't have any cheese in it. To be fair I flagged the server down and I said get I get one and showed him the empty cheese. And he said, "with cheese in it?" They brought back two which was good. The food arrived for the kids first and adults waited like 5 more minutes. So everyone was eating at different times. The burger my kiddo got he said tasted funny and the other older kid said it had a weird aftertaste. I said I didn't want to pay for something that tasted funny. The guy went back to the kitchen and came back and said they were cooking another one. I was frustrated because I didn't want another one. I said I didn't want to PAY for something inedible. He said, "well we can't do that because our boss isn't here." And I was like okay fine just give us the check, it will just be reflected in my review. He came back after like 5 minutes and said his manager said they could take it off. Okay so now the portions were pathetic. The Philly cheese steaks were on hot dog buns and it wasn't even fully filled. The kiddo said the pasta was good. It did look decent. I feel like it's hard to screw up pasta though. The chicken parm sandwich barely had any cheese or sauce on it and was on a flimsy hamburger bun. I'm pretty embarrassed I spent $75 for such a pathetic dining experience. I would not recommend anyone go here.

But when we passed this restaurant it stood out from the rest of the town we had to pull over to stop in! From the front porch to the backyard and everything in between we could see it was inspired by Virginia's alluring nature. From the nature sounds in the bathroom to the monstera leaf themed wallpaper it very much had its own significant charm! We were honored by a visit from the owner (Tony), the chef(Mat) and even the head leader (Jennifer) they are a GREAT TEAM! We could tell talking to them they all felt passionate about what they do. I even noticed the owner looking at the POS system going through every table to make sure he had personally thanked everyone for coming in. Me and my husband got the course for 2 but added on the pork belly. The course included a salad for each of us and a main course but had to share a dessert. Which I found to be the only disappointment considering the price and no note saying it was a shared dessert in the menu. We each had 3 cocktails and a glass of wine. My husband said his first drink was probably one of the best drinks he's ever had and we have lived all over the US. The courses were timed perfect for us. However we wanted fresh silverware to eat our dessert and we waited almost 10mins for them. Our sever was very nice and attentive even our glasses were never emptied thanks to all the other helping staff!

They managed to make it work for us, which was really amazing on their end. I think they were getting close to closing time too (maybe about 45 minutes) and they still made it work. The staff were absolutely amazing and I have no complaints whatsoever. The food was good. The only complaint I have is that the Eggs Bennys only came with one egg? I used to brunch so much in NYC and I don't think I've ever been hit with a one Benny plate - and definitely not at the prices they were charging here. I almost wished they would charge a little more and give me two!

So, this place had awesome service. The waitress was polite, attentive and yet her broken English worked perfectly for the position she was in. She knew the menu and came back to check on us more than a few times. 4/5 stars for the service. She was the best thing about the place. For the food, 1 star. The pictures on the yelp site showing the food explain it all. Notice some images show the food with excess liquid, I mean watery beans without any flavor? And then the rice was served without any seasoning. The guacamole came with huge chunks of tomatoes and it was hard to separate the avocado from the tomatoes. When we sat the waitress brought out chips and salsa. Half the chips were going stale. The salsa was good but more of a liquid consistency. We asked the chips be sent back and new ones brought out. The waitress did without a complaint. Then the things went downhill fast. My wife ordered the Chicken Fajitas for two, "Meh." I asked her about the beans and rice, "Meh." At least the margarita was good. It was sweet, but that is common and can depend on someone else's palate. She requested the corn tortillas because she forgot to order them at the beginning. The waitress brought them out without a problem. They tasted, "Meh." I ordered the Deluxe Burrito, it came out looking like a Picasso done by a three year old, filled with beef from a chef who used to work at the Bell. I tried to eat it but, "Meh." Long and short, nothing had seasoning unless it had the wrong seasoning and nothing was done right. This place deserves a 1 star.
