My daughter literally runs into the classroom as soon as we enter the studio and squeals with excitement throughout the class. She doesn't always follow instructions, but the teacher and her assistant are always so sweet and gentle with her. Each class is planned with fun, unique activities but carefully designed with skill building in mind. I am so grateful to have found this place! We've explored many free trial classes at gymnastics centers and other dance classes all over Orange County and really nothing has compared to this class and the patience and kindness of the teachers here. The families welcomed us in with open arms, the dancers support each other and the teachers support each other. I believe this starts from the top down with the ownership and management. Paula is extremely hands on with the teachers, students and families. And it shows. She doesn't care just about their dancing but cares about their character as an individual. The quality of the teaching staff is exceptional; with the primary focus on technique. But they continue to grow and expand their teaching and choreography styles.They treat the kids as the individuals they are and unify them as a team as well. In the current COVID-19 environment everything has been moved online. The entire staff has been energetic and motivating. They have provided a sense of stability in an unstable environment for our kids. Every week the teachers take time with each kid just to check in and see how they are doing. She loved it at first, but like any toddlers, they lose interest right away. Then we stopped... then at 4.5, school was over, and she wanted to go back to ballet. I checked here and everywhere else, and once again, this worked around my schedule. My little one loves it! She gets super excited going. She loves all the dance teachers here. Also, during the summer, they offered summer camps for 3 hours, and that kept my kid busy. I didn't have to stay either.

She was teaching technique along with some fun dance parties for the girls (age 6). We love that the school offers the highest caliber of training to its students. The instructors, pianists, and administration are amazing and she has grown so much as a dancer throughout her years here. The studios at the Segerstrom Center offer a wonderful space in which to train and she has made longtime friends that share her love of dance. Master classes with touring companies as well as performance opportunities which include ABT's The Nutcracker and National Dance Day have been highlights to her ballet education. We also appreciate how the school is so organized and professionally run. This is our tenth year at ABT Gillespie School and I think that it is evident how highly we regard this school.

So whenever they practice for the recital my daughter was made to feel very left out. The instructor told my daughter that she can do stretches or do whatever she wanted or join the dance. Fact that the instructor pointed that out made my daughter felt like she didn't belong. Paying for the recital or not, every tuition paying dancer should be part of the routine. They have my credit card in their system and charge automatically every month which in the beginning we appreciated because we didn't have to remember to pay or wait for a bill and all that hassle. However, this academy not once sent out updates or announcements of any kind. I checked my spam/junk mail as well as regular mail. They say they do send email but we never got it. Suddenly tuition increased by $30 this month. Also we just found out there is an annual registration fee although there was no additional need for any type of "re-registration." They just simply charge it every July. The reason it's not a 1 star is because after the issue arises they refunded this month tuition smoothly as we decided to pull my daughter from this academy. And while there my daughter didn't mention other issues aside from feeling excluded from the Moana dance. We got quoted with another academy close by for our daughter where tuition is a lot more reasonable and she will be starting there soon.
