[[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated immediately on arrival and noted the terrific bakery counter with pies and cakes- really cool![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered coffee (but of course) and hub-hub ordered a grapefruit juice. Both came fairly quickly. I ordered a french toast combo; the waitress said I'll give you exactly what you want for a bit less, as there was a cheaper option on the menu that'll just work! Of course, I said! Hubby ordered a sunny side up skillet that came with two beautiful sunny side up eggs on hash browns and onions. Ok- the verdict? My sausages weren't very flavorful, unfortunately. But the french toast? Fantastic -with warm syrup too (always a major plus). Hubby liked his skillet, but the problem was with the fresh onions- they were TOO fresh and not cooked thru. Hmm. That was the key one point demerit. But you know what? The owner- an older gent at the counter who took our money- had opened the place 35 years ago (!). Very nice. I'm extremely disappointed with the service we received today. The servers seemed more interested in hanging around and talking with the older customers than actually taking care of the rest of their tables. The bread had been sitting on the tables for hours before we even got there, and it was already dry. The restaurant was barely busy, so there was really no excuse for how slow everything was. I placed my order before them, and while we were waiting, one of them went to the restroom and was gone for about 20 minutes. He came back, and the food still wasn't ready. The cook was taking forever, even though the restaurant was hardly packed. This was poor service all around. When a restaurant is this slow and isn't even busy, there's absolutely no reason customers should have to wait this long for their food. I expected much better. read more

This is my local breakfast place. Been coming here for many years! It's family owned and they have a couple of restaurants in the Chicagoland area. I enjoy coming here mostly for breakfast. I like their service as well. The place is spacious and you can actually have big parties here like 10+ and more to be seated. They have sitting booths as well. They have a couple of TVs if you enjoy watching TV while you eat. They have their own private parking lot. On to the food. I like their open face turkey sandwich. It's on top of white bread slices of turkey with brown gravy with mashed potatoes and a little bit of stuffing and cranberry jelly. Reminds me a little Thanksgiving meal. They have daily different soups. My favorite is the cream, rice and chicken soup so thick and creamy. I like their breakfast meals, their menu is extensive. I believe you can have breakfast anytime of the day. You can have a skillet or a huge omelet, bacon on the side love extra crispy myself or any way you want, they're accommodating if you ask. I like their canned peaches and cottage cheese. The peaches are halves, which I like. Their steaks are ok and ribs too. This is more of a family friendly place. A lot of seniors come here and dine. It's not divey, but they still have carpeted floors and a diner bar type situation in the back of the restaurant if you like to sit there and watch the staff grab and make orders. And don't forget the desserts they have pies and cakes from a local bakery as well as if you buy the full dinner meal, your dessert comes with it. You can eat it or take it to Go, which is a plus. My favorite salad is the Julie salad which is iceberg lettuce in a very cold bowl and comes with slices of deli meat of turkey and ham, American cheese and Swiss cheese hard, boiled egg, red onion, and some kind of green olives, chopped relish. It's so good sometimes you don't even need dressing, but I love their house made thousand island dressing that looks pink, which I believe they use canned beets for the color it's so good sometimes I ask to go of extra salad dressing cause sometimes I can't finish the salad by myself in one sitting. First time at the West East American Diner! Seated immediately and our drinks order taken immediately - Fast customer service! For the appetizer we ordered the Mozzarella sticks which were good. For my main entree I got the Belgian waffle w/ pecans, side of Sweet Potato Fries, and two eggs sunny side up. The diner has an old school but lively ambiance. Let me start by saying I never have written a review but because this experience was so bad I felt I should. What happened to this restaurant? The windows are filthy. The bathroom disgusting! The tile floor outside the bathroom and inside are sticky! As I looked around I noticed how dirty the restaurant even the walls are in need of a good cleaning. Then the food came and it is not what it used to be. Actually the food was terrible!!! - even the rolls were stale! And to insult to injury another server decided to vacuum the carpet by our table while we were still eating - we politely asked him to stop - there was a whole unoccupied area that needed vacuuming. We won't be visiting this restaurant any time soon. So disappointed! But I have to say our server Vanessa was very good!!! read more

We were in the area. Have not been here in a while so we decided to dine here tonight. The restaurant was packed and large enough that you don't really hear the people's conversations at the next table... which we liked! Our waitress Roseanne was so sweet, she gave us glasses of ice water and a bread basket when we sat down. The bread basket had about 20 packages of crackers, 4 croissants and 2 pieces of Italian thick sliced bread. It was really soft and delicious. My husband ordered the Russian Reuben, but he doesn't like his corn beef cooked so they served it cold and the sandwich was so huge it was served open face. He ordered the deluxe because it comes with a soup or dinner salad and fries. He liked it but told me would try something else next time. I ordered the turkey dinner. It comes with a soup of salad so I picked the dinner salad with creamy garlic dressing. I can't have tomatoes because tomatoes cause me arthritis pain so I did not have that on my salad. The turkey dinner was really good except the stuffing was on the sweet side with yellow raisins which I did not expect...so I did not eat more than a small bite of the stuffing. I probably won't order it again. I am more of a savory stuffing fan. The Ala Carte Dinner also came with dessert. My husband and I split a piece of chocolate cream pie. It was delicious! Awesome all around. We had a party of 12 and every single one of our food items were accurate. Our waitress was great. She was very polite and attentive, really made all of us feel welcome My only complaint would be that the Country Fried Steak was overcooked, it was chewy and tough to chew. After the Covid pandemic many Restaurants closed their doors to the public for Evening Dining and Dappers has successfully continued to provide full healthy dinner entrees. A solid choice for a Greek Family style meal. Standard greek place that specializes in breakfast and lunches, although they also serve dinners too. Standard atmosphere with good service. Let me start out by saying their Cream of Chicken soup is REALLY good, i could (and have) come just for that, lol. Everything else is done pretty well done and reasonable, a definite good choice for a family meal with tons of options, everyone should be able to find something! I'm not gonna lie, this place sucked. When I came in, the guy that sat me just threw my menu on the table and walked away. I had to dust something off of the saucer under my coffee cup. Half of the creamers left on my table were already used. The wrap I ordered was GIGANTIC and it was unrealistic to pick up and fit in my mouth. The plate that it was served on was always wayy too hot. I don't know if it was fresh out of the dishwasher or if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Even though we live locally, we hadn't been to Dapper's in well over 10 years. Both my husband and I didn't remember it as having anything special to bring us back. On a recent Thursday evening at about 6pm we were in the mood for a family type restaurant and decided to give Dapper's another try. Our meals, service and price of the meal were all really, really good. I recommend the roast half chicken with stuffing. The skin was seasoned well and really crispy. The meal came with soup, choice of potato and the best part -- my choice of a bakery item for dessert. I chose a strawberry and cream filled cream puff with chocolate topping. So good. Some Yelp reviewers mentioned that most of the diners are very old. So what? Old people need to eat also. read more

This restaurant is a place my family and I go to regularly. The staff is all super friendly and on top of things. I rarely ever have to ask for a refill on my drink or extra napkins. The bread basket is always fresh and filled with favorites. I love the spinach pie dinner you get a side which I always choose French fries they are always so warm and delicious never soggy. Then you get a choice of soup or salad and dessert which I always get my dessert to go because I'm so full! Also the desserts here ain't small you can get cake or pie! Dapper's hands down has some of the best breakfast diners in Addison, I've been hearing about their skillets and might I say the skillets meet the expectations. To start, I got breakfast, lunch, and dinner entree's plus an appetizer. For the appetizer I got mozzarella sticks and they were better than average: lightly breaded and packed with the perfect amount of cheese. Next, the lunch. I got a BLT club sandwich, this is a easy sandwich to make, but a hard sandwich to master and Dapper's almost got it. The sandwich was packed with bacon and had a good amount of mayo ( if not a fan of mayo ask for easy mayo ) and the only part of the sandwich that didn't make it perfect was the lettuce. If they took off a third of what they put on it would be perfect ! Now for the thorn of the review. For dinner I ordered the perch dijon. I've had this at other restaurants and its one of my favorites. The dijon was good, but everything else that goes with it is the problem, namely the perch and the pasta. I found two little bones in the perch, which I don't care about too much, but is a little annoying and dangerous for kids (although I don't see kids ordering a super flavorful and overwhelming dish) That's just the start. The perch and the noodles have no flavor or seasoning. It was disappointing to eat something as tasteful as dijon mixed with bland noodles and perch. It's like drinking your favorite soda or juice, but drinking water at the same time, so it waters down the taste of something great. And the Rose of the review is the breakfast. I ordered the steak gypsy skillet and it was the best entree. I ordered it with a Skirt steak and 2 over easy eggs blended with different cheeses, mushrooms, and green pepper. Everything blends so beautifully together and tasted amazing. It was seasoned great would come back again for this skillet and try other breakfast items. Final comments, the atmosphere was nice and spacious and the workers were really friendly. The only problem I had eating was not getting my refill til I was halfway done with the food and the two workers I spoke with didn't know the menu super well. The man I spoke with on the phone couldn't explain what was in the green pea soup other than it having green peas, and the my waitress was unsure what was on a couple of the entree's I asked about. I would come here for one thing: the breakfast. Breakfast was stellar and I would be open to trying some of the lunch menu. I would steer away from the dinner and pasta's, I had an overall great experience with my girlfriend and would come again. read more
