Pleasantly surprised when visiting Joe Donuts! The Itasca location is within the Ricky Rockets Fuel Center. They have their own dedicated entrance, seating areas inside & outside, and a nice ordering counter. They have a wide variety of donut flavors but they seemed to be selling fast since it's the weekend. I highly recommend coming early to have your choice of donuts as I'm not sure how often they restock. When visiting, I tried their Boston Cream donut, Gimme My Regular breakfast sandwich, and Caramel High-Rise Coffee. The donut had a really good flavor of chocolate icing and custard filling. I got my coffee iced and it was the perfect sweet coffee treat. The breakfast sandwich was by far the favorite. The portion was huge and is easy to share or have leftovers. I really wanted to leave a good review. I was excited to try this place based on the online reviews. I ordered the Farmhouse chicken with cheese and hot sauce on the side. The brioche bun is beautiful and delicious, the chicken was lacking in flavor, and thinner than I expected. Needs more seasonings including salt (I'm an anti salt person and it needs salt). I also ordered the onion rings, they were under cooked and also lacked seasoning. I had a few and thought I could doctor them up and place in my air fryer later, nope, I threw them out. And believe me, it was a tough decision since I don't throw out food. Lastly, take for what it's worth, I bought 2 donuts, one was a premium and another was a cherry cake donut. Both were just ok. I was so pleasantly surprised when trying Joe Donut. There is a wide variety of donuts and boy did they start to sell out before our eyes. So be sure to come early enough to get what you want. We ended up getting 8 donuts and all of them were deliciously. We also ordered two lattes - the turtle and the honey Joe. Both were tasty but they honey Joe was by far the best. My husband also got a biscuit sandwich which was also yummy. The staff was friendly and extremely patient as we took some time picking our donuts. I highly recommend this hidden gem. Although inside a gas station - don't let that sway you - it is wonderful spot and look forward to my next visit. read more

I was in the mood for a breakfast burrito, so I typed it into my Yelp search, and this place came up, which I had never seen before. Based on the good reviews, I went there. As people have stated, Joe Donut is inside of a newer, good looking Shell station. I ate my breakfast burrito at the tables inside (they bring it out to you), and I ate while I watched the NFL game on the big screen television. The burrito was delicious and fresh tasting, and it came with a large amount of tater tots. It is a huge sandwich, which could easily be shared. I was impressed by the good food and friendly vibe I got here, so I tried them again, for lunch this time, a couple of days later. I called in a to-go order for a double cheeseburger Royale and some fries. The food was ready upon arrival and very tasty, reminiscent of a good diner style burger. I highly recommend Joe Donut. It's inside a gas station but don't let that concern you. This is one of the best finds since I moved here. The food is AMAZING. My fiancé and I stopped in at Joe Donut inside the Ricky Rockets gas station. Helen took our order, answered our questions, and was so incredibly pleasant. I ordered the Spicy Gringo Biscuit, and he the Honey Chicken Biscuit, both with a side of their incredible homemade hash browns. It was noon, not breakfast time and they were made to order, hot and fresh. We were here for a conference in town, but will 100% make the drive from Chicago to eat here again. The place is fantastic and I highly recommend it. Yes, it's inside a gas station and at first was skeptical about going in. So happy we did. The food is great and the service even better. They have tables and a counter to eat at. There is only one cook and one waitress and they are the best. Was told the cook makes the jams and jellies himself. He actually came out to my table because he forgot to give me the avocados with my eat your veggies skillet. Real nice guy. The food is delicious and the portions huge. For the amount you get the prices are well worth it. Very reasonably priced. The potatoes that come with the breakfast are very unique and the honey butter for the delicious biscuits is sooo good. I honestly never had their donuts but as for the food, you can't go wrong. We will definitely return and recommend this Joe Donut in Itasca. Delicious and huge biscuit sandwiches. I could only finish half of my southern lovin which had fried chicken, cheese, bacon, and honey butter on a homemade biscuit. The kids loved their donuts. It's very close to the Elgin O'hare if you need to grab breakfast to go before heading out for the day. They had good looking burgers and shakes on their lunch menu. My experience at Joe Donut was a great one. I called to place a to-go order and was told they were sold out of biscuits, so I said I would try them another time then. Less than a minute later, a lady called back and said they could use 2 smaller biscuits and I was completely fine with that. We placed our order and drove over. Upon arriving, it's inside of Ricky Rockets Gas Station, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The same lady that called me, greeted me and she couldn't have been more pleasant. She was help and thorough .. even showed me my order. I left pleasantly surprised and was really happy they seem to be doing so well. I got home and sampled my purchase which was a Chicken Sandwich on a biscuit with bacon, 2 cheeses, and a side of sausage gravy with breakfast potatoes. The sandwich is perfect, seasoned right, tender, and you could taste every bit of each ingredient. My only 2 issues: The sausage gravy definitely lacked salt/pepper, so it was pretty bland, but I fixed it up myself and it worked fine. The other issue was that the breakfast potatoes (which are kind of like hash brown fritter-type things) were a bit underdone, but again, I air-fried them and they were fine. Overall, a GREAT spot! I arrived on a Wednesday morning at 8am to find they only had 13 donuts left. I ended up buying a dozen for our office and left one orphan to fend for itself. The lady behind the counter apologized and said it's always hit or miss. She said they had 75 donuts leftover the day before. Since they were almost out, I didn't have much of a selection as I took whatever was available. Luckily this included several maple bacon donuts which were a hit at the office.
