Rooster's Barn N Grill is a fairly popular place among longtime residents. A lot of meaty items mostly chicken. They have a few other items if looking for healthier. Coming in here it wasn't crowded. It's got a few older people at lunch. The atmosphere is pretty homey as in like someone's house in the country it seems. Only it looks like a barn. They have a few fancier cocktails as well. It's about $11 for a cocktail. We got a couple of these including a Manhattan. As for the food it's nothing at all special to be honest. It's about $5 to get a side item. Has limited choices. We each got a side salad and sweet potato fries. Basic. These needed to be put out for pasture. Got to see it's not as bad as it looks. It's located at Lake and Third. I placed an order over the phone for fried chicken dinner. Ask the girl if it was a whole chicken or a half and she told me it was a whole chicken. When I got there to pick it up, they gave me the wrong order, good thing i checked, I opened the box and it was fish fry. Then they brought me my order and it was only a half chicken. Everybody acted confused and then a woman came to me and said would you like me to give you a credit or do you want a different sandwich? I didn't want credit or a different sandwich . I just wanted ordered. I think if you have someone answering the phone and taking orders, they need to be trained on what the menus is. A friend and I went here for lunch. It's a sizeable place and somewhat busy at lunch on a weekend. A bunch of noise was coming from the lower level; I think this may be where they have the slots that are advertised outside? We both had the buffalo chicken salad which was plentiful and tasty. This building seems to have some leakage problems: in the hallway to the restroom was paint that had buckled and some framed photos filled with condensation, so I hope they are mindful of this in regard to mold in the building. read more

We came to this restaurant for brunch on Sunday as they have endless mimosas, was convenient to family I was visiting and known to family as good waiter there (Justin - pictured, he never lets you go needing anything or empty cups, even gave us mimosas in to go cups!). It is a really home-y atmosphere feels like you're in a living room which is cool, was not crowded and could stay and not feel rushed. We probably drank 4 bottles! lol. Went here on the recommendation of my brother for the Friday fish fry. I did not order the fish. I just ordered a soup & sandwich. My brother did order the fish and he liked it. We also ordered chicken tenders which were cooked in the same batter as the fish and the meat was dry and tough. The menu was pretty extensive and I knew that nothing on the menu would be "good" or stand out. I was right. The fish was dry (the piece I tasted), the tenders dry, my turkey sandwich tasted old (I did not finish it), the soup was good, but it was not hot! Enjoyed a delicious lunch today out on the patio. Perfect weather to eat outside! Today's order was the pot roast on a pretzel roll with Mac-n-Cheese as the side and a cheeseburger and French fries. The pot roast sandwich on the pretzel roll continues to be a favorite! The Mac-n-Cheese was kinda ordinary. The cheesy sauce was slightly better than the stuff in the blue box you make at home, had nice thick noodles. Very farm friendly decor environment! I have not been here in many years, it still looks the same as before, timeless! There are two floors, downstairs is the main bar area and access to the outdoor patio. Upstairs is the restaurant seating area. Staff is very friendly, attentive and has consistent smiles. Food prices are still reasonable, food portions are very large and plentiful. The food was great everyone that ordered their meals was very happy and completely devoured every piece on their plate! So me and my daughter went this afternoon to grab a bite before my sons game. We waited 30 minutes and still was only asked what drinks that we wanted. At the 35 minute mark we had to leave because there was no possible way that we would be able to place an order, eat and get to the game in time. After complaining to the hostess I was charged $8.00 for 2 sodas that we didn't even drink. You would have thought after I complained about the service they would have let that slide??? My original review from my first visit about a year ago would have read completely differently than the one I'm about to write and it makes me kinda sad. This is the kind of place you want to like so bad but it's now clear to me why you never have to wait for a table when you come here. The service the last 2 times we have been here was mediocre, at best. The most recent visit, we went with my sister and brother in law the day after getting home from our of town and had nothing in the fridge to eat, so out for brunch we went. I typically order lunch foods for breakfast at most places because most restaurants serve too large of portions for breakfast foods that can't be reheated, so I will usually skip right to the lunch foods. I learned right away they don't have lunch until 11 am so I was screwed right from the start. I asked the server if they have egg beaters and she informed me they do. Then I asked her if they were egg beaters brand or another brand. Yes, I'm a freak of nature and can tell the difference. I'm not a fan of any of the so-called egg beaters on the market except egg beaters themselves. Hell, we actually hold a membership at Sams Club based solely on the fact that they specifically sell the egg beaters brand eggs and Costco does not. So she wasnt sure if they are egg beaters or not so she went to ask a manager. From the body language, it appeared that they told her they "weren't sure either but tell her (me) yes, they are". I knew then that I wasn't ordering them. I'll suffer through regular eggs. I ordered a skillet, as did my hubs, my sister got a meal of all different items and shared with her hubs who ordered biscuits and gravy. I have to point out that their menu listed green peppers as an option for my build your own skillet and I asked of they had red peppers too, she firmly told me with confidence they did not have red peppers, they only have green. Wait for it. First, my brother-in-law's eggs were served cold. Not warm...COLD. they had to be remade. Second, my husband's and my meals did not come out with theirs. We ask the server and she explains that because we have separate checks, the meals will be prepared separately. Hey, chef, these two checks are at the same table, can u make sure they all come out at the same time? See? How hard was that? Our meals were served about 5-10 minutes apart. :( My husband enjoyed his meal. Then again we were starving. They make their corned beef hash in house. I did not find my skillet to be appealing. The potatoes, veggies and cheese were all at the bottom and the eggs placed on top as an after thought (or so it appeared). The cheese was scarce, the eggs were well done which is exactly how I like them but what were all these red things in my skillet??? Oh, what do you know? RED PEPPERS! I would have gladly waited 40 minutes for a table at brunch cafe down Lake street. I'll make a mental note. read more

First time at Roosters and stopped there for a bite after a long road trip. we placed our order but after 45 minutes no food and other tables who were seated after us were already eating. We had a basic order with a burger and fish. The server didn't check with us the entire time and she was at the tables next to us frequently. Finally after being ignored she walked up & said, " I'll go check on your order". she came back and said , it's coming out soon. We waited another 10-15 minutes and we stopped her and asked how much longer because we are about to walk out, she said I'll go check again". came back and said 10-20 minutes in a tone that seemed annoyed. I asked what is the problem? she hesitated and mumbled something about the ticket getting missed. I told her that's not acceptable and very poor service for not checking on it sooner while she's serving all the tables around us first which were all couples. Apparently 2 female customers do not get the same service as others. We got up to walk out, she started cleaning off our table without saying anything. I said "nice job ladies, you just earned a very bad review". I can't speak about the quality of the food but service is horrible. & for the girls, bring a man so you don't get ignored. read more
