A few days ago, my family I came here to pick up lunch for a group of us, which was about nine. This was our first time coming to this restaurant and trying their food so we were a little bit excited, especially when we saw how fresh and how delicious their fried chicken looked. We placed our order, and it was a to go order, we ordered a tray of their fried chicken, which is about 20 pieces per tray, and it was a lot! We also ordered some noodles and fried rice. Unfortunately, I can't say that we were big fans of the noodles or their fried rice, it definitely was not what we are used to, but we understand this is a different style of cooking in a different cuisine compared to what we usually get while we're in this area of Queens. It was on the sweet side. The fried chicken on the other hand was a hit. We all loved it. It was crispy and it was delicious and it was not salty at all, which we all appreciate. The restaurant inside is cozy, clean and very quiet, a few tables and chairs available for patrons to sit and dine in. They have quite a few items to pick from such as desserts, different types of tea and cold drinks, along with many other types of rice and noodle dishes. Darbars has the best jerk chicken loaded fries I've ever tried. The sauce they marinate the chicken with makes it super spicy yet delicious to enjoy. Pretty solid spot with affordable food if you're not looking to break the bank just for having lunch. The place is medium sized, with enough room to eat in which was no problem to me since there were only 2 other customers in the spot at the time. I wasn't really sure what to order at the moment so I went for Chicken w/ Rice, Mozzarella sticks and Mango lemonade. The Chicken and Rice looked kinda messy, also not a fan of the amount of onions they put in there but don't let the setup of the food fool you, it's pretty good with the white sauce being a complimentary condiment for the salad alongside with it. The Mozzarella sticks were decent but had a bit too much breading, which would've been perfect if they had marinara sauce...they did not, kind of a miss on that part. The Mango lemonade to me was the better part of the meal, nice, cool and delicious. That lemonade sure hit the spot. Service was pretty decent, the food arrival took a little longer than I cared for but the food was fresh and hot so can't complain much about timing. All the orders were double/triple checked prior to giving them to me and the fried rice was soooooo good. I will definitely be going back. My co worker didn't like her lo mein;/ the chicken wasn't bad . The lamb burger was homemade and it tasted good. It got a little messy once the burger was cut in half so I didn't take a picture. This is a cool spot. If you order from UberEats they have a "buy 1, get 1 free" deal. I got the lo mein with 3 HUMONGOUS pieces of fried chicken for $9. I'm stuffed. The food was delicious. They added tons of extra little hot sauce (which I'm so fond of). I also got chocolate cake and now I can't finish it. Really solid spot with huge portions, reasonable prices and prompt delivery. I decided to visit Darbar's because my Auntie catered some vegetable fried rice from here for my cousin's wedding and everyone loved it. My son absolutely loved it so I came to patronize the business. You do have to wait a bit for your order especially if it's customized. It says on their wall, tasty but not fast which is perfectly fine with me. I'd rather good food that takes a bit of time than rushed food that tastes like crap. Darbars was an unexpected surprise! Mm I was scrolling on ubereats looking for something new to try and stumbled on their menu. The fried chicken and fried rice had great reviews on Yelp. So I placed an order for chicken wings and fried rice. I requested extra hot sauce on the side. The chicken wings were fried crisp. The price was also reasonable at less than $2 per wing. They were a little salty for my liking. The fried rice had a lot of shrimp, it had a kick of spice to it. With a little duck sauce and a little of their homemade hot sauce, it was delish. I've moved out the neighborhood to the city, and I order their food for my annual holiday party every single year. It's a hit EVERY SINGLE YEAR. My guests can never get enough, so I order double and send them home with lunch for the next day. I did have to take off a star because during the pandemic an employee was rude to my dad when he pointed out that he wasn't wearing a mask. I ordered at 5:50PM and the food didn't arrive till 7:45PM The fried rice only had 2 pieces of chicken as seen below and the buffalo wings were cold just as the fried rice was and the fries were soggy. I'm highly disappointed with this establishment. They have to many ways of placing orders which makes it hard for them to keep track of everything. Today I tried Darbars fried chicken for the first time and I was quite disappointed. I ordered chicken breast and it was over cooked to the point that the meat was hard and DRY. It was NOT juicy or tender. I could not digest the meat and I keep chewing it and it was like eating fibers off a celery stalk. There was no flavor and it tasted like salted chicken. No wow factor here! I feel this was not worth the money spent. Also, the french fries were soggy and oily and for $3.50 I got a child size bag!!! They buy these shoe string fries by the bulk and charge the customer an outrageous price for crappy quality fries!!!!! No thanks! Also, If their chicken Is like this then I can only imagine how the rest of the items are. Probably not as good either..
