You have no idea how many times I've been asked if I plug my car in. Oh silly people, you make me giggle inside. If you have questions about Hybrids, I'm totally cool with you asking me, but I'm going to laugh at you. You have the Internet and you have Honda of Bowie to ask. That's where we bought our beloved Civic Hybrid in 2006...and we have reaped many benefits from it. $1700 tax credit! Cha-ching!! That means direct money back, not a deduction from what you owe on your taxes. Although, now, if you want that tax credit you have to look up the make and model on the Internet because there's a 60,000 vehicles sold cap on it and the program ends in 2009. No smell of burning plastic at the pump. As in my credit card. Back when the gas was cheaper, I could fill my 10 gallon tank for $25 a week and drive a little over 400 miles. Now it's gotten ridiculous at the pump and I am so grateful to have my Hybrid. Navigation is good....I couldn't go anywhere without it and wouldn't want to. The Civic Hybrids have the option of coming with touch-screen, in-dash navigation, so we got it. After going to 3 different dealers, we were tired of the higher than rational prices and came to Honda of Bowie and got a very good price on our car. You get a lot of personal attention here and they take good care of you. We left happy and recommend this location to everyone. One word of advice; and this applies to any car shopping - do your homework before you go and never buy anything you haven't done your research on. Your new car can wait a day while you act responsibly. read more

This review is purely based on the service, not on the sales. I leased my CRV in Florida but have Maryland plates-that was a nightmare and a half. If you want to see how that was handled read my review on that dealership. Needed to get servicing done especially after I drove her 1000 miles from Fort Lauderdale to Maryland, so I looked for the closest Honda and this one is the closest to North Arundel where I'm kicking it for a bit. Being a typical person in the DC metro area I have an insane commute during the workweek and wasn't about to make an after work appointment because I knew one of two things would happen-I would make a 6 or 7:00 appointment on a Tuesday after work and then traffic would happen and I would miss it-or I would get there super early by some stroke of luck and not be seen early because #murphyslaw. So I reluctantly made the decision to come on a Saturday. Made a 10:30, got in on time/early and there was a line ahead of me of course, was told a 2 hour wait for a typical service appointment. Doesnt seem like it should take 2 hours for an oil change and tune up. If you don't have the man power to get it done quickly, don't book that many appointments at a time. I would have said screw it and gone to Jiffy Lube, but my service contract on the lease requires Honda service, and it's free. They did come out in 90 minutes, which was a little better than I hoped-at east they follow the "underpromise, overdeliver" concept. That way people are pleasantly surprised instead of pissed. But be warned-the showroom is packed and FREEZING. The complimentary coffee machine kept me sane while I killed time studying, however. Next time I'll suck it up, get here at 7 am when they open and and be first in and out. read more

Twenty five years ago I negotiated a purchase with a dealership and when I arrived, a myriad of reasons were given as excuses for them not being able to honor that price. I departed and made my purchase elsewhere. Since that date I have purchased nine cars and during that time I have never bothered to even check prices at that dealership let alone considered making a purchase from them. This Friday I went to Honda of Bowie having received three confirmations of a price while scheduling to come and make a purchase. Upon arriving I was given a myriad of reasons for their not being able/willing to honor the given price. Once again, being treated dishonorably, we left that dealership and made our purchase elsewhere. Honda of Bowie joins in my list of perpetual boycott. read more

My wife was a very long standing and loyal customer to Darcars Honda in Bowie. Today she finally woke up! I've advised her previously that she pays just as much if not more for service and repairs then I pay for my Range Rover. And the Jaguar/Land Rover dealer in Annapolis always has my rental car there ready and waiting when I drop my vehicle if you advise you don't want to wait. I was cc'd on this email below today and I hope more people in the area demand better service, better quality and a fair price. I picked any Honda dealer (Anderson in Baltimore came up) to call and their price quote from parts was cheaper and they stated they would beat that price with no problem when I spoke with service. This is incredible you cant support a business right up the street. After much consideration I have decided to terminate my service relationship with Darcars Honda. If possible, can you charge my battery and I will have my vehicle picked up and serviced at a different location. I must say, I have been a loyal customer to Darcars and feel as if I am being taken advantage of with the enormous cost that is being presented each time I bring my car in for service. I have located an alternator at a fraction of the price that you indicated. In addition, can have the alternator and battery purchased and installed for the slight increase over cost that Darcars listed as labor for the alternator. Considering, I am not a mechanic I have always trusted the advice provided by Honda relative to the maintenance needed, but I am starting to think that because of my lack of knowledge I am being miss advised and overcharged. I do not recommend taking your car here for service. They recently quoted me a price to replace my wheel bearings. I got quotes from other places that were $400 LESS than what they tried to charge me. About a year ago, they told me that my battery was low and needed to be replaced (even though the light wasn't on). I didn't replace it and the battery is still going strong. I don't know if they tried to take advantage of me because I'm a woman, but I'm extremely disappointed. read more

We originally tried to purchase a Pilot Elite at Annapolis Honda. It was a TERRIBLE experience. After walking out dumbfounded that we just experienced the worst customer service ever, we decided to call Darcars Honda to see if they could help us. I ended up on the phone with the Manager, Glenn. He told us to come and his staff would take great care of us. We showed up and they might as well have rolled out the red carpet for us! It was like night and day in customer service. Tony, our sales rep was amazing and knowledgeable. He showed us all the bells and whistles of the Pilot Elite. Glenn gave us the price we wanted and did not give us the run around we got at Annapolis. Thank you, Tony and Glenn! We drove off last night super happy with our new vehicle. Basically: DON'T COME HERE. The first time I brought my car here was fine. Oil change and tire rotation within a couple hours, it was busy so I understand. They rotated the tires in some cross pattern (I forgot exactly what pattern but both of my rashed wheels on the left ended up on the right). Second visit was a whole different story. I call ahead to ask if it's busy and told it's not so I show up and there's only a couple people ahead of me so at this point I'm happy. I'm greeted by (let's call him) John and he asks what I need and says it'll probably be an hour for an oil change and tire rotation. Okay cool I'll just wait and watch Netflix or something. So about 30 minutes pass and he comes to inform me the car is done. I'm thinking wow sweet short wait! But at the same time I'm curious of the quality of the job. I receive my car and notice a couple wet drops on my windshield and I dismissed it because I thought it was from the car wash. I park it on the side to check the basics like tire pressure, oil color, fluids etc. I pop the hood and guess what, OIL EVERYWHERE. The fluid on the windshield? Oil. How can you even get oil that far from the fill hole?!? Oil all over my strut bar, the FRONT of the car, and I can even see it all the way in the back of the engine. Okay so I figure let's clear this up. I show John and he ensures me he'll personally clean the engine bay. I ask how and he says oh I'll just spray it down with some water (????). I tell him no that's not going to work, standing water all over the engine bay is bad and over time with create rust in little spots. He says okay I'll hand wipe it down. At this point I shouldn't have even trusted him to drive the car back to wipe it down. But I do anyways despite my nerves. He comes back 5-10 minutes later and I check the bay and guess what I see. Oil smeared everywhere. I don't know what he used to "clean" the oil but the drops on the windshield turned into a smeared windshield. The bay is the same, smeared oil everywhere and little red fibers EVERYWHERE from I guess their shop towels. It literally looked almost the same with the addition of the smears and fibers. (There was even an oil smear on my shifter.....) He sees me checking the deep in back of the engine bay and he says "I did my best man." Completely unacceptable. In addition, the wheels were rotated front to back (inconsistent pattern than my first rotation at this same place) and they were even over tightened. Have these guys heard of a torque wrench?I don't know how these employees are "Honda factory trained" when they don't even know how to do such trivial tasks. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Never coming back again. read more

Of the three cars I have had, I have bought two from here. They are so helpful to me. I tend to like working with the younger sales people because not only are they hungry for a sale, but they know what I am looking for. I have also been taking my cars here to get serviced. They are friendly from the time you get in to the time you pull out. There is free coffee, tea, and water and a cheap snack machine. The best part is their awards program. Ten percent of what you spend is given to you as credit for another service in the future. Over the past 7 years, I have racks on racks on racks of credit and am not spending a dime for my 60,000 mile check up and brake change. Gotta love that. I send all my friends here and they never have a complaint. On top of all that, they always call me on my birthday. read more

I have purchased and serviced from this location even before Darcars took ownership. Looking to save a few coins, I went to check out new cars for lease. I worked with the last sales rep I used in 2019 who is now a manager (Elmer Clark) and his team member (Ryan Kelly). They were patient, answered all of my questions, provided other information and insights. Ryan was nice offer water or a snack because I was there quite awhile in the evening. Because Elmer had a sense of my taste and objectives, he selected a few specific cars for me to test drive. And I drove...not cruising around the parking lot and 5 minutes on Rt. 301. After some back and forth negotiating (I can't help but negotiate--it's in my blood as part of my profession), we reached a deal that I felt comfortable with. It was pretty late at night and Ryan helped transfer ALL of my belongings from my prior car to the new car. I'm big on customer service and these two guys are top knotch, I knocked it to 4 stars because Darcars did away with its free oil change care package! I am very disappointed about that. read more

I was intent on buying a used Honda CRV with low mileage. I had done a lot of looking on the internet and found a Certified preowned one at DARCARS Bowie that fit the bill. My salesperson was Elijah Chambers. Elijah was professional, friendly, courteous, and most importantly seemed honest. I very much enjoyed my interactions with him. Nevertheless, he was not the one who determined what my out-the-door cost would be. That would be Elmer Clark, the manager. To his credit, he was not intimidating nor overbearing. Now I understand that the dealership wants to make as much as a profit as possible and I want to save as much money as possible and that makes for a long afternoon. I thought the car price was fair (including the additional $500 document fee) and my trade-in price was fair. It was two additional fees that had my checkbook uttering ouch. First there was a $990 "certification fee" which Elmer told me that the dealership had to pay Honda to get the car to a pre-certified status. Truth? I didn't know but, if so, why wasn't it just part of the selling price? I wasn't thrilled, but I swallowed this cost. Then there was a substantial "reconditioning" fee. If it was certified why would it need to be reconditioned? I said I wasn't going to pay it, but just to get me out of there, I agreed to throw $50 their way. Imagine my surprise when I was presented with the final paperwork and it showed a $55 reconditioning fee. As Joe Biden would say "c'mon man" $5? I then had to wait almost an hour to see the financing person. When I did it wasn't a very pleasant experience. Shahrooz kept trying to sell me extended warranties and the like which I didn't want. He continually and blatantly implied I was stupid for not wanting the extra protection. I would rate the whole experience 2 1/2 stars out of 5 but will round it up to 3 because I am very happy with the car I drove home. read more

I made an appointment at 8am and I was not greeted for at least 20 mins. When it was time to pay I had to walk around until I found a cashier. They just walk around and look at you like you're crazy. I realize staff is limited on weekends but if a patron lives more than an hour away, I believe a more customer oriented business would figure out a way to support their products. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the market for a new car! My salesman, Elmer, was fantastic and really knew his stuff. I walked in there not really know what I wanted and he took the time to help me figure everything out. I ended up with a '16 Accord EX and before leaving the dealership he made sure that I really knew what all the featured did and how they worked. I've never had this happen before, in my past car buying experiences the salesman just handed me the manual and I had to figure everything out on my own. I had the best customer service and everyone I spoke to was so delightful. I will definitely be back when it's time for another new car. read more

What a place! My car died after 200K loyal miles, good bye old friend. First looked up Honda of Bowie using TrueCar which pointed me to the dealership. It was a really hot day and it was the middle of the day when I arrived but it was a beehive, so many people working really hard. Every person who we met was pleasant and professional, lot was clean and the sales people advised us on cars but were not over the top. The lot is great and the people are really awesome; made for a pleasant buying experience. TrueCar pointed us to the store but Bobby Bradsher who is a sales consultant for Honda closed the deal. We were looking for something lower end but Bobby walked us through the different product lines, options and considerations. He knew everything about the car and was very patient on a very hot day (I mean hot). To find someone at a dealer who knows all about the cars and NO PRESSURE! Wow what a concept. TrueCar found the dealer but Bobby was the key in us finding the car and options that we really wanted. We bought a great car, great options and a solid price courtesy of Bobby; Honda of Bowie is top shelf. Traded in a Mazda 3 recently to buy a 2018 Civic hatch on 10/30. The salesman,Tony, was great showing us the details and features of the car which convinced us to get it. They were supposed to pay off the loan we had for the Mazda but after two weeks, still nothing. Called their central office in Silver Spring and was told that the check has not even been mailed yet. What gives? We gave all the paperwork they needed the very next day we purchased the car so we were expecting at least a prompt resolution to our payoff. Extremely unprofessional service. I called Honda of Bowie on August 8, 2022, because my battery was still under warranty. I was told that the only available appointment was on August 10, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. I arrived about an hour early and was told that my assigned advisor called out for the day, but another service advisor checked my car in, Mr. Feyisola. One hour later, I was offered a shuttle ride home, but was promised my battery would be replaced before close of business. At 5:15 pm., I received a call from Mr. Feyisola stating that it was definitely the battery, but Honda would not pay until a full discharge test was conducted. Mr. Feyisola stated they would need to keep the car overnight. Really, for a battery. Anyway, I did not get a call the next morning, so I called about 10:25 am. I was told by Mr. Feyisola that he did not know the status of my car, but that he would check and call me back. One hour later I still had not heard anything about my car. And so, I called Mr. Feyisola. He stated l don't know why they are not working on your car. I then stated you have had my car for almost 24 hours. Mr. Feyisola then stated I don't know why they are working on other cars before yours. You are just going to have to talk to someone else. I asked to speak to the manager. I was put on hold and decided to hang up after 10 minutes. I then Googled the number to Corporate and told them what was occurring. Within 30 minutes the manager, Gabby, called me stating they got an email from Corporate, and they were now putting the battery in. Around 3:30pm a shuttle driver came to my house to take me to pick up my car. Once there, my car had lots of bird poop on it. When I pointed out that I did not bring my car with bird poop, Mr. Feyisola still did not offer to remedy the situation. Instead, I had to ask for the manager again. All in All, it took 28 hours to have a battery replacement. If I had not called corporate, it would have been longer, or never. The audacity of this dealership to not take good care of my vehicle is beyond belief. I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK TO THIS DEALERSHIP. I RATHER DRIVE MILES TO GET TO A DEALERSHIP WITH GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

The service tech tells me,  Oh that price is way too low for that service. Mind you this is on there website.  So I ask to speak to the manager. I spoke to Danny . Not professional at all. He would not honor the price . Talking about the price is wrong and this is my fault . Telling me corporate is working on that. That not my problem. Its on your website  so you should honor this service. This is false advertisement.  You post a price on your website let the Customer schedule the service to then not honor that service. Watch out for bait and switch pricing on their used cars. I was shopping with my son for a used car and went to this shop because I had a friend working there. They brought out a car that was supposed to be $13,500. We test drove it and my son was happy with it. When we sat down to negotiate the sales agent had to go get pricing information from the manager. They came back with a quote that started much higher than $13500, and went up even higher with a bunch of fees. I rejected this. They came back with a second quote that started at $13.5K but still had a $2k "inspection and refurbishment" fee. What the heck is a refurbishment fee? The car was worth $13.5K more or less and if it needed work to get there that's just the cost of business. This is purely a shady tactic to be able to advertise the car at one price, but then goose it up with a BS fee. They pretty much said that while we were there. I could only get half of that fee taken off. They came out with the old "we'd be losing money" line right before I walked out. What crap and even with a friend at the dealership! He was very embarrassed. Needless to say, we found somewhere else to buy a car. read more

I went to DARCARS Honda for an appt to purchase a vehicle on 11/11/16. I used USAA car buying service to identify this dealership and was promised a certain price for three vehicles. When I arrived, the vehicle I was told was in stock was now not in stock and I was given a price for another similar vehicle. Though DARCARS showed the USAA car buying discount, it the added almost the equivalent to the discount in "fees" like "market value" "detailing" "transferring the vehicle" - none of which were disclosed to USAA or me before getting to the dealership. DARCARS agreed to remove the erroneous "market value" but it is disingenuous and their supposed discount was eaten away by the erroneous fees. My wait time was all day, but I have the vehicle and the sales staff was very nice. I will be informing USAA of my experience and asking them to remove DARCARS from their buyer list read more

The following is a letter I wrote to the general manager and service manager.....it followed a phone call.........they both opted to not apologize or respond to my concerns. Used car customers are not at all valued and they are unwilling to right their wrongs. I initially placed my salespersons cards in my office for my clients to support him......I have since thrown those cards away. In order to keep customers a positive experience should last beyond the first day. Honda of Bowie does not understand this concept. Hello Mr. Berlant, Following an awesome sales experience, I am very disappointed that I had such a different experience today. After taking my Odyssey home I noticed several things about my new van that were unacceptable. Most notably a picture was drawn on my back seat, untouched sauce was spilled on the floor under the mat, my air conditioning was not cold, my spare key was broken, and my back seat belt was loose from the ceiling. I alerted Mr. Edwards of these items along with my day off and he promptly made an appointment for today to take care of these items. My appointment was today at 10:00 and after checking in I confirmed my phone number so that I could receive a call for pick-up and was dropped off by the shuttle at Bowie Towne Center. After patiently waiting for four hours with no call, I called to check on the progress of my car and to request a pick up. Thirty minutes later I spot the van and start walking towards it. Unfortunately it pulled off. I immediately called the service department and was assured that he'd come right back. By 4:00 he had not returned. I called again and was told that he had other drop offs but he would be there soon. I then moved outside of the window because I didn't want him to leave me again. Long story short, I was not picked up until 4:45. The excuse I was given for my 1 hour 45 minute wait is that another customer was picked up at the town center and they tried to call me 7 times.....but they called the other customer instead. To make matters worst, even though I expressed that my 4 and 5 year old had to be picked up by 5:30, Bill assured me that my car would be ready to go. Not only was it not parked close ready for me to jump in, Bill blatantly disrespected me and embarrassed me in front of staff and other customers. When I expressed that I had been completely inconvenienced and should have never been given a broken key and seatbelt, hot air conditioning, and a brake light that was not operating, he told me "this is what happens when you buy a used car." That attitude is unacceptable and his social skills are not those that I would expect at a managerial level. Although part of the reason I purchased from Bowie is because of the warranty, shuttle service, and oil changes, I feel so disregarded and disrespected that I never want to deal with your service department again nor refer anyone else. read more

CAUTION TO ALL FUTURE BUYERS: Before I begin this review I would like to clarify that this is not in any way reflective of Henry Ajayi's behavior or conduct. He was a consummate professional throughout. Now, for the scammer, the general manager, Gary Bearor. One week ago my husband and son went to purchase a HONDA CRV. TheY were given an an "out the door"quoted price. However, after looking at the quote carefully, my husband realized that $1200 destination charges were billed twice! This past Friday they went back to continue price negotiations and to purchase the vehicle. They made Gary aware of the destination charge error. After, continuing negotiations they came agreed upon out the door price, however when they were in finance office the quoted price was over $2000 dollars higher. The finance rep got Gary Bearor at this point. Gary looked at the price differences and said "oh, I must have made a mistake!" Really, he made a mistake? I think not. The only difference between the two form as is that one has tax line item, but the other does not. Other than that the forms are identical. This was was no accident or mistake, but a clear action of deceitful practices. It's very unfortunate that Gary's unethical sales practices caused Henry the loss of a sale. read more

UPDATE: 5/16/16 DARCARS CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE INTERVENED. I HAD AN APPT AGAIN. THEY WERE ABLE TO REDUCE THE VIBRATION AND PULL. BUT NOT ELIMINATE IT. I WAS TOLD THAT MY TIRES HAVE A LITTLE FEATHERING AND I WOULD NEED FOUR NEW TIRES WITHIN THREE MONTHS. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE WAS SO EMBARRASSED THAT IT TOOK FIVE VISITS FOR THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SO SO EMBARRASSED. HE SAID WHEN I'M READY TO BUT THEM HE WILL GIVE ME FREE LABOR IN THE AMOUNT OF $80. I ASKED THE PRICE OF TIRES THERE. HE SAID IT VARIES BUT THEY RUN ABOUT $180 EACH. CORPORATE FOLLOWED UP WITH ME AND MY SATISFACTION. I TOLD THE REP IM NOT PLEASED BECAUSE THEY WASTED MY TIME WHEN THEY DID NOT BALANCE PROPERLY AND FIRCED ME TO RETURN SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS ONLY WILL TO OFFER ME $80 WORTH OF FREE LABOR TO PUT ON TIRES FOR THE 12PLUS HOURS I SAT (CUMULATIVELY) WAITING ON MY CAR. I WILL NOT SPEND ANOTHER CENT THERE. I HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR OVER 10 YEARS. I HAD AN '05 ODYSSEY BEFORE PURCHASING THIS ONE. I BOUGHT MY '15 RIGHT THERE AND PART OF MY PURCHASE WAS FREE OIL CHANGE TWICE A YEAR. THAT'S ALL THEY WILL EVER SEE ME FOR. GOOD LUCK TO ANY WHO DARE GO THERE. At my scheduled oil change for my 2016 Honda Odyssey I was advised that my 20k mile maintenance required a wheel alignment and tire rotation and balance. A couple hundred dollars and a few hours later I left the Bowie MD dealership. Late that day I noticed my car vibrated when the brakes were applied at highway speeds. I returned and after another few hours was told the rotors needed resurfacing. $185 for the front ones. And another $185 for the rear. I refused the service because I could not wait any longer. And I needed to think about it. I did some research and learned it was unusual for rotors to need resurfacing in a year old car. I returned to the dealer and requested it be re-balanced. They did. And they replaced my rear wiper. Another $90 plus three hours. The service rep said the machine had to be calibrated hence the long wait. And that my rotors still needed to be resurfaced. I was not more than five miles away when the vibration was the worse it had ever been. And this time I was going 30mph. Three days later I returned for the fourth time. I spoke with the service manager who explained that in this part of the county that is common because of the road conditions. Thus 1year was not uncommon for the rotors to warp. Even for a brand new car. I have read online that many Honda owners are experiencing similar problems. Some at even lower mileage than mine. I just can't understand how that is possible if the parts used are quality parts. That warping could not happen from normal wear and tear! And of course a service bulletin has not been issued because my car is under warranty. That will happen only after my warranty has expired. Needless to say I can't drive with a shaking car with my children saying from the backseat, "mummy your whole hand is shaking when we're stopping". It just does not feel safe. So I'm waiting another couple hours for the rotors to be repaired. The perfect time to write Honda. I have been at the dealer almost twelve hours over my 4 visits. And all I originally came in for was an oil change. I believe my rotors should not need work within one year. I believe I should not have to pay to have it repaired. I expect to feel safe in a new car. I expect not to have to pay for rotor repair within a year of ownership. read more

My experience with Honda of Bowie was not a pleasant one. I made an appointment for my 100K service, arrived at my scheduled time and was told it would take 2 hours to complete service. After many calls to check on status, I didn't get my car back until 6 hours later! During this time no one called to say it would take longer and when I called it was almost impossible to get someone in service to answer the phone. In fact the receptionist actually had to walk out to service to get someone on the phone. When I picked up my car, and left, I had a flat tire!!! So not only did they take 6 hours, they then broke it. When I inquired why it took 6 hours and why someone couldn't call with an update, the service guy, Juan, told me I should know better than to get service on a Saturday. I said, but I made an appointment, he said, appointments don't matter, it's just a formality. I saw someone mention something about points for service, that was never mentioned to me or made an option to me. Overall, bad customer service, and I will make the drive to go to either Bethesda or Columbia Honda locations, where the customer service is 100% better. read more
