I even went into the salon in person to make the appointment and specifically pointed out a client whose hair was being styled with curls using a curling iron and asked if they could do something similar for me. The receptionist assured me that it would not be a problem. When I arrived today, the stylist, Elisabeth, was rude and unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. She had a negative attitude throughout the interaction. After I took my ponytail down, she told me that because I have a lot of hair and because the appointment was apparently booked only as a "blowout" and not a "blowout + curls," she only had time to blow dry my hair and did not have time to curl/style it because she had back-to-back appointments scheduled afterward. Instead of trying to help find a solution, she blamed the person who booked the appointment. As the customer, that is not my responsibility -- especially when I booked well in advance and specifically discussed and pointed out the hairstyle I wanted in person beforehand. The entire experience felt unprofessional, dismissive, and extremely frustrating. Now I'm left scrambling last minute trying to find another salon before my event tonight. The first time, there was confusion finding my booking, which caused delays. Today, it happened again. I was told there was a problem with their system, and instead of finding a solution, my appointment was simply canceled because they no longer had time to perform the service. What is particularly frustrating is the double standard. Customers are charged a $25 cancellation fee if they cancel, but when the salon cancels on a customer due to its own internal issues, all you get is a quick "sorry." There was very little effort made to resolve the situation, offer an alternative, or accommodate me in any meaningful way. To make matters worse, getting someone on the phone is nearly impossible, as calls often go unanswered. After two disappointing experiences, I no longer have confidence in this location's scheduling and customer service. I will be taking my myself elsewhere and would not recommend this location to anyone who values reliability and customer care.

Since the salon is located in Downtown Redwood City, there will not be any free parking as everything is metered street parking - Bring some quarters. Spruce Salon is taking every Covid-19 precaution possible - Only a limited number of stylists are allowed to work at a time {with chairs more than 6 feet apart}, each stylist is only allow to service one client at a time, both the stylist and the client must wear a mask the entire time and a temperature check is given prior to entering the salon. All of these procedures made me feel super comfortable in being in a salon again. My husband has been going to Spruce for years for his haircuts and raved about Nicole, so I decided to give her a shot when going in for a full highlight and a haircut - I am beyond thrilled to have found Nicole - She is a Hair Genius! I am a very easy going person and my hair is the one thing that I can tend to get picky about so I usually go into a salon with several pictures of what I am looking for {and as someone who previously managed salons/spas for years and years, I know this can be a stylists nightmare} - Nicole was amazing and looked through all of my pictures and I put my trust in her to see my vision - She exceeded what I was looking for 10 fold! Not only is she a stellar stylist, but she is beyond friendly and really listens to the clients needs/wants.
