Went for a balayage. I thought everything went well because I thought she was able to lighten my hair until she put on a dark toner for most of my hair and left the two patches of baby hair in front blonde. I couldn't tell what my hair looked like in the back because she only blow dried the front part of my hair. You would think that paying over $300 I would at least have dry hair leaving the salon. In Response to the the owner, Laly: My first text to her after my hair dried at home was that it was much darker after she put the toner on. It almost looked the same as before. I noticed that it was blonde after she bleached it and before she put the toner on so I was super excited that it took. She even said it took well. She put the toner on and my hair got darker again. She had dried the front so i saw the blonde bangs so I took it as the back was lighter as well. The rest of my hair was wet so I couldn't tell until it dried later on. I get that it was unevenly colored before and she fixed it but she could have used a lighter toner. I would have been fine but she used a dark toner so that I would have to come back and pay another $360. I did not ask for super blonde hair. I had asked for it to be lighter, more of ashy/caramel combo. I had an issue with the price as I felt that she used a darker toner so I would have had to come back for another session. I think a lighter toner would have been sufficient bc the bleach took. As for the appt time, I wanted to come in as soon as possible and she said she had an opening so I took it. It wasn't as though she squeezed me in to a tight schedule. I was obviously upset bc I texted her about it. I was not happy I paid $360 for a blonde patch in front and reddish/brown/black in the back. She did not offer to look at it again or anything really and insisted I need multiple sessions. She said she charged me for a color correction instead of a balayage. I wish she had told me that beforehand and given me an estimate. Anyway, I have two blonde patches in front while the rest of my hair is dark. P.S. Yes, I am still upset about it. It bothers me to look at my hair now. Maybe to you, $360 isn't a lot but it's a lot to me and it was a treat to myself as I have not treated myself to self care in the past two years bc I have been pregnant and taking care of my baby. read more

Laly is a gem. The fact that she is an Aveda (no harsh chemicals) salon makes me even happier to have found her. I'd been going to the same person for a few years - even followed her (inertia) when she moved 20-30 minutes away from where she had been in the downtown area of the city I live in. I asked if she would consider natural products (I cough like crazy whenever I go in to a regular salon - from the chemicals) and she was amenable. I love getting my hair done with Laly. Unfortunately, I had to endure getting my hair fried/bleached at another salon before Laly had to fix the color and damages. Searched all over for a new place to color and cut my hair, and though it's more like I wanted a trim, I'd seen my friend do a mix of ombre and bayalage on her hair, and though I don't fancy myself as a faddish, truth is I'm probably a closet fad follower lol :-) So I made an appt. as walk in, a rare impromptu thing for me, and feel bad because I should remember the woman who did my hair. This review is for the place as a whole and it's probable that most if not all the stylists are equally expert. She did a beautiful job on my hair with a color gradient ranging from deep dark brown at the crown and then down to a lighter brownish honey and with bits of burgundy in it, and down further at the tips to a lighter shade of the same. I actually took a photo and was originally going to post it on Yelp buit the color was flat in the photo and didn't showcase what I'm describing in print, so decided to nix the photo. This woman definitely knew what sh was doing, and kept the small talk at a minimum though friiendly and I walked out having paid a good amount (meaning well done), for an entire job under two hundred bucks.
