Omg! I finally met the salon of my dream. Dinna is amazing. She colored my hair with a little high lites to have a definition and for the first time my gray hair blended with my hair. No salon ever done such thing to my hair. In the past I have to color my hair every 3-4 weeks due to my gray hair. This time I am going 3 weeks and my hair still looks awesome. I love her. She even suggested that I can color just my roots without seeing her. With the step by step plus formula she suggested. She advise me to see her if I need to do more high lites. How awesome is that. Dinna is amazing period. I naturally have brown hair, and I decided to dye my hair blonde at home. I stupidly dyed my hair about 4 times, completely FRYING IT. Although it was absolutely fried, I still wanted it blonde. I panicked and reached out to Dinna. She scheduled me for a consultation right away and that went great! She listened and heard my needs and met them- which i'll get to! When I came back to get my hair done, Dinna did a FANTASTIC job! She fixed it, got me to the blonde color/shade i wanted (which many stylists said they couldn't do) AND she took such good care of me! Odd review- I actually didn't go to Dinna to get my hair done .. I tried to bleach my hair the night before NYE resulting in half my hair falling out & my hair turning orange. I stayed up all night crying trying to find someone to fix my messed up hair all night. I saw Dinna opened the earliest in the morning so I texted her at 7 am pretty much begging her to help. Obviously it being NYE she was booked and considering half my hair had just fallen out who would want to attempt to re dye my fragile stands of hair. Anyways she texted back super fast and early giving me awesome recommendations on how to fix my mess.. telling me to just leave it and essentially calmed me down from my epic melt down/panic attack. Dinna is good at extensions and color and charges fair prices. However, I find the salon very unprofessional. It's very small. There is only one tiny couch for the 4 or more customers she has overbooked on top of your appointment, so if you don't mind sitting on leftover Chinese food containers and customers purses and coats, you're going to have stand until she starts your overdue appointment. She also never answers her phone at the salon. Phones are ringing off the hook because it's just her and another hairdresser. No front desk - very informal. She'll get back to you, but it will take up to a day. My first appointment she was 45 mins. behind and told me to leave and come back - I thought that was pretty rude. WHY DON'T YOU CALL YOUR CUSTOMERS AND LET THEM KNOW YOU'RE BEHIND. Our time is valuable too. Second appointment she never even showed up!!! I tried calling her all day and she never returned my call until almost 24 hours later. Sorry, I don't care how good you are as a hairdresser, I want service for the prices I'm going to pay. My appointment was at 3pm and she was just starting a customer with hair extensions. Excuse me what am I - a number? Plus I was getting disgusted having her color my hair and in between strokes feeding herself sweet and sour pork. It reeked! Where do I begin? Simply put, Dinna rocks! She is an artist of hair. I went to her for ombre/balayage color after I had gone to another salon that messed up my hair completely! I contacted Dinna and told her what happened and she was very supportive and comforting and immediately booked an appointment for me to see her. I came across Champagne Salon many moons ago while looking for really high quality hair extensions. That's how I found this hidden treasure right in downtown Burlingame. I now live 45 minutes away in San Jose and STILL drive all the way up to see Dinna! Dinna is legendary for her fabulous hair extensions but let me tell you, I've lived and dyed my locks in many, many cities and spend and embarrassing chunk of change on not-so-perfect color. For many years I liked light blond but not brassy color. It's a delicate balance and most end up making it too brassy anyway or just frying my hair. Champagne Salon and Dinna are different. She has the magic touch! I don't know what potion she used but the color has always been spot-on! Reasonably priced too! I have thin hair and her cuts give my hair as much body and movement as possible which is just the icing on the cake! I'm naturally a medium blond and wanted to go from the light blond back to my natural hair color but didn't want to look like I had roots from hell for months and months and months. I refused to cut my shoulder length hair and wanted a color to blend the two. Dinna gave me the perfect transition highlights! Again, can I use the word 'magic' again!?! This girl can work the color! Dinna is a goddess of hair! Seriously. I've been known to bitch and moan about the lack of high quality, cool, non-pretentious, reasonably priced hair salons in the Bay area. This is especially true since my hair colorist moved to Spain, leaving me high and dry! How dare she carry out her dreams and move to a fabulous country?! Well, I have found my new home for all things hair. I now have highlights and a hair cut that I'm totally happy with! It's quite rare for me to say that. I really wanted to like this salon, but in all honesty..... it's crap! My aunt was impressed with the salon, so I decided to give it a try. The manager/ hairdresser was very nice! she's probably the sweetest person in the world and so easy to talk to. The issues.... She was the only person there and she had other clients booked around the same time, so she was rushing around a lot, which looked totally unprofessional. She was so busy that she left the highlights in my hair for way too long. I have naturally dark hair and the highlights looked white! she tried to fix it, but there was really nothing she could do. When I got home I even noticed that some of the highlights were orange!!! She also gave me an ugly uneven cut. I could tell that she didn't even like my hair in the end!!! but she wasn't going to try to fix it because her friend had been waiting 30 minutes to get her hair cut. She just wanted to get me out as soon as possible! Oh yeah, I was there for over 4 HOURS! what the heck? This place was a nightmare and you know you should never ever return to a salon where the stylist obviously doesn't even like the job she did on your hair (she looked disgusted) and doesn't make an effort to fix it. My mom and I both went to Champagne Salon today for appointments with Chrissy Lattari. My mom was badly in need of hair repair since she hadn't had a good haircut or color in almost a year. I went for a partial highlight to get my highlights touched up. They had grown out from five months ago and after my vacation were extremely brassy and needed some serious help. Just as a tip, Chrissy is running a welcome special of cut/color for $100 on Craigslist that you can reference if you plan to go (not sure how long this will last). Chrissy was bubbly and personable and really knew her stuff when it came to color. She listened to exactly what I wanted and gave me amazing red and light brown/blonde highlights without any brassiness in a cooler tone (my #1 request). The color looks fantastic and I know people are going to be stunned by the new color. My mom had medium brown, extremely subtle highlights put in and a new haircut (finally). Both the haircut and the color suit her perfectly and really fit her lifestyle of wash-and-go. Chrissy did a stellar job both professionally and personally (guiding my mom through hair anxiety). I will be back again and again! I hope Chrissy sees this and is flattered by all the positive reviews! Dinna is awesome. She's very sweet and easy to talk to and really cares about her customers. I love going to her. I've never had her color my hair, but I hear that that is her forte. I have her cut and style my hair and she always does a fabulous job. She even gives great tips on how to maintain my hair and simple ways to style it. She also does free trims for your bangs between cuts. The salon itself is small, but I like the intimacy of it. You're not surrounded by 20 other stylists and their customers. I wasn't quite sure what I was going for and naively thought I'd find the answer in those extra few minutes. No need, I sat down in the chair and just asked "What do you think?" Dinna is good. She has a great eye and was honest... and in the nicest way possible called my hair... what was it? Oh yes, "Neapolitan" flavored. Between us, I had roots, dye and fried all in one sweet head of hair. I couldn't help but laugh and appreciate the honesty. We had just met! Dinna has such a great sense of humor and go with it attitude that you can't help but fall right into this place. It's inviting and cozy and very well priced. I used to go to SF for my haircut & highlights. Nothing wrong with my hair stylist except it's getting to be too much to drive to SF when there are so many options in my neighborhood. I tried a salon close to downtown Burlingame but the hair cut didn't grow out well. So I decided to try another & took a chance with Dinna at Champagne Salon. (Thank you for the Yelp reviews!) First visit, I took advantage of her cut & highlights special. The highlight was a little too light for my taste so I called her later that evening to let her know. She returned my phone call right away & scheduled to tone it down the following day. I'm impressed. 2nd visit, I came in for a cut & blow-dry. I scheduled the "cut & dry" on the same afternoon that a friend of mine is getting married. The cut she did on my 1st visit was done so well (about 6-8 weeks prior) that my hair style actually looked great when I came in that afternoon even *before* the cut. Where would you find a stylist who will offer to just "clean it up" a little bit & blow-dry so you get charged half instead of a full trim & blow-dry? Very ethical indeed. 3rd visit, I know I found my new stylist. And finally I remembered to give her what's due - a glowing Yelp review! Thank you Dinna for making my hair beautiful again! I went in with a train wreck of hair. It hadn't been colored of cut in a year after the horrible experience I had at Regis. One of the things that sold me on going to Champagne Salon was not only the yelp reviews but also the ease of being able to book and appointment online. I booked online, got an email from Dinna herself making sure what I had put in the appointment was what I wanted, then an email reminder 2 days before my appointment. It was awesome! Champagne salon is a bit smaller than other salons I've been to but I didn't mind that one bit and I don't think that should deter anyone from going Champagne Salon. There is also a lot of parking in the evening. Dinna actually took the time to sit down with me and go through a few magazines to find a color that would work and look good. She really listened to the type of color and cut I wanted and it came out even better than I expected. Dinna is super friendly and really easy to talk to. I love Dinna!! I have very short hair and and weary of trying anyone new for fear of receiving a horrible cut, it's not like I can just pull my hair into a ponytail!! So, when I moved to Burlingame a year and a half ago and couldn't persuade my stylist from Davis to move in with me, I was referred to Dinna by a friend. She was so sweet and gave me a great cut but she actually referred me to L Salon, where she used to work. So, I decided to try it out (see my other review). After deciding that I didn't want to spend $70 for a simple haircut I called Dinna and scheduled an appointment. It must have been at least a year since I had seen her but she remember exactly who I was! She is a very sweet person and once again gave me a great cut for a great price, $35!! Okay where shall I start?? I'll say I'm terrified of getting my hair cut. I always tear up and get very scared. I've had so many people just chop off my hair and completely F&$% my hair up. I was my cousin's guinea pig with bleaching my hair and all that hair dye! So I haven't touched my hair much since trying to just let my natural hair grow out. I came here in like March-April and called the shop asking for Dinna. I got a phone call back from Crissy, she's able to book me in the next morning really early, but that was fine by me, I did however book last minute. I got there 5 minutes early and waited outside the door. No one was there. I wait 5 minutes longer, still no one there. I call the number and leave a message saying I'm outside waiting. Still no one opens. 15 minutes after my appointment I see a car screeching into the front of the salon. I'm assuming this is Crissy. She apologizes for being late and we enter the tiny salon. I tell her what I want, and tries to comfort me saying I'm in good hands. She listened to what I wanted, but put in her two cents. She tells me my highlights won't be thick and too bright because she doesn't want it to be a shocker for me. I agree, as long as I can even tell a difference and see the highlights. So I get some settle highlights, or at least she said so. I couldn't even tell a big difference!! In the middle of my session Dinna and the assistant comes in. Eh, I don't see what the hell people are talking about. I didn't get one hello from Dinna and the assistant just had cool looking crazy wacky hair. Not very friendly, she comes off a bit stuck up. Crissy blew dry my hair and tried to style the way I said it was never able to be, full!! But damn, it was still flat! I know Crissy was able to see that my highlights were crap, barely able to be seen!! So she offers me to come back in 2-3 months to get it redone and she would give me the same special that was currently going on. (cut, color, highlights for $80) My hair feels dry, dead, and fried yet again. Unhappy with my hair, I call back 4 months later ready to get my hair redone and hoping for lighter highlights.Ya know, something I could actually see!! I leave a message, and guess what?? I never got a phone call back!! Rude as heck!! That alone made me take off a star on this rating!! This salon has left such a bitter taste in my mouth. If people here on Yelp are saying these people are soooo nice, then the workers must be great actors and must of had the day off when I got there. read more

UPDATE: Both my sister and I came here on separate occasions to get our long hair chopped off by Dinna, and we both loved the end result (I was seriously envying my sister's hair for a good while after she got it cut). For my experience, I felt like Dinna sort of had an idea of what to do when I walked in and said I wanted to chop it off, so I didn't really feel like I got a chance to communicate the issues I wanted to address with my hair. Also, I was expecting the cut to be a little shorter than it ended up being, but that can always be addressed in my next visit. There's a very down-to-earth vibe about this salon, both with Dinna and Christy, that I appreciate, although sometimes I wish the appointments wouldn't overlap as much as they do. My previous review was a 3.5 bumped up to 4 for Yelp, but my recent experiences make it a solid 4 in my book. --- The salon literally squeezed me in for a same-day appointment (I'm just not good with the planning ahead -- requires too much thinking), but I probably should have just taken a raincheck. The salon is tiny -- cosy, maybe, although the set-up is a little strange, and while the ambience is nice overall, with five people, including me, getting their hair done, 3 workstations, and 2 stylists... well, it was a little cramped. Both Christina and Dinna were very nice and welcoming (no attitudes here!), despite working their tails off. Christina was in the middle of two other clients when I came in for a basic haircut -- and while she was very attentive (took LOTS of time to talk to me about my hair and what I wanted), I couldn't help but feel like I was just another head in the chair. No real head massage (boo), and the cut was fine (although what I asked for was pretty basic), if not exactly as I tried to communicate (I said, "sleek, smooth," and complained about my thick hair overtaking my head; I came out with lots of body -- thus enhancing my undesired volume -- and kind of flouncy). I wasn't exactly dying to show off my salon hair afterwards, but neither was I scrambling to put it in a ponytail once out of sight. I could imagine this being a great experience on a not so busy day. The salon is cute, and probably perfect for getting tandem haircuts with a girlfriend (so long as no one else is waiting). I trusted my hair with Christina, and from what I overheard between a fussy client and Dinna in the next chair over, would also trust Dinna (it seems her motto is to step up to challenges in order to improve her skills -- nice!). Also, $55 seemed reasonable for a city-salon experienced stylist, and there was no sales pressure whatsoever. I'll probably try again after I've grown out my hair to donate to Locks for Love, but I'll try to plan ahead for a more relaxing experience next time. Dinna, like many other reviewers mentioned, is VERY SWEET. However, she has no idea what she's doing with blonde hair. I went to her a total of 4 times because I really liked her and wanted to give her time to work with my hair and complete any learning curve necessary on a new client. The first time she did my highlights they were fine ~ nothing amazing but I was comfortable with the result. The second time she turned my hair brassy and all of my highlights were uneven and my root line looked totally off when my hair was up. She was happy to correct it and was able to solve the problems and I was happy with my hair (even though the second trip required another 2 hours in the chair and more babysitting expense of my part for the correction). The third and final time I will ever go to her equated in actual ZEBRA stripes all over my head. I could't wear it up or down without stark bleached lines being visible. Worse yet she fried my hair and actually caused major damage. I found another stylists at Olive Hill Salon in Woodside to correct all of the zebra stripes. The initial appointment with Dinna took over 2.5 hours and then it took another 3 hours in the chair with the new stylist to correct the mistakes. I no longer have zebra stripes, but my hair health has been ravaged. I have breakage all over my head, my hair texture is ruined, and I had to purchase a number of very expensive protein and deep conditioning treatments to try to get back to were I was before she did my highlights. If you have dark hair and it doesn't matter where the highlight lines end up, or if you are getting extensions she may be a stylist to consider. But if you are blonde this is absolutely not the stylist to go to. She was very fair and refunded me the price of the mistake ~ however, from a service review standpoint she should not be doing peoples blonde highlights. read more

Dinna is an amazing hair stylist!!!! I have been going to her for my hair cuts, highlights and straightening for many years now and everytime has been great! I have very thick and curly hair...so trust me if Dinna can style my hair then she can do anyone's hair!! She is the first hair stylist that has taken the time to make me look and feel great.
