I wholeheartedly recommend Dark Horse for anyone looking to replace or service their central AC system. Having previously installed a system about some years ago using the lowest bidder, I had been plagued with constant problems--faulty condenser and multiple Freon leaks. It was extremely frustrating, and I needed to replace that system for this summer. Dark Horse came highly recommended by my neighbors in the building. I found them to be very responsive--they suggested several options for systems I could choose, and gave me a range of prices to choose from. They didn't try to push the most expensive option in front of me, and let me make my decisions based on my own needs. They had one of their techs men handle my installation, and he was incredibly professional--arrived on time each morning (it took a day and a half to install the system), and took multiple steps to ensure that my AC was properly set up with upgraded drain pipes and insulated lines. They cleaned up my place when they were finished, and you almost wouldn't know that someone was even there. Dark Horse replaced my furnace and AC last week. From the consults with him to the installation done by his workers, I am very satisfied. They were knowledgeable, personable, and professional. He was easy to get in contact with. He was very responsive in getting me pricing and setting up the installation with the paperwork and rebates. His workers arrived early on install day and got right to work after confirming the work that was going to be done. They put down carpet covering on the stairs leading to the basement and wore masks. They checked in during the installation to update me on their status/progress. Once the install was complete he went over the entire install and made sure both systems worked prior to leaving. They left their work areas clean and took all of the old parts/units with them, along with the packaging for the newly installed units. Our HVAC unit was completely taken out by the winter storm that hit our realm. Dark Horse came the next day to assess the situation (during the storm). Dark Horse had to dig deep for this one. The manufacturer of the broken unit (Sanyo) was no longer in business, as it was purchased by Panasonic, and Panasonic no longer supported it. And while Panasonic did have recommended replacement units, they were not for sale in the US. Dark Horse figured all of this out and was able to procure the replacement units and deliver them to the US. Dark Horse then handled the difficult process of removing the roof and ceiling units from our apartment and installing the new units, which was no easy job given the limited amount of space and complicated ducting. Dark Horse called about an hour prior to the schedule appointment and asked if it was OK to show up earlier. Just the communication process is a huge positive with his company. He was very informative and was able to word everything to where there was no breakdown in understanding on my end. The work was completed in a very timely manner and highly efficient. We will need further repair and replacement on our system and Jacob was able to fully present what was needed and show everything in levels of urgency. They took the time to ensure that we were happy with the placements of the units and ensured us about the warranty of the units prior to moving forward. Dark Horse agent came out to complete the heating maintenance on our heat pump. While here, he said he wanted to switch it to cooling just to make sure everything was operating properly and noticed that the system wouldn't blow cold air.
