My son and I went on June 18 for self guided tour. I brought a couple of led pen lights but owner…read moresaid they were too bright cause they were led. I have to admit she was right after blinding myself with one of them. So don't bring an LED light. Try to bring red flashlight, non led instead. Otherwise, light on phone is good in a pinch. You really don't need a light unless you're going into lower floors after sun has gone down. ...anyway, despite the fact there were 25 people or so wandering the building, there are plenty of opportunities to be alone with your group or by yourself to do the hunting or trying to connect with the spirits. The only sketch room was psych ward for me..a small, very dark room in the basement. I did see my first shadow person in a hallway bolt across into a room where the door was closed. Not scary really. I ran after it to confirm it wasn't a human and where it had gone off to. Think it was on the second floor by Roy's room and across from the kids' classroom set up. Overall, advice is to go with neutral expectations and enjoy/ appreciate the significance and history of the building. I really didn't sense any negative energy except for that little room ..even in the morgue. Check in is a process, but not disorganized. Bring a clear bag. Use the porta potty outside before going in. It's a beautiful area.. even saw deer on the property right below on of the sunrooms. Oh and make sure everyone in your party, including ticket buyer registers their information via email link once Tix are bought.. I wish this place, the energies there, and owner the best!

The spirits were great. The place was active. THE OWNER, SHARON, WAS HORRIBLE. Be warned if you ever go for an investigation. We paid a ton of money for a private investigation, we are all seasoned investigators, and we were met with the cruel and negative attitude of Sharon. She treated us like she didn't want us there. Her security searches were SO over the top, you'd think we were all criminals being strip searched for prison. She refused to let our teammate bring in her medication she needed to... I don't know... LIVE??? Absolutely refused. Her reasoning was "I have a bunch of teenagers coming tomorrow and if one of their parents finds a pill on the floor my insurance will kill me." Um, what? She made us all EMPTY our bags, questioning what was in every single bag or pocket. She freaked out over our REM pod claiming it was an Ouija board (lady... it looks NOTHING LIKE AN OUIJA BOARD!!!) She wouldn't let our other teammates backpack in because "it's not an equipment bag, and usually I'd just let it slide, but it's not full enough to be considered an equipment bag, so he can't bring it in." I'm not kidding, exact words. Lady. What. The. Actual. ****. Apparently it wasn't full to HER standards, because EVERYONE else also had backpacks???? We had a screwdriver in our bag for our equipment, and she saw it and immediately was like "no you can't have that I need to take that." Sorry, what? So we went to go take it back to the car, which was MAYBE 10 yards away, and the entire time she was YELLING at us "no you can't do that! Next time I'd really prefer if you don't do that! You can't do that!" We can't what... walk something YOU don't allow in back to OUR car??? It was MENTAL. This lady near had a breakdown over it. I don't know what you think we're going to do with a screwdriver but if it's making you act like that, MAYBE SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP. BE WARNED, YOU CANNOT BRING IN ANY FOOD OR DRINKS. NOT EVEN WATER. She forces you to buy her overpriced drinks and food (pop in a mini fridge or leftover lunchables). Even in heat, even if you have health issues, she did not allow ANYTHING in. So, we were there for an overnight 8 hour hunt without a single thing to eat or drink IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER, because we didn't want to give her any more of our money. Once we were done with THAT, she gave us a quick tour and basically word vomited everything at us and none of us could understand a single word she said. We asked her where the hotspots were and she gave us SO MUCH ATTITUDE saying "the entire place is haunted blah blah blah" lady... we asked where the hotspots and most popular areas were. No need for the attitude??? Not to mention, THERE IS NO PLUMBING. The bathrooms was ONE porta potty outside. If you needed to use the restroom, SHARON HAD TO COME WITH YOU, STAND OUTSIDE UNTIL YOURE DONE, AND NOT LET ANYONE ELSE IN UNTIL YOURE DONE. She would not let us go back to our cars for ANY reason once you're checked in. It literally felt like we were in PRISON!!! LADY, WE ARE ALL ADULTS??? Do you WANT TO HOLD MY HAND WHILE I PEE WHILE YOURE AT IT??? The amount of control issues this woman has was insane. I have been to countless places similar to this one and I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER, been treated like this. It was like she had to PROVE to everyone that the places was HERS under HER rules. She somewhat explained to us her reasoning for why she was so strict, but there are SO many other options and ways to go about it other than treating your paying customers like that. I understand people stealing items from the building, but maybe invest in some cameras??? There are no cameras inside. Or hire staff to watch guests on each floor, SOMETHING. She was so thorough checking bags when coming in, and was so worried about stealing, yet didn't check bags when we left. Make that make sense. Part of ghost hunting is gaining connections and building relationships with the customers. Frankly, I don't even know if she CARED about the spirits of the place with the way she was acting. This is NOT how to run a place like this. I will NEVER be coming back as long as Sharon stays the owner. I am bewildered, baffled, and feel almost infantilized that we were treated like this after paying so much money.

We purchased a package that included the Nightmare Experience. Me: chicken, crybaby, scaredy cat, whatever name you have for me, I happily accept. Never liked scary movies; I know what you did last summer, scream and others like that. NO monsters! Every now and then I will try a haunted house because I know without a doubt, they are just PEOPLE dressed in costumes. Before entering we were asked a million questions about our health, including heart issues and seizures. Ok, I'm already scared. The young lady that took our tickets gave very specific instructions. Hold on to each other and follow the tiny red lights on the wall. It is completely dark inside. What!!! We are in line and once the light turns green to go, we enter. Our final warnings are NO hitting or kicking. If we want to end the scare, all we have to do is yell "nightmare"! Really? Well, she didn't lie! It was total darkness! I was scared because I couldn't see any of the scares coming. None of the monsters that jumped out, or spiders that crawled on me, or the jeep that almost hit us. That was pretty cool. AND, we had to military crawl through a tunnel, in total darkness! Just following a tiny red light that guided us. It was a lot of fun, I did NOT let go of hubby. Glad I used the bathroom first. Lol.

Forewarning, this is a very very particular type of haunted house, so be aware of what you're…read moregetting into. Most haunted houses in Niagara falls (and just in general) are set up to be dark, have some gags, some props, neat decor to look at, maybe some scare-actors in costume; this is not that. This is a dark maze, with dead ends, winding corridors, narrow crawlspaces, and shrinking rooms. There are minimal gags & props, and more loud legitimately terrifying noises, electric shocks right next to your head, and the props are designed to scare the absolute life out of you, and your only guide is a small red light in the ceiling; so if that's what you're into, then this place is top notch. If however you prefer a more calm, artistic haunted house, with an actor in a vampire costume jumping out in front of you, then this place might be a bit much. Especially if you didn't bring an extra pair of clean underwear with you. Highest possible recommendation... But only for a very specific kind of horror fan.

We skipped one year and when we went back this year, it was like a whole new terrifying experience. This place is set in the middle of the woods and all you hear when you're coming down the road are chainsaws, screams, a train horn, and more screaming! I highly recommend Frightmare Farms overall the other places and if you can swing it, the VIP is worthwhile during the peak hours otherwise the wait can be a little long in the cold.

This haunt for the area is good but what made the experience so bad were the wait times... Wish they were like other haunts that sell only so many tickets for time slots. Spent more time waiting than the actual haunt. While they sell VIP tickets they are considerable more. Would have also gone earlier to ensure time to throughly enjoy the experience. My other big thing was they really are not equipped or able to handle handicapped patrons. Not enough handicapped parking and no formal process to help patrons get from parking lot at the bottom of a hill to entrance. I am recovering from a fracture and this was difficult and had I known probably would not have done this haunt. Hayride line was insane and getting on off ride was difficult at best. I have gone to some pretty amazing haunts so my bar was set high but this was not one of them....
