An old-fashioned ice-cream parlor is an establishment that every neighborhood needs. Darlene's is that... and a lot more. Four of us went there about 1/2 hour before closing. For me it was the first time, and I was extremely pleased that the staff patiently offered us tastes of all the flavors we asked for. The variety and imagination behind the flavors was impressive. I tasted three flavors and settled on Manhattan Cherry (which took its flavor profile from the popular cocktail), my wife had a combo of cinnamon swirl cereal and a coconut cream sort of flavor. Forgive me for not remembering the exact names. You get the idea that we're not talking the normie flavors from the freezer aisle at the King Sooper across the street. We're definitely going back. What a fantastic new ice cream spot. I take ice cream very seriously and this spot is 100% worth the visit. Firstly, their flavors are unique and well thought out. The ice cream itself is smooth, creamy and delicious. Secondly they offer ice cream based dessert treats like this life changing carrot cake ice cream cookie sandwich with the softest cookie filled with cheesecake ice cream. Thirdly they're a local business with the kindest owners and staff. Lastly, their pricing is fair, if not slightly lower than some of the big local ice cream chains. De-licious local home made ice cream! Very cute vibrant colored small local ice cream shop with fun flavors. Service is great! We tried multiple flavors and chose dark chocolate, pistachio honey, and caramelized pineapple that is only on for limited time. Banana Nutella and toasted sesame was good too. We also got a pint to take home as the caramelized pineapple is only for limited time, and she offer to keep our pint in freezer behind the counter we enjoy our ice cream for us. read more

Let me reiterate, this is the most amazing ice cream I have had in the Denver Metro area! Having seen it on 9News, I had to check it out . This ice cream has the most luscious texture I've eaten outside of Italy. I can pretty much guarantee that it is not fat free, but it is worth every calorie! ( Though they did have some lower cal options but if I'm going to eat ice cream, I'll eat ice cream!!). We had the chocolate fudge brownie which was very decadent and the strawberry rhubarb cheesecake, finding flavors sublime I tried the brownies which are scrumptious. Next time I'll try their chocolate chip cookie, along with some ice cream. I was served by the owners who are incredibly charming and the love they put into this venture is evident. My first impression on walking in was the immediate waft of real ingredients. I was greeted with a warm smile and a hearty hello. I felt welcomed here. Wanted. I wasn't rushed through. I wasn't met with a Millennial Stare and a Yeah, Whatever. I felt like I was part of my neighborhood. I tried a couple of flavors. I had some discussion about ingredients and how they craft their flavors. I was BLOWN. AWAY. by Thai tea ice cream, with just the richest, most amazing layered flavor that comes on in waves. I ended up sampling the cinnamon cereal, and had a bowl of Thai tea with toasted sesame and red miso, and the sky parted, sun shone down, and angelic chorus sang. I've tasted NOTHING like this at a Dairy Queen, Cold Stone, or out of a box from the store. Seriously, fam--Treat yourself. GO check Darlene's out. This is as real as it gets. It's local, it's real, they're happy to have us. This place feels like stepping into all of those old TV shows about how great life coulda, woulda, shoulda been. Here, though--it is. My family's got a new weekly tradition. This place is worth your time. I, uh... I wanted to share some pics, but the ice cream was too good and I ate it all.
