I have had breakfast at this restaraunt before and was completely satisfied. I give every place 2 tries before doing a review.....two dinner trips and two hard fails. The service was great and they were very freindly. Dinner..... needs work....I had the half rack of ribs and they tasted as if they had been around for a while.....fries ....stone cold....and again pre cooked and sat for a while. Green beans and coleslaw were the best part of the meal....hush puppies...5 out of 10. Breakfast.....yes Dinner.....hard pass

Service was excellent, I was early for the dinner crowded, so I was seated and served promptly. Food was hot and fresh. I don't care for their bbq sauce, I prefer a mustard base over vinegar. But everything was good!

Great place to stop with a family. Hush puppies and sweat tea were great! Service was very quick, only waited about 10 minutes for our food.

Great quality food at a family restaurant! This is the first time we've stayed on Manteo side, and stopped to try Darrell's. The inside has more of a family-style feel to it and was very clean. The service was 5 stars, she was on it and very friendly! My husband ordered the Surf & Turf that came with a Ribeye and your choice of seafood, he opted for fried oysters. I ordered the choose two, shrimp & clam strips which were also good! My husband had the seasonal tomatoes in a vinaigrette, which i'll admit was a little different, but he enjoyed them. We would definitely stop back if we were in the area again. Thanks for a great dinner!

Darrell's is my favorite place for breakfast in the Outer Banks! If you do visit this adorable restaurant you have to try their sausage. You can get it in either links or patties, which I personally chose patties just because the links appeared to be a little thick for my liking. Their stewed apples were very yummy, with just the right amount of sweetness and cinnamon. Another thing i'd like to note is how sweet our waitress Skylar was! She seemed so kind and genuine that I felt like a true local here at Darrell's. Anytime I am back in the Outer Banks I will be stopping in once again, and I might even try to venture out and try some of their lunch or dinner options!

We dined here for lunch and there was a line almost out the front door at 12:45pm. You place your order and pay at the counter then get your beverage and then find a seat and someone will bring out your order. The order number is on the receipt so hang onto it at least until your order arrives. In spite of how busy the restaurant was, we managed to find an open table inside. There are also some tables outside in back. It was a bit chilly when we were there so we stayed in. One of the daily specials was the club which I ordered on rye with potato salad. My wife got the chicken Caesar wrap with macaroni salad. Both were very good and a good value.

Poor Richard's is located on the water and offers scenic views of the Elizabeth II and people milling around Manteo. The sandwiches are always tasty as are their sides. Not to be overlooked are their sides like their pasta salad and cucumber salad. Poor Richard's is open for lunch and then closes to reset before reopening for dinner. Whether dining on the back patio or in the front bar or getting it to go, their hearty sandwiches are fulfilling and quality.

The Pretzel was good, no doubt about that. All of the breads were very fresh. Unfortunately, everything got worse after the appetizer pretzel at our table. The hot honey on the New Yorker Down South functioned more like a sticky grease. But if not for the honey, I don't think I would've tasted anything at all. The service wasn't good either. Our waitress appeared to be getting frustrated just by those at our table asking questions. The only time she lit up was when she bragged about the two smash burger ideas she came up with that made the menu. She wasn't terrible, but maybe I'm just being nice considering I felt us being there was an inconvenience to her. When someone at our table asked to add lettuce and tomato to their burger, she replied that this isn't a build your own burger place and that she works at the Lost Colony where you can do that...but not here. It was odd. My family has gluten allergies which sucks...but when we asked if any desserts were gluten free she said the tart was the only one she was aware of. It might have been, but saying "aware of" led me to believe there could possibly be others but she didn't know and wasn't asking. Ok, I convinced myself, the service was bad. In fact, the place was practically empty and they stuck all 7 of us in a booth. My daughter who is extremely gluten sensitive has to cut off a piece of her pizza because the waitress bumped it against mine when she put it on the table. In her defense, we had no room for it. When the waitress brought back my youngest daughters Smash Burger (because they didn't put cheese or mayo on it) she could only fit half the plate on the table. So my 8 year old ate off a plate with half the plate dangling off the side...bizarre. I'm giving 2 stars because I believe the meal could've been better. Living in a family with gluten allergies and having none...I get how it can be frustrating (apologies to those gluten free...I get that it's way more frustrating for you). I'd probably stick with a pretzel, order a standard smash burger & do the beer sampler. If you're driving over 15 minutes to get here, probably safest to try somewhere else.

It felt like it was day old not a fresh from the oven. I heard issues with all of the bread at the table which was unfortunate as the inside treats were tasty. Including the soft shell crabs which we were informed had been caught by the owner. The shrimp and scallop soup also had good flavor but the pear and cheese appetizer was lacking flavor and the dough was too thick. I did hear that the restaurant was somewhat new so they have a few things to work out.

If you want to get in during high traffic times, definitely call 24-hours ahead. We were seated within 15-minutes of our arrival, in the dining room with a lovely view of the harbor. We noticed most tables had a nice view due to the very open floor plan concept. Our server was lovely: attentive, helpful and pleasant. She patiently answered questions and returned often to check on us, making sure our water glasses were full. It's the little touch's that make a wonderful dining experience. We began our meal sharing the calamari. Really well prepared and quite flavorful. So enjoyed the little peppers and aioli drizzle. Very flavorful. Everyone in our party of 5 was quite pleased with their meals. Our 10-year old granddaughter loved the fries and chose an appetizer chicken wings for her entree. The portion was quite large and tasty. Beware, the dipping sauce ranch has a kick, which she didn't prefer but we enjoyed. My husband and I shared the grand slam seafood trio. Each seafood item was perfectly prepared. With fries and coleslaw, it was more than we could finish. He added a side salad which was very fresh and I had creamy clam chowder (good but not as hot as ai prefer.) Our daughter and friend raved about their fried fish and pork chop diners. 4/5 of us took home leftovers. The view.... So relaxing and peaceful. Our bill came to $188 (without any drinks.).
