Possibly best BBQ I ever had. Mention 10 percent coupon for tourists. Service greats. Ambiance is local decor. Pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs, and sauces are amazing. We also liked the hush puppies, beans, and Cole slaw

Stopped here for lunch and it was amazing! All of the meat was super juicy and delicious. The pork sandwich was a favorite of ours. Lots of fun bbq sauce options as well. Everything was affordable and service was very fast!

Stopped by to try this bbq. We wanted to compare to KC bbq. Probably biased but I'd prefer KC bbq but this place was pretty good. Food came out quick and service was good. Delivered our meals to the table. There is a spot to try all their bbq sauces which is very unique. Rib Roarin' we like the most.

I'll try to start with some positives. The signage is cute. The menu is straight to the point. The food came out extremely quickly (maybe a little too quickly). It's a relaxed, self-serve vibe. There's a unique "udder" self-serve dispenser for their range of barbecue sauces. My family and I were looking to switch things up from the seafood we've been having this week. I have been on a barbecue kick lately and was extremely excited to try what I thought would be an incredible, authentic, barbecue spot. After eating here, I have NO CLUE how this place has lasted 40 years on the OBX. It may have ruined barbecue food for me. I ordered a half rack of ribs, a side of mac and cheese, and a side of coleslaw. The girl at the counter put my order into the system incorrectly, charging me for an entire half rack of ribs "plate" which comes with beans (that I didn't want), hush puppies (that I didn't want), and coleslaw (that I had already ordered as a side). Not sure why there were no clarifying questions. The girl seemed to struggle to understand our orders. There is a "boat" section on the menu, described as sandwiches. The three people I was with each ordered one, expecting sandwiches. The chicken tender boat is not a sandwich. It's just tenders. The fried shrimp boat is also not a sandwich. It's just fried shrimp. The girl at the counter input the fried shrimp boat incorrectly (which should come with fries and hush puppies), only putting in fried shrimp à la carte. Not a huge deal, they brought out the sides after we said something. The ribs were bad. The color of the meat was off putting. You could see a yellow sheen on the surface and the inside was grey. The texture of the meat was gelatinous and bouncy. There was an overwhelming amount of fat. I took two bites before giving up and making everyone in my party try it. It was a negative experience for everyone. We threw what is pictured away. The barbecue sauce was terrible. Not sure how you can mess that up as a barbecue restaurant, but of the six offered sauces, only one was remotely close to a classic barbecue flavor (but was too sweet). All the other sauces tasted like straight vinegar- extremely sour. The pork barbecue boat (which actually does come as the advertised sandwich) was so sour due to the vinegar-based barbecue sauce. I couldn't tolerate it, but luckily the person who ordered it was able to get through it by adding copious amounts of the sweet barbecue sauce (which I believe Pigman's call their "Cock" sauce for whatever reason). I got Starry as my drink from the self-serve soda machine. It tasted like dirty cafeteria soda, as if the machine needed a cleaning or the Starry had somehow gone bad. The experience spiraled so badly that we ended up hysterically laughing at the cards we were dealt. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone in any scenario. Get some ribs from Food Lion or something if you want barbecue food. At least the workers were nice!

I hate to say it but everything was super dry yet also somehow hella greasy. we got takeout so unclear how that effected everything ribs were bone dry like jerky- heavy smoke flavor but that's it *** half chicken- this was good , kinda greasy. they forgot my sauce in the order collards- bit rubbery. peppery but good mac and cheese - greaseball *** potato salad- enjoyed this thoroughly *** hush puppies- surprisingly winner maybe my favorite item coleslaw- super bland and forgettable beans - way too sweet, one note green beans - greasy and acidic banana pudding - fine, mid sad but the food just wasn't good ... we were so pumped and fell silent when eating when we were ready to rave about them

Pigman BBQ has quickly become a family favorite of ours! The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the service comes with that unmistakable southern charm. We ordered a meal for our family of 7, and it was ready for pickup in just 10 minutes. In a wonderful display of attentiveness, the cashier even ran out to the parking lot with our receipt when we accidentally left without it. The food itself is everything you want from a BBQ joint. Their NC-style vinegar-based BBQ sauce is a standout--tangy and bold--but they also offer a variety of other bases if you're craving something more traditional. The sides are just as delicious as the mains! Creamy mac & cheese, hush puppies with honey butter, cole slaw, and baked beans--all perfectly complementing the slow-cooked, brined-to-perfection meats. Every bite was packed with flavor and juiciness. Dine in and order at the counter or carry out - can't go wrong with either. T-shirts and goods to purchase in house.

Went to a dinner party with a "catered" (to go) meal from Pigman's. Got to the party late (work) and the food had gotten cold; what few tastes I had were okay, so I decided to try lunch. First of all, it's a totally self-serve place. No metal untesils, no glass/plastic cups; you order at the counter, get your own setups and drinks, and wait for your food to come out of the kitchen. I had pulled pork and BBQ chicken. Pork is vinegar based, chicken is sugar based BBQ sauce. Sides were cole slaw (meh)and collards (collards had so many stems I thought green beans were mixed in! With plastic utensils I was unable to cut into the one-piece half of chicken. I asked to speak to management to explain all of this, the owner would not come out to speak, just offered a coupon for a pork sandwich, it's a one-room, hard surfaced, loud room...not at all inviting. Know you know, good luck.

We really enjoyed our meal at Pigmans! I got the half rack of ribs, they had the perfect smoky flavor and just fell off the bone! My Fiancé got the pulled pork - it was so flavorful and juicy, and the serving portion was very generous! For sides we got baked beans, mac & cheese, potato salad, and cornbread. The mac & cheese was my favorite side, it was sooo creamy and delicious. The cornbread was also amazing - it had the perfect balance of sweetness and texture. And the potato salad was a great refreshing contrast to the heavier meat and sides. What's even better is that the price was totally reasonable, especially for the quality of food that we got. Overall, I would definitely recommend Pigmans BBQ to anyone in the area who is looking for some amazing BBQ.

We have been to the Outer Banks many times and have driven by Pigman's and never stopped. Today we did and I am glad we did !! You order at the front, they call your number and bring your food out to your table. Easy peasy. The guys at the register were super friendly and helpful. Hubby and I both got the pulled pork plate. It came with pork, slaw, baked beans, hush puppies and we were surprised by the roll. The food came out very quickly. We were both surprised by the quantity of the pork we each got. Hush puppies were right on point. They have a number of different bbq sauces you can choose from. I was disappointed that the "spicy" sauce was not spicy at all. We each had enough pork left (and a bun) for lunch tomorrow. We even saved enough slaw for tomorrow's lunch. The slaw was slightly on the mayonnaise heavy side. In general, this place should not be passed up. The chicken and ribs also looked good. Give them a try, you will be glad you did.

Ribs were so tough you couldn't even pull them apart. BBQ beef was so mushy it had no texture. Everything was horribly greasy.

The restaurant has two distinct dining areas: the front section is first-come first-served bar seating that offers the full menu. The back section, which would be ideal for families, holds about 30 tables, mostly booths, with the hostess stand. We chose to sit at the bar and had a great experience. We started with bruschetta topped with burrata cheese. I ordered the angel hair pasta in a white garlic butter, cream sauce with marinated chicken and grilled vegetables. My husband ordered the special hamburger with Swiss cheese bacon, spinach and mayo with a side of fries. We ended with slices of the key lime pie that didn't disappoint! The food, service, staff and environment were exceptional! We overheard the Server mention that veterans receive complementary meals on Veterans Day, which speaks volumes about how this restaurant supports those who have served. I guess the Rockfish tacos were a daily special, so I ordered the "World Famous" Mahi tacos while Ms T ordered a crabcake sandwich. I think we were both a little disappointed. Her sandwich was definitely for bun lovers. She tore off enough bread for another sandwich and still had plenty. Restaurants are often guilty of conflating a huge bun with good sandwich. She was not particularly impressed with the crab cake, saying it was overloaded with thyme. I ordered my Mahi "blackened" and it really was not. The seasonings were good although also heavy with thyme. The flour tortillas were of poor quality, very thin and leathery and not provided hot. Hence the tacos were room temperature when eaten. I liked the finely shredded cheese that was not served refrigerator cold. The white sauce they serve is just wrong for these tacos. It is too sweet, too tart, making it harsh. Instead, I used the sauce that came with her crab cake and that was much better. Finally the mahi was very dry. I guess that is kind of the way that mahi is, but this really needed plenty of sauce. Kudos to them for serving good jasmine rice. This was not as good as we remembered. It is OK, not great and could be improved with just a few changes. We should have tried the burgers.
