I have had multiple surgeries with this doctor, 1999, 2004, and 2012 which was the disaster surgery, my left eye was cut off on the outer edge, permanently removing my eyelashes, my right eye was so drooped I had to have a graft put in, my eye brows were at two different levels, I currently have two different sized eyes, permanently damaged, my ears were so cupped I had to also have them fixed, he caused such a bad infection I had to travel to NY every day for two weeks. Total botch job on my daughter's scar, making it forever worse- which on follow-up with two other doctors was told it should not have been touched in the first place. At the initial consultation, he said - his words - "the scar will be 99% better." After the "procedure," we came for the last follow up at which time he assured us that it would get better - which years later - it has not. At that time I reminded him about his "99% better" statement which he denied. I should have known that he would not take responsibility for his botch job when he had us waiting nearly an hour - probably trying to figure out what to say. Seeing his reviews and listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor - what a joke - I felt it was my responsibility to send out this alert. Please think twice before using him. I found him online, wanted lip enhancement, decided to try temporary. The "doctor" injected something into my lips leaving pimple-looking bumps around my lips. That aaas about it. $750 was WASTED like i never wasted it before. Not just wasted, but I still have little holes around my lips. Dr. Antell is a well-spoken elegant man. His mannerism, fancy Park Ave. office, and magazine articles make you believe he's an excellent doctor. However, he underplays the dangers of plastic surgery by reassuring you a perfect result. I asked him about many possible complications but he told me it would be less than 1%. One of the many complications of breast augmentation is capsular contraction. It is more common in the first several months. It is when your body forms a lining around the implant. When this happens the capsule will tighten and squeeze the implant. This will distort the appearance of the implants and they will feel hard. The causes are unclear but these is the most common complications. Following are thought to cause it: 1. Transient germ contamination 2. Infection 3. Hematoma - a collection of blood in the surgical area I ended up getting the capsular contraction within the first month. I asked about it but he said it wasn't. I was under excruciating pain for that whole month. My breast also had other complications as well. When I consulted 3 more doctors both in east and west coast they all confirmed that it Is level III capsular contraction. I am very scared to redo it again and have to live with it. I would not recommend a doctor who underplays the dangers of plastic surgery and then later does not recognize a serious side effect such as capsular contraction. read more

I had a cosmetic surgery done and also asked that he enhance two one inch scars from a previous surgery. For these two inch scars, the office billed my insurance company $39,000. As I agreed to allow them to collect from my insurance company, I never thought the system would be so abused by a doctor that was held in such regard. I have been Dr. Antell's patient for 20 years. He has done multiple cosmetic procedures over the years and I have been thrilled with the results of each. Further, I have recently gone for injectables (Botox and Restalyne) and have been so happy with those results as well. Dr. Antell is not only a wonderful surgeon, but a lovely person as well - always available for questions. Unlike many plastic surgeons here he does not impose his will, but will accommodate your specific request (if it is medically reasonable). Dr. Antell is the best in NYC! From the moment I walked into his office, I knew I was going to choose him to perform my procedure. His entire team is incredible and a pleasure to work with. I originally went for a consultation to remove one mole, however, Dr. Antell pointed out a few moles on my body that should also be removed (but my choice) and also sent to the lab for a biopsy. Three weeks post surgery, my scars (on my face and body) are barely noticeable. While Dr. Antell did mention that I am healing really well, and that varies per individual, I believe the way he made the incisions and stitches were the cause of my amazing results. I was extremely sick for 2 years. After ruling out every other cause of my illness, my family and I were convinced that it was due to my 38-year-old breast implants. Therefore, I started reaching out to doctors in New York but was told by many that it would be a 3-4 month waiting period for an appointment. It didn't seem possible to continue suffering for 3 to 4 months, considering that my symptoms were getting worse by the minute. After doing a great deal of research into the best breast surgeons, I found Dr. Antell and contacted his office. His wonderful staff sensed my desperation and made room for me to have a consultation with him right away. His office, located on Park Avenue in Manhattan's Upper East Side, was extremely clean and impressive. Each member of his office staff was so kind, understanding and helpful. Throughout his office were many magazines covers and articles about him and his extraordinary work, which served to reaffirm the fact that I had come to one of the most premier plastic surgeons. On the day of my appointment, there was a very short waiting time before I was guided back to an exam room. When I met him, I was so impressed. He spent as much time with me as necessary, so I never felt rushed and he had a wonderful bedside manner. He was so kind and understanding, answered all my questions and relieved my anxiety. Due to his many accolades as a "Best Plastic Surgeon", I was worried about what the cost of the procedure would be but was pleasantly surprised to find the fees quite reasonable and competitive with the New York market. This was mainly due to the fact that he has a fully accredited NYS OR on his premises, which eliminated the hospital fees. Although he is a busy surgeon, he offered to make room for my surgery the following Monday because he understood how sick I was. I decided to get a breast lift in addition to having my implants removed. Having the surgery done in his own OR was quick and efficient. No hospital administration and waiting time. His OR was immaculate, and I wasn't exposed to the germs that reside in a hospital. The anesthesiologist was wonderful, as were his OR nurses. Before I knew it, the surgery was over. The following day, I started feeling better and many of my symptoms were relieved almost immediately. The recovery was quick, and I had minimal pain or discomfort. I was thrilled to see my new breasts, which looked so much better. He's extremely diligent about his follow up with his patients and his office staff is available to help you deal with your insurance provider as well as any additional assistance you need. I could kick myself for not doing this sooner. If you are a neurotic like me, you may be hesitating because a) you have visions of expiring on the operating table or b) you think you will look like a combination of Michael Jackson and Joan Rivers afterwards. Fellow neurotics, you can relax! Dr. A has never lost a patient (of course, I asked!) and when he's done with your face lift, neck lift, etc., you will look like you got back around 15 years or more (depending on your physical state beforehand) to do all over again. Re: my nasal tip reconfiguration also done at the same time, I can tell you that Dr. A.'s form of surgery is not an "in your face" procedure (no pun intended). His results are subtle but effective, and not one of my friends figured out what had happened--those that commented, just said that I looked "great" although they couldn't put their finger on why. Finally, but by no means least, Dr. A's wonderful, warm personality, and that of the entire staff of his extraordinary office are more like the family you would have chosen for yourself vs. my stereotypical image of professionals who have attained the top of the heap.
