Lunch Chicken Katsu Don @ Daruma
    Tonya C.

I recently went to lunch here. I ordered the cheesy rangoon, onion fried rice with egg. I didn't like Rangoon fried rice was ok. The service was ok also waiter was a little busy he was nice and timely. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy. Will be back to order other items of the menu.I went back two days later order a new dish off the menu I had Chicken Katsu Don it was delicious, perfect combination just needed a little more sauce. I had the same waiter he was available and service was great! Restaurant was clean, very nice atmosphere.

Had a good experience at Daruma this weekend. Was promptly seated with a smile then waited on soon after by a smiling waitress on her first day, and she did very well attending to our dining desires. The food was delicious and hot and we enjoyed every bite of the New Orleans wings and the Black Tonkotsu Ramen bowl. To add to our dinner, the atmosphere was vey pleasant with beautiful decorations.

Amazing takeout! And I was able to pick it up so soon after I ordered it. Delicious :)

Okay I got the black tonkotsu ramen a crawfish queso dip and there was a crispy chicken side The crispy chicken is basically Taiwanese chicken with no seasoning but the problem I had is those chicken is either pure coating fried or half of it is the starch covered with very small piece of chicken . The ramen was okay the broth didn't taste clean like what I prefer a tonkotsu is. Its main flavor is not the pork broth but rather the black garlic oil and the big spoonful of white garlic paste they gave you in the ramen. The pork wasn't marinated long enough so the char Siu is not very soft. The egg was overcooked it basically had a soft solid inside it was runny and it also didn't have a good soy based marinated taste. While I think it's a good experience I do not think the food was that great in my opinion a good bowl of tonkotsu ramen come from a clean broth the other stuff assist the flavor, also the kikurage, corn, and bamboo shoot that comes in the ramen was lacking there aren't many pieces of it unlike other ramen joints. The crawfish queso dip is disappointing you can taste that the queso is like a store bought nacho cheese with frozen crawfish tails which for $12 I don't think I will order again because it tastes like something you can just make at home for less and it be pretty simple. The ambiance of the place is nice. It's a small place but they put in work to make the place looks nice and the server came to check on us pretty often. Food 2/5 Ambiance 4/5 Service 4/5 Personal opinion rating overall is 2.5/5 (food just didn't hit right)

I got the LSU Ramen, and that packed a punch! It was pretty spicy, but nothing that I can't handle, it had everything you can imagine to be put inside Ramen, it had crawfish tails, shrimp, fish, cake, bamboo, boiled, egg, seaweed, corn, and more! I highly recommend and I would come back

Daruma just opened so let's give them some grace for service speed. Everyone knows BR swamps new restaurants so they are overwhelmed for sure. They also don't have their liquor license yet so maybe wait a few weeks. After what seemed like forever watching the building be renovated, Daruma is finally open! It's beautiful inside to say the least. No expense was spared when it came to light fixtures and decor. I do wish the central lantern lightbulbs were changed to 2700K bulbs to match the other lights and the black chandelier drum shades around the perimeter of the dining room be rotated so the seams face the wall. It's the details that set restaurants apart and I think these were just oversights. Unfortunately, like so many restaurants, they are using too much soap to clean the new floors which make them horribly sticky. The worst. Onto the food: The menu is overwhelming. For advertising as being a ramen restaurant, there are too many other dishes competing for space. It's a mix of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, and Mexican. It made my head spin. Do one thing and do it well. The dishes we ordered were all presented beautifully and delicious. The only issue I had was with the kimchi salad. It was literally just a plate of kimchi. The robot waiter is a gimmick that surely has to be put to pasture soon as it kept tripping and spilling soup. I wish this restaurant well and hope it can pivot to serve Baton Rouge for many years.

Food wasn't terrible. Service was great!

Bao were amazing - Ramen was delicious. Prices are good and portions are generous. The food was delivered by a robot, which was fun. We will add Combo A (side salad and pork Bao) to our Ramen every time!! Love the decor, service, and playlist.

Very romantic dine in place. Good for family! And food is ambivalent! They have big giant icon man at the front, my boys crazy with it. And we all love their ramen and appetizers.

The menu said Katsudon but all we got was tonkatsu with rice and vegetables. Very misleading.

Great lighting and front row to the kitchen staff. We were seated pretty quickly and got our initial drinks soon after that. Our waitress was direct and to the point. Their menu features a good mixture of different dishes. For appetizers we got the chicken wings. It was delightfully crispy even after 30 minutes and still steaming hot. I was a little disappointed that it does not come with a sauce. I would recommend getting the spicy mayo sauce as dip (extra $1.50), superb flavor. My wife got the Red tonkatsu and love the spice level. Definitely not for the faint of heart. It came with a generous about of chashu pork and ramen noodles. I got the okonomiyaki which was also good. Fair amount of seafood and the pancake batter was light. I do wish it had more cabbage. We were too full to get dessert but the matcha cake and mochi looked epic. If we are in the Baton Rouge area again and craving ramen, we will definitely consider going back.

It's dangerous that I pass it on the way home because when I have a bad day or want comfort food, I end up here. It has your basic Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese products. Anything from egg tarts to dumplings/gyoza to kimchi to natto to pho broth. They have a lot of canned/bottled drinks, like Thai tea, Yeo's soy milk, milk tea, coffee drinks. All the sauces you need. And of course the snacks many of us know from childhood, like prawn crackers or Marukawa bubble gum. For the size, I was very impressed with this cute little shop. It's clean and organized, well stocked, and they're so friendly there. Honestly, prices are also super reasonable. They could totally jack up prices more and get away with it, since it's the only shop of its kind in this area. So I decided on 5 stars because while I do wish they had more non-frozen actual food and more variety, for their size, they're doing the best that they can. You can't walk into a store this size and expect an H-Mart or Assi or Hong Kong Supermarket. And the fact that they appeal to all the Asians is pretty darn great for this side of Baton Rouge. Overall, I would highly recommend. Come here for snacks, dessert, or getting ingredients for cooking. Just beware. You might end up getting more junk food than you anticipated!

The ube ice cream however was solid, with a mild and lightly sweet earthy flavor similar to taro or matcha. 8/10 recommend especially if you've never had bingsu or ube.
